元のマリーバーン駅/ Maliebaan station
鉄道博物館 (Het Spoorwegmuseum) は、1927年に設立され、
1954年以来、以前の鉄道駅であった”マリーバーン駅”に開館されました。

I and my husband R stayed for a week in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
We chose our first sightseeing spot in Utrecht : "Railway Museum / Het Spoorwegmuseum".

鉄道転車台について、下記、Wikiより。
一般に蒸気機関車の方向転換に用いるものとして知られており、蒸気機関車の全盛期には各地の機関区や拠点駅・起終点駅に必ず設けられていたが、蒸気機関車が廃止され、方向転換の必要がない電気機関車やディーゼル機関車などが増加するにつれ不要となり撤去され、あまり見られなくなってきた。"
According to Wiki about Railway Turntable,
"In rail terminology, a railway turntable or wheelhouse is a device for turning railway rolling stock, usually locomotives, so that they can be moved back in the direction from which they came.
This is especially true in areas where economic considerations or a lack of sufficient space have served to weigh against the construction of a turnaround wye.
In the case of steam locomotives, railways needed a way to turn the locomotives around for return trips as their controls were often not configured for extended periods of running in reverse and in many locomotives the top speed was lower in reverse motion.
In the case of diesel locomotives, though most can be operated in either direction, they are treated as having "front ends" and "rear ends" (often determined by reference to the location of the crew cab). "
On our way back from the Rietveld Schröder House, we happened to be on the Eastern side of the Railway Museum on a later day, 11th of August.

The NS Locomotive 2498 was the diesel electric locomotive manufactured in 1974 in the Alstom Belford factory for the Nederlandse Spoorwegen : NS.
This series ; NS2400 locomotives have been delivered to many countries.

NS機関車2498は、当初は空色、次がこの赤茶色、
1968年に新しいNSのデザインが導入された後、
1968年に黄色と灰色(下の画像)になりました。

and after the introduction of the new NS house style in 1968,
repainted to yellow and gray, below.

ヤギのヒゲ
1932年にアムステルダムのバークスポー/Werkspoor 社によって製造されました。
鉄道愛好家には、"ヤギのヒゲ/ Sikken”と呼ばれているようです。
オランダ語での愛称は、"Oersik" (これが何を意味するのかわかりません）。
Sikken
The series is numbered 103-152 and the locomotive is number 137.
Manufactured in 1932 by Werkspoor in Amsterdam.
Railway enthusiasts seem to call this, "Sikken (goat's mustache)".
Nicknamed in Dutch is "Oersik" (I don't know what this means).

3) Map 🅒 ; ジャンボ・エクスプレス / JUMBO EXPRESS
'ミニ電車' に子供達が乗って、博物館北側の広い敷地を回ります。
ミニ電車ですが、名前は" ジャンボ・エクスプレス"！
コースは、子供達の目線に合わせた風景が作られています。
残念ながら、大人は乗ることができません。

Children ride 'Mini train' around the large site north of the Museum.
It is a mini train, but the name is "Jumbo Express"!
The course is tailored to the children's perspective.
Unfortunately, adults cannot ride.

ミニ・アドベンチャー
ジャンボ・エクスプレスの敷地内には、海を模した池があります。
そこでは綱渡しのボートがあり、灯台のある島に渡ることができます。
ですが殆どの子供は島を訪れることなくすぐに戻ります。
Mini-Adventure
There is a pond imitating the sea skirted by the Jumbo Express.
There is a cable boat that crosses to the island with its lighthouse.
But most children ignore visiting the island and return immediately.

踏切
踏切もありますが遮断機はありません。
ジャンボ・エクスプレスがやってくる時には各自、判断して止まります。
このやり方は日本の施設では難しいかと思います。
必ず、「危ない！」と苦言する人がいて、
主催者はその声を無視することができないからです。
Level Crossings
There are level crossings, but there are no barriers.
When Jumbo Express comes, people stop by their own judgment.
I think this method is problematic in Japanese facilities.
Always "Dangerous!" Someone would complainsuch that the organizer cannot ignore the warning. |

石の彫像がいくつか設置されています。
鉄道博物館に彫像を配置する感性はとてもヨーロッパ的に感じます。

The sensibility of placing statues in the Railway Museum feels very European.

