The Wind in the Willows

この看板を針葉樹の庭で見つけ、
『たのしい川辺』 / "The Wind and Willows" (1963, 岩波書店
作：ケネス•グレアムス,1853 - 1932
訳：石井桃子、1907-2008,
挿絵：E•H•シェパード, 1879- 1976
に関する何かイベントがここで行われているのを知りました。

When I found this notice board in the coniferous garden,
I knew they have some event relating to
"The Wind and Willows"(1908,
the author : Kenneth Grahame, 1859-1932)

E•H•シェパードの『たのしい川辺』の
原画展が開催されていました。

E•H•シェパード は Nymansのもとオーナーファミリーの

Leonard とMaund Messelの友人でした。

E•H•シェパード は Nymans の景色をもとにして

いくつかのいたすトレーションを

『たのしい川辺』のために制作しました。

They have an exhibition : 
the original illustrations of "The Wind in the Willows"
 by E.H. Shepard.
E.H. Shepard was a friend of Leonard and Maund Messel.
E.H. Shepard used some views in Nymans for 
some illustrations in the book.

ケネス•グレアムスは、E•H•シェパード / E.H. Shepardの前の『たのしい川辺』の数々あったイラストレーションは満足していませんでしたが、E•H•シェパード / E.H. Shepard のイラストレーションは高く評価していました。：★

 Kenneth Grahame was not satisfied with earlier editions illustrators for "The Wind in the Willows", however, he appreciated the illustrations of  E.H. Shepard. : ★

When we came close to the gallery : Map G,
I saw Mr. Toad escaping!

On Door to the Exhibition 

英国でいくつかの旅行をし、英国の護岸されていない小川や運河、池や湖への親近感、小さな野生動物が身近に居る生活や運河のボートの旅の存在などから、『たのしい川辺』が生まれてくる自然さを感じました。

I have had a few trips in Britain and I can feel how naturally the book could come from landscapes with the sense of closeness to streams and canals without walls, where small wild animals can live and people can easily take boat trips.

通常は入っていかないようなこのような所も
彼らの跡を追うつもりで入ってみました。

Normally I would not go a place like this,
although I pretend to follow the animals trail and 
then I am going!
