1) フィンランディア・ホール / Finlandia Hall

'フィンランド近代建築の父' 、アルヴァ・アアルト  / Alvar Aalto (1898 ~ 1976) が、宿泊地の近くにある、フィンランディア・ホールを設計したのを知ったので、歩いて向かいました。

I found out that the 'Finlandia Hall' was designed by Alvar Aalto (1898 ~ 1976) known as the 'Finland's Modern Architecture Father', so we walked to there.

フィンランディア・ホール
1971年竣工

名前から察しられるように、このホールは、
基本的にはオーケストラの演奏会のためのものです。
言うまでもありませんが、"フィンランディア/ Finlandia" (作品番号26) は
フィンランドの作曲家ジャン・シベリウス / Jean Sibelius  (1865 -1957) 
によって作られた交響詩です。

完成は1899年、1900年に改訂されました。

この曲を聞くと、私は森、湖、森の合間を流れて海に向かう川が思い浮かびます。
まさに私にとってはフィンランドを想起する曲！

Finlandia Hall
Built in 1971

As the name the hall is basically for orchestral concerts.

 Though needless to say, "Finlandia"(Op.26) was 

written by a Finland composer, Jean Sibelius (1865 -1957).

He finished it in 1899, and revised it in 1900.

When I listen to the music, the views come to my mind of forests, lakes, 
a river flows between forests to the sea.

The music exactly evoke Finland for me!

今回知ったのは、Wikipediaにあった下の話。

"『フィンランディア』が作曲された1899年当時、フィンランド大公国は

帝政ロシアの圧政に苦しめられており、独立運動が起こっていた。

シベリウスが作曲した当初の曲名は

「フィンランドは目覚める」 (Suomi herää) で、

新聞社主催の歴史劇の伴奏音楽を8曲からなる管弦楽組曲とし、

その最終曲を改稿して独立させたものであった。

フィンランドへの愛国心を沸き起こすとして、

帝政ロシア政府がこの曲を演奏禁止処分にしたのは有名な話である。"

This time I found out this story from Japanese Wikipedia, below (it is translated by myself)

"At the time of 1899 when "Finlandia" was composed, the Grand Duchy of Finland was tormented by the Russian Empire, and independence movement happened.

The original title of "Finlandia" :  Finland Wakes (Suomi herää) by Sibelius that 

the accompanied the historical play originally consisting of 8 pieces in 
an Orchestral Suite and then the last piece was revised, and separated.

The Russian Empire prohibited playing the music, because the music created patriotic spirit for Finland.

This story is popular."

花壇は、上の表札(門標)?の並びにあります。
楽譜のように思えるのは私だけですか？

The Flowerbed is beside the nameplate, above.
Do only I feel this is like a musical score?

大きい！
敷地が道よりも低い位置にあるので、
建物の全容が道からではわかりません。
オーケストラの演奏会以外にも使用されます。

Buit in 1971
Big!
The site is lower than the main road, so we do not know its whole aspect.
It is also used  for other events.

外灯
建物の脇を通った時に見つけました。
アアルトらしいデザインです。

Outside Light
When I walked to one side of the building I found this.
Its design is definitely like  Aalto. 

横から / From the Side 

美しい！
シンプルでありながら、見る角度によって表情が違います。
表門から入った時に見た印象とここでの印象も違うし、
右から(上の写真)と左から(下の写真)も違います。

 Beautiful!
Although it is simple, its appearance is different from different angles.
My impressions were different from when I saw it from the front gate, 
from right, above  and left, below.

花崗岩との取り合わせは、きっと考慮したのでしょう。

I am sure he considered the combination with granite.

2) トゥーロンラウティ / Töölö Bay (Töölönlahti)

フィンランディア・ホールの脇を抜けると 
"トゥーロンラウティ / Töölö Bay (Töölönlahti)" 
の岸辺に出ました。

 ヘルシンキの中心部には、湖が二つあり、ひとつがこのトゥーロンラウティ、もうひとつがEläintarhanlahti (発音がわかりません)。
(私は湖かと思いましたが、トーロ湾と訳されているようなので、海かもしれません）

We walked along the side of Finlandia Hall and then beyond was a shore of 
"Töölö Bay (Töölönlahti)"

There are two lakes in central Helsinki, one is this "Töölö Bay (Töölönlahti)" and another one is "Eläintarhanlahti".
( I thought they are lakes, although it says Bay, so they might be sea..?)