男の子がいっぱい！
博物館にいる時には気がつきませんでしたが、
男の子が断然女の子よりも多いのです。 乗り物系は男の子に人気があるのは万国共通なのですね〜。 Many Boys!
I didn't notice when I was in the museum,
but there are definitely more boys than girls.
Vehicles are popular among boys in all countries.

I am impressed with this idea.トンネルを思わせる壁があり、その輪郭が フェード・アウトする絵のようになっています。 こういう発想に感心します。 Picnic Area There is a wall reminiscent of a tunnel, and its outline looks like a picture that fades out.

4) 美しい警告 / Beautiful Warning
博物館では、いくつかのアミューズメントを特別なスペース(施設)に用意していますが、私達は殆どのこういった場所へは入りませんでした。
理由としては、他に目を奪われるものがあリ、Rが暑さで人混みを避ける傾向にあり、鉄道博物館の後に、"ミッフィー博物館 / Miffy Museum" (完全予約制)の見学時間を予約していたので、時間の制約もあったからでした。
私達が唯一、入場した"ハコモノのアミューズメント"が "Spoorloper" (トラック・ランナー)でした。
規模が小さく時間がかからないとわかっていたこと、待ち時間がなかったこと、
1つくららいは入ってみたいと私が思い、Rを無理やり誘いました。

Beautiful Warning
The Museum has some amusements in special spaces (facilities), but we didn't get into most of these places.
The reasons were that other things were eye-catching, also R tends to avoid crowds due to the heat, and we had already booked our visit to the " Miffy Museum" (by appointment only) after the Railway Museum, so there was a time limit.
We only entered "Spoorloper" (Track Runner), one of the special Amusement spaces.
I knew that the scale was small and it wouldn't take long, we didn't have to wait, and
I wanted to enter at least one, so I forcibly invited R.

中は暗く、突然の音や光で緊張感を持ちますが、
とにかく、美しく仕上げていて、好感を持ちます。
The inside is dark and has a sense of tension with sudden sounds and light,
but anyway, it is beautifully finished, so I had a good feeling.

子供達は喜ぶのかわかりませんが、影絵の映像が素敵だったので、少なくとも私は入ってよかったと思います。
I don't know if the kids will be pleased,, the shadow pictures were very good, so I at least was glad for entering there.

信号扱所
この信号扱所は、1911年にホーゲザンド＝サッペメール / Hoogezand-Sappemeer
の国鉄向けに建てられました。
1986年に廃止され、その後1988年に鉄道博物館の敷地に再建されました。
まだ機能しており、博物館のボランティアは
定期的にポイント装置の操作を確かめています。
SIGNAL BOX This signal box was built in 1911 in Hoogezand-Sappemeer for the State Railways.
It was decommissioned in 1986, after which it was rebuilt in 1988
in the grounds of the Railway Museum.
It is still working,
the volunteers of the museum regularly demonstrate the operation of the points.

蒸気機関車の水タンクまたは炭水車に水を補給する手段が必要です。
この給水塔は、ウォーター・クレーンを1基は備えています。

6) 忘れないために / To Remember

積載車
鉄道博物館前に "ユダヤ人記念碑" があります。
また、ここにも人々を運んだ積載車の1つが展示され、
中へも入ることができます。
この積載車は、ルーマニアで見つかりました。
Loaded Trains
A monument to 1,200 Jews who lived in Utrecht
and died during World War II (1939 -1945).
The majority were carried off from Maliebaan Station to extermination camps.
There is a "Jewish Memorial" in front of the Museum.
Also on display here is one of baggage cars that carried the people,
and you can get inside.
This was found in Romania.

