ヘルムズリ城跡の模型
この模型は、お堀りの部分にあります。
イングリッシュヘリテッジ(★)が管理しています。
お城は1120年頃に、ウォルター・エスペクト/ Walter Espec (? ~ 1153) によって
木造で建てられました。

Model of  Helmsley Castle
The model is in the Moat.
English heritage manages the Caste.Originally was built as 
a wooden castle by Walter Espec (? ~ 1153).

南の楼門 / South Barbican 

門の前にかっこいい彫像が3体あります。
 ヘルムズリ城跡で、この彫像達に一番感動しました。

There are three cool statues in front of the Gate.
I was most impressed by them in Helmsley Castle.

城内 / Inside Castle 

東塔 
ロバート卿 ( 1170 又は1172 頃– 1227)によって12世紀に建てられました。
かなり荒廃していますが、現在、ここでは最も特色がある建物です。

レンズに雨つぶがついていました。


 East Tower 
It was built by Robert de Roots II (ca. 1170 /1172 – 1227) in the 12th Century.
 It is the most prominent feature in this site today.

My camera's lens had a rain drop.

どこのお城でも重要な井戸
Wells were important in every castle.

北門からの景色 / View From North Gate

左 : 西塔 
 右 : 宿泊施設(家)、現在は博物館になっています。

 Left : West Tower 
 Right : The Chamber Block, nowadays it is the Museum.

貴婦人だって武器を持つ
Even a Lady used Weapons  

貴婦人は家や財産の管理もしたのです。
私は中世の鍵は、ファンタジー世界の扉の鍵のイメージがして好きです。

The Ladies managed the household and estates.
I do like Medieval keys, 
because they remind me of keys for doors of Fantasy worlds.

ヘルムズリ城の窓からヘルムズリー・ウォード・ガーデンを見る
庭へは城からは入れませんでした。
入り口は全く違う場所にありました。
庭を見るのは有料でしたし、雨の中を見る気力もありませんでした。

Helmsley Walled Garden from the Castle Window 
We could not access the Garden from the Castle.
Their entrance is in a completely different place.
It needs a fee and it was raining, so we did not  fancy looking at the garden.

暖炉跡 / Fireplace 

チューダー朝の内装
この部屋の壁に下のレリーフがありました。

Tudor Interior 
There are reliefs on the wall in this room.


左が人魚、右に２匹のシイラ。
私はドラゴンだと思ったのですが、あとで、
パンフレットによってシイラであることがわかりました。

The left side is a Mermaid and the right side had two dolphins (Mahi-mahi).
I thought they were dragons, although later I read the pamphlet saying they are dolphins.

雨が降る外へ戻ります... とほほ