トゥーロンラウティ / Töölö Bay (Töölönlahti)

開放感がある空間が広がり、気持ちが良いです。

空港から中央駅にくる途中で見かけた、リンマキ遊園地 (Linnanmäki) が

ここからも見えました。

中心地にこんな風景があるなんて、恵まれた環境に思えます。

The open space is wide and it is comfortable.

When we came to the Central Rails Station from the Airport,

we saw the amusement park : Linnanmäki which we could see from here, too..

 リンマキ遊園地は1950年!に開業しました。

The park was opened in 1950!

雁もたくさんいます。
そういえば、ヘルシンキでは鴨よりも雁(ガン)を結構見ました。
ガチョウは、英語で、Domestic Goose (家畜用の雁)と呼ばれます。
アヒルはDomestic Duck (家畜用の鴨)。

There are a lot of geese.
Oh! Yes! I saw geese much more than ducks in Helsinki.

白鳥もいます。 / There are swans, too.

ジョギングしている人もサイクリングしている人もいました。
この道は中央駅まで続いています。
開かれた空間の中を歩いて駅まで行けるのは素敵だな〜と感じました。
メイン道路を歩いているときには、この空間がまったく想像ができませんでした。

There were some people jogging or cycling.
This road continues to the Central Railway Station.
 I felt it is wonderful that people can walk in open space to the station.
When I walked on the main road, I could not imagine this space.

タイトルはわかりません。
きっと木をイメージしているのでしょう。

I do not know its title.
Probably its image is a tree.

お花もよく世話されています。
色合いが北欧らしい...

They look after the flowers.
The tone of the colour is suitable for Scandinavia...

3) ヘルシンキ・ミュージック・センター 

    The Helsinki Music Centre 

この日は、私は裏側から先に見ました。
何かしら〜と...

I saw the building from the back earlier, on that day.
I wondered what it was...?

ヘルシンキ・ミュージック・センター  / Helsingin Musiikkitalo

2011年竣工、開業
設計者: Marko Kivistö, Ola Laihod ＆ Mikko Pulkkinen
正面に出ると、ああ、ここだったのかとわかりました。
ヘルシンキ初日にすでにこの前を歩いて宿泊地に向かいました。
建物の表側はガラス張りになっていて、
裏側と表情が全く違います。
そうそう、ヘルシンキ・ミュージック・センターは、
フィンランド放送交響楽団の本拠地です。

When I went to the front, I recognized Oh! here!
I had already walked here for our accommodation on my first day in Helsinki.
The front of the building is glass-sided, so its front and back are quite different.
Oh! Yes! The Helsinki Music Centre is 
the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra's base.

We had walked to the right of the building.

大きな彫刻作品が目を引きます。
初めて目にした時から、この日もいったい何を表しているのかしら？
とあれやこれや思い巡らしました。
私にはどうしても水龍に思えて仕方ありません。

The big statue caught my eye.
I have wondered about this since I first glanced at it.
I cannot stop my idea that this is a 'Water Dragon'.

4) 駅隣接の建物 / Buildings Close to the Station

中央駅が建築中だと私は思いましたが、
もしかしたら別の何かかもしれません。

I thought this is a new part of the Central Railway Station building,
although it might be different something.

駅隣接 / Neighboring the Central Station

中央駅に隣接した建物の中にアザラシの立体作品があります。
この前を何回か通ったのですが、その正体がわからず仕舞いでした。
左のあざらしの胸には
"SEAL MY FATE"
と書かれています。
あざらし(seal)と封をする(seal)をかけて、右のあざらしの状態に
しているのでしょうか？
'Seal my fate' : 私の運命を決めて (私の運命を決める)
という意味にもなって、封をされる運命ということでしょうか？
これはブラック・ジョークですか？

There were two artwork seals in a building close to the Central Station.
I passed here some times, I did not and may not now understand 
their true character.
On the left one's breast is written  "SEAL MY FATE".
An animal's seal and wrapping's seal are related and then it becomes the left one?
'Seal my fate' means you (or I) decide that my fortune is being wrapped
and then the right one  is sealed?
Is this a black joke? 

インテリアデザインのお店も入っています。
An Interior Design shop is there, too.

現代美術館キアズマの建物も、駅近くなのですが、それはキアズマを訪ねたときのセクションに載せます。

 The building of Contemporary Art  Museum : Kaisma is close to the station too,

though I will show it in a later section about when I visited the Museum.