6) 時を超える列車 / Train Through Time

どの時代の16時47分でしょう？
時計と並んでいますが、時刻掲示板の時間が過去に思えて仕方がありません。
(ちなみにこの時計の時刻は不正確です）
In Which Era is this "16:47"? It's lined up with the clock, but for me
the time on the platform display seems to be in the past.
(By the way, the time on this clock was incorrect)

レッド・デビル！
NS 114 ; Plan U
愛称はレッド・デビル (でも顔はひょうきん系ですよね）
プランUは、オランダ鉄道のディーゼル列車で
1960年にユトレヒトのヴァークスポー / Werkspoor N.V 工場で製造されました。
博物館は2003年に'NS114'の所有権を取得し、
2009年に列車を実用可能な状態に修復しました。
'レッド・デビル'は薔薇にもある名前です。
私は、この電車然り、薔薇しかり、名前を知った時には
知る前よりもずっと双方魅力的に感じました。
この名前：'レッド・デビル' には人を惹きつける何かがあるのでしょう。
Red Devil!
NS 114 ; Plan U
Nickname is Red Devil. (But the face is a waggish type, isn't it?)
The Plan U was a type of Netherlands Railway diesel electric train
and manufactured in 1960 at the Werkspoor N.V in Utrecht.
The Museum took ownership of NS114 in 2003
and renovated the train to a serviceable state in 2009.
'Red Devil' is the name of a rose, too.
When I knew the name of the train and the rose,
I felt both much more attractive than before.
There may be something that attracts people to this name: 'Red Devil' .

愛称は、ヒッペルまたはバッキー。
1955年英国プレストンのディック・カー・ワークス工場で製造された
ディーゼル電車です。
車両全体に「これでもかっ！」と、いっぱいにペイントされています。
私にはちょっと刺青のように感じ、車両の痛みを感じてしまいます。
NS Locomotive 673 (formerly NS 605)
Nickname: Hippel / Bucky
A Diesel-electric engine manufactured
at the Dick Car Works Plant in Preston, Britain in 1955.
The entire vehicle has been repainted as if it weren't already painted enough.
I feel a bit like a tattoo and feel the pain in the vehicle.

郵便車
愛称はモーター・ポスト。
郵便物の輸送用に特別に装備されています。
1966年にユトレヒトのヴァークスポー / Werkspoor N.V 工場で製造されました。
最初は茶色と黄色の車両でしたが、
1980年代に全ての郵便車両が黄色と赤に塗り替えられました。
ほとんどの郵便輸送が夜に行われたので、
その配色になったのではないかと思います。
2001年に全ての郵便輸送がなくなり、この車両が博物館に寄付されました。
赤と黄色と説明にはありますが、
現在の実際の色はレンガ色とクリーム色になっています。
Post Car
NS mP 3031 is a train, very similar to NS Mat '64 ; PlanV.
Nicknamed Motor Post / Motorpost .
Specially equipped for the transport of mail.
Manufactured by Werkspoor N.V. Factory in Utrecht, in 1966
At first they were brown and yellow carriages,
but in the 1980s all postal carriages were repainted yellow and red.
Most of the mailing took place at night, so I think that's the colour scheme.
In 2001, all postal services ceased and the carriages was donated to the Museum.
Although the description is red and yellow,
the current actual colours are red-brick and cream.

鉄道博物館は、展示物も娯楽あり、歴史あり、アートありで、多方面に渡り、スタッフも親切、施設もよく維持されていたように思います。
たくさんの来場者を迎えていました。
けれども、大人の観光客はあまりいないように感じました。
まあ、乗り物にあまり興味のない人は、オランダでもっとオランダを感じる観光地へ行くのもわかるようには思います。
私とRは、ここで十分に楽しく過ごしました。
博物館、博物館のみなさん、ありがとうございました。

I think that the Railway Museum has exhibits which include entertainment, history, and art, the staff are friendly, and facilities seem to have been well-maintained.
There were many visitors.
However, I felt there weren't many adult tourists.
Well, if you're not very interested in vehicles, you'll probably find that you're going to a destination in the Netherlands that feels more Dutch.
I and R had a good time here.
