1) 5つの部分  / 5 Parts 

ドーバー城は、非常に広い敷地で、なおかつ上にも下(地下）にも展開されているので、見所がとても多い場所です。

イングリッシュ•ヘリテッジ/ English Heritage に管理され、
大きく５つの部分に分けられて、紹介されています。

Dover Castle's site is very wide,
climbs up the hill and has several underground levels,
so they have many highlights.

English Heritage manages here and they make basically 5 parts.

2) ツアー/ Tour 

泊まったB&B: 'East Lee Guest House'は、ドーバー城から近いので、オープン前に目的地に到着するという、とても珍しいことになりました。

イングリッシュ•ヘリテッジのスタッフから、まずは、
❺Dover at War 
へ行く事を勧められました。

実はドーバー城に来たのも、ケント旅行を企画したのも、そしてこの英国旅行で最も見たかったのも、

' Roman Lighthouse (ローマ時代の灯台)'

がここにあるからでした。

そちらに早く行きたかったのですが、'Dover at War' の入り口は、
一度丘を下り、そしてまた他の部分を見るのに登ってこなければならないので、あとになると 'その根性' が私にはなくなるように思われたので、元気なうちに'Dover at War' へ行く事にしたのです。

そこは第二次世界大戦中に作られた 'Secret Wartime Tunnels' が
あり、10~20人程度のグループでのツアーでのみ見学が可能です。

正直言って、あまり乗り気はしませんでした。

第二次世界大戦のことがメインなのは、ある程度知っていましたし、私は日本人で、当時日本は彼らにとっては敵国ですし、
な〜んか、居場所がないような?、肩身が狭いような？....まあ、そんな感じです。

他の部分は撮影が許されていますが、ここの部分は撮影は禁止です。

ですが、English Heritage のwebsite でかなり見せていますので、撮影する必要もないのかもしれません。

私達は、この日の最初のグループに入り、見学しました。

いくつか違うツアーも(２つかもしれません？)用意されているようですが、私達はひとつだけ参加しました。

ドーバーの白い崖の中に様々な軍事施設があるのです。
There were various military installations.

We stayed in  'East Lee Guest House' B&B close to Dover Castle, so we could get to the castle before they opened, it was very unusual.

One of English Heritage staff recommended anyway firstly you go to ❺Dover at War.

Actually I came here, made 'Kent Trip', and in my British trip I most wanted to look at the 

'Roman Lighthouse' 

here.

I would go there anyway, however,  for 'Dover at War' we must walk down the hill once and up again to other points, so I thought if we made our visit there later, I could not sure that I would have enough will, then I decided, first of all I would go to 'Dover at War'.

There are 'Secret Wartime Tunnels' and we can only see them when we join their tour with a group : about 10~20 people.

To tell the truth, I did not feel I would see them so much, because 
I knew a little that there are mostly about the second World War, 
I am a Japanese, at that time Japan was their enemy country, somehow I felt I could not find my position? and I was feeling ashamed?...... well like that.

They allow us taking photographs in other parts, here not, although English Heritage website shows many inside views, so we might not have to do it.

They have some different tours (there might be two?), although we only did one.



3) 白い崖の中と上／In and On the White Cliffs

カフェ、ショップ、展示エリアは撮影可能

上の写真の場所から、このトンネルを抜けて来ました。

We came through this tunnel from
previous photograph's place.

私達の見学後は、上の写真のように行列ができていましたので、
スタッフの勧めに感謝しました。

After our tour, there was a queue (above photograph),
I appreciated the staff's advice. 

今でも大砲 (榴弾砲?) はここに.....
ドイツでなくフランスへ向けられている？(笑)

ドーバー城のガイドブックは、２冊あり、1冊は 'Secret Wartime Tunnels' のみで構成されています。

彼らのこのセクションにかける意気込みが感じられます。

私は❶から❹までの、他のガイドブックを購入しました。

There are two guidebooks about Dover Castle, and one of them is only about 'Secret Wartime Tunnels'.

I feel their enthusiasm about this section.
