1) 2010年のヨークシャー・デール旅行
Yorkshire Dales Trip in 2010

2010年に、二週間を超える、ヨークシャーデール / Yorkshire Dales 旅行には
出かけました。(あ〜、もう、こんな長旅ができる体力はないです)

ヨークシャーデール旅行は、ロンドンからヨークシャーデールへ行き (下記)、

湖水地方のケンダル / Kendal を経て (下記)、

❼ 旅行/ Trip-Kendal, 9th, July

リヴァプール / Liverpool、マンチェスター / Manchesterを周り (下記)、

❽-2 旅行 / Trip-Liverpool11th,/ Manchester,12th,13th...

南下してウォリック / Warwick に行き、そしてロンドンに戻ってきました (下記)。

ノースヨークシャー / North Yorkshireは、ヨークシャーデールよりも、
もっと北で、もっとロンドンから遠いので、行ったことがありませんでした。

今夏に、ようやく、ノースヨークシャー旅行が実現できました。

2010年ヨークシャーデール旅行
マラムコーヴ : 石灰岩で、できた崖
マラム (Malham) 村はスキプトン (Skipton) の北西にあたり、
ヨークシャーデールの中では南側に位置します。

ハリー・ポッターの映画７作目：
『ハリー・ポッターと死の秘宝 PART1』(2010)
の撮影場所にもなり、より人気の場所にな。

Malham is North-West of Skipton, in the south of the Yorkshire Dales.

Nowadays, it might be more popular because it was a location of
the 7th Harry Potter film : "
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1", (2010).

In 2010, I had a trip of Yorkshire Dales for over two weeks.
( Well, nowadays I don't have enough strength for a long trip like this)

The trip was from London to Yorkshire Dales, below

North Yorkshire is more north and further from London than Yorkshire Dales,

so I hadn't been to North Yorkshire.

Finally I made a trip in North Yorkshire this summer.

ヨークシャー州は、英国で最大な面積を持ち、下記の４つの区分 (郡: カウンティ / county )に分けられています。

1.イースト・ライディング・オブ・ヨークシャー

2.ウェスト・ヨークシャー

3.ノース・ヨークシャー

4.サウス・ヨークシャー

赤部分 : ヨークシャー
ノース・ヨークシャーまではロンドンから遠いので、途中にある
ウィロー・コテージ / Willow Cottage というB＆Bに一泊しました。
B&Bについては次のセクション②で。

so we stayed one night at B&B : Willow Cottage on our way there.

ヨークの白薔薇
ヨークシャーのシンボルは白薔薇で、ヨーク家(朝)のシンボルに由来しています。

ノース・ヨークシャーの紋章
North Yorkshire Coat of Arms

ヨークシャーに初期に住んでいたのは、ケルト人でした。

'ヨーク / York' の名前は、古ノルド語 (Old Norse) の'Jórvík '、
ケルト語の'Evora' : yew 、が
ラテン語 (Eborācum / Ebura / York )を経たと言われています。

元来の意味は、イチイの木(yew tree)。

ローズマリー・サトクリフ (1920 - 1992) が書いた
『第九団のワシ』(初版1954/ 日本語版1972/ 岩波書店)
は、'第9軍団ヒスパナ' (BC58 - AD120~180頃) が元になっており、この軍団の英国での後期本拠地がヨーク市でした。

Yorkshire and Celts and Romans

Yorkshire is the largest county in Britain.

It is divided into four area for civil administration, below

1.East Riding of Yorkshire

2.West Yorkshire

3.North Yorkshire
4.South Yorkshire

In early period, Celts lived there.

They say that the word York from Old Norse, Jórvík or 'Evora' : yew in Celtic, and through the Latinised (Eborācum / Ebura / York ) Eburacum or Eburaci and original means Yew (tree).

'LegioIX Hispana'(BC58 - AD120~180) became the subject of the novel :

"The Eagle of the Ninth"

[ by Rosemary Sutcliff (1920 – 1992), 1954 / Japanese Edition, 1972/ Iwanami Shoten].

The Legio's later main base in Britain was in York.

'LegioIX Hispana' became the subject of the film

"Centurion" [2010 / Director: Neil Marshall (1970 -) / Unreleased in Japan].

サトクリフは、'第 9 軍団ヒスパナ' の敵方、
ケルト人イケニ族の女王ブーディカ (? - AD 60 又は 61) が主人公の
『闇の女王にささげる歌』
も書いています。

この本を買ったのは昨年ですが、まだ読んでいません。

女王ブーディカは、'英国の勝利の女神'なので、多方面のメディアで題材にされています。

曲では、エンヤ / Enya (1961 -) の "Boadicea" (1987)があります。
→★(ここで聞けます) (私はエンヤが好きです）

ちなみにブーディカは、ヨークシャーより南東のノーフォーク出身です。

ノーフォークは、まだ行ったことがないです....。次回 (2017年) に期待?

Queen Boudica

Sutcliff wrote a book about the enemy of the Legion, Celtic (Britons) Iceni Queen, Boudica (? - AD 60 or 61).

The book is "Song for a Dark Queen " [1978 / Japanese Edition, 2002/ Hyouronsha].

I bought the Japanese edition (above) last year although I haven't read it yet.

Nowadays Boudica is a British goddess of victory, so has been the subjects of many medias.

For example, a music is "Boadicea" by Enya (1987), you can listen to it here→★

By the way, Boudica came from Norfolk which is South-east of Yorkshire.

I haven't been to Norfolk . Hopefully next time ...in 2017?
