Akateeminen Kirjakauppa / Academic Bookstore)
は、経営者であるストックマン百貨店 (Stockmann) とケスクスタ通り(keskusta) を挟んで隣にあります。
'フィンランド近代建築の父' 、アルヴァ・アアルト / Alvar Aalto (1898 ~ 1976) が設計した、フィンランド最大の書店です。
書店内に 'カフェ・アアルト / Cafe Aalto' あります。
今回の旅行で私が最も行きたかったのが、ここでした。
There is the Academic Bookstore (Akateeminen Kirjakauppa) opposite Stockmann on Keskusra Street, and the Bookstore is managed by Stockmann.
Alvar Aalto (1898 ~ 1976) known as the 'Finland's Modern Architecture Father', designed the Bookstore which is the biggest bookstore in Finland.
There is 'Cafe Aalto' within the Bookstore.
In this trip, I most wanted to visit here.

撮影はケスクスタ通り側から
ポホヨイ・エスプラナーディ通り(Pohjoisesplanadi)とケスクスタ通りの角の1階には 'スターバックス' があったので、'カフェ・アアルト' は 'スターバックス' にとって変わられてしまったのかと、少し焦りましたが、 'カフェ・アアルト' は2階であったと気がつき、ほっとしつつ入店。
私達はケスクスタ通りの入り口から入りました。
ドアのハンドルに個性があり、床には足跡も施されていました。
アアルトのセンスに足跡を残す遊び心があるのに驚き、
これはもしや何かのアクシデントを利用したものではないかと
疑ってしまう私でした。 (アアルトのことをよく知っているというわけでもないのですけれど）
人通りがあって、ハンドルや足跡を撮影できなかったのが残念...

The Starbucks in the ground floor of the building is on a corner
between Pohjoisesplanadi Street and Kestusta Street,
so I thought that Starbucks had taken the place of 'Cafe Aalto',however, I remembered that 'Cafe Aalto' is on the first floor, I was relieved and entered the building. We went into the building from Keskusta Street entrance. The door's handles have individuality and footprints on the floor. I was surprised that Aalto's sense had the playful mind though I wondered if they might have been made by accident. (However, it does not mean I knew of Aalto very well.) There was busy so I could not photograph the handles or the footprints, that's too bad.... |
フィンランドへの憧れは長い間あり、ようやく、航空券と宿泊所を予約したのが
今年5月。
その後に、映画 "かもめ食堂" [ 2006 / 監督 : 荻上直子 (オギガ ミナオコ/ 1972 ~) /
原作 : 群ようこ (1954 ~) / 2006 / 幻冬舎] をRと一緒に見ました。
(原作は映画のために書き下ろされたので、映画の封切りと出版年が同じです）
映画でこの場所を知り、その後、アルヴァ・アアルトの設計であることを知りました。
書店、カフェ、建築は、私とRに共通する嗜好であるので、ヘルシンキ観光の中でここの優先順位が最も高くなりました。
私は原作は、ヘルシンキ行きの機内で読みました。(下記)

後日、アアルトの自邸とアテネウム美術館 (Ateneum)で開催されていたアアルト展(ALVAR AALTO – ART AND THE MODERN FORM)、実際の 'かもめ食堂 / Ravintola Kamome' にも行きました。
それらは、後のセクションに載せます。
I had admired Finland for a long time, finally we reserved our flight tickets and our accommodation in May this year.
After then I watched a film: "Kamome Shokudō" [2006 / Director : Naoko Ogigami (1972 - ) || Original : 2006 / Yoko Mure (1954 -) / Gentousha] with R.
(The original book was written for the film, so they were published and premiered in the same year.)
I knew here from the film and later I found out that the building had been designed by Alvar Aalto.
Bookstores (bookshops), cafes and architecture are I and R's favourites-in-common, so here's priority was highest in our Helsinki sightseeing.
I read the original book in the aeroplane as we flew to Helsinki, below.

Later we visited 'Aalto House', Exhibition Aalto : 'ALVAR AALTO – ART AND THE MODERN FORM' in Ateneum, and a real restaurant, "Kamome Shokudō" :'Ravintola Kamome'.
I will write about the visits in later sections.

| 向こう側正面に 'カフェ・アアルト' があります。 この階では美術書を見ました。 横長の大きなフィンランドの風景写真集が気に入り、 買うかどうか非常に迷った末、買いませんでした。 1階ではラッピングやカードを見ましたが、これも買わずじまい...。 At the far end is 'Cafe Aalto'. I looked at art books on this floor. I liked a big wide photograph book of Finland Views, I really hesitated over buying it, at last, I did not buy. I looked at wrapping things and cards on the ground floor, but ended up without buying one... |

| 遊び心 天井の窓が本の形をしています。 と聞かない限り、私は気がつきませんでしたよ。 この遊び心があるなら、あの足跡のアイディアもアアルトなのでしょう。 Playful Mind The windows in the celling are book forms. I did not realize it there,I found out later. This is a playful mind, so probably the footprints idea was his idea, wasn't it? |

| エレベーター脇にコート掛けが用意されているところに 北の国に住む人の配慮が感じられます。 試読用の椅子も座り心地が良さそう... There are coat hook stands beside the lift and I felt the consideration of people in Northerly countries. The chair for trial reading looks comfortable. |

| カフェはもともと違うビルの中にありましたが、 1986年に、ここで、再スタートしました。
ここはロイ‧マンッタリ/ Roy Mänttäri によってデザインされました。
エリッサ‧アアルト未亡人(1922 - 1994) から許可を得て、 アアルトの名前を使わせてもらったのです。

This Cafe was originally in a different building. The Cafe restarted after it moved here in 1986. Here was designed by Roy Mänttäri. Aalto's widow, Elissa Aalto (1922 - 1994) gave permission to use the name Aalto, You get the Cafe's history here →★ in English |

| カフェにある花は時々造花で、興ざめし、そこには二度と行きたくありません。 このカフェの花は、生花、さすが！ Sometime flowers in cafes are artificial which casts a chill over me, and I would not go there again. The flowers in this Cafe are fresh, great for Aalto! |

カフェ・ラテとアップルパイ
ミルクピッチャーにはアップルパイ用のカスタードソース。
Rはアップルパイの味を消し去るようにこのソースを全部使用して食べてました。
気の毒なことです...。
ここはシナモンロールが美味しいと聞きましたが、
この後、レストランにディナーの予約していたので、
私はカフェ・ラテだけにしました。
現地の日本人ガイドさんが二人の日本女性旅行者を連れて
ここで食事をしていました。
他の観光客らしい多くの人も、ここで食事をしていました。
なので、食事も美味しいのかもしれません。
Cafe Latte and Apple Pie
The custard sauce for the pie is in the milk jug.
R ate the pie with all the sauce from the jug
as though he would delete the taste of the pie.
Sorry to him....
I heard here's cinnamon roll is good,
although we had booked a restaurant for our dinner after here,
so I just had the cafe latte.
A local Japanese guide brought two Japanese women tourists
There were many people who looked like tourists and had meals here.and they had a meal here.
So the Cafe's meals might be good, too.
