私と夫Rは、オランダのユトレヒト / Utrecht 市に一週間、滞在し、最初の観光地として、ユトレヒトにある、"鉄道博物館 / Railway Museum  / Het Spoorwegmuseum" を選びました。

鉄道博物館後、"ミッフィー博物館 / Miffy Museum"へ向かいました。

このセクションは、"ミッフィー博物館 "までの散策についてです。

"Steam Locomotive" to "Miffy"
I and my husband R stayed for a week in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and we chose our first sightseeing spot in Utrecht : "Railway Museum  / Het Spoorwegmuseum".

After the Railway Museum, we headed to "Miffy Museum".

"蒸気機関車"から"ミッフィー"まで歩きました。
We walked from "Steam Locomotive" to "Miffy".

ミッフィー博物館は近い！

鉄道博物館近くにディック・ブルーナー (1927 – 2017)の

創作キャラクターの交通標識がありました。
言うまでもありませんが、ディック・ブルーナーはミッフィの創作者です。
ミッフィ博物館は、正確にはブルーナー博物館なのだと思います。
この標識から、ミッフィ博物館が近くにあること、

オランダの人々、子供達に愛されていることを感じます。

Miffy Museum is Near!

Near the Railway Museum, I saw a traffic sign with

a character of Dick Bruna (1927-2017).

Needless to say, Dick Bruna is the creator of Miffy.

I think the Miffy Museum is exactly the Bruna Museum.

The sign tells us that the Miffy Museum is nearby and

Bruna's work is loved by Dutch people and children.

2) スタツバイテングラハト運河 / Stadsbuitengracht

鉄道博物館から、マリーブルク橋を渡り、スタツバイテングラハト運河/ Stadsbuitengracht沿い(ゾンネンブルク / Zonnenburg)を歩きました。

スタツバイテングラハト運河は、旧市街を外周する運河で、12世紀に都市の防衛施設として作られました。

Stadsbuitengracht
From the Railway Museum, we crossed the Malieburg Bridge and walked along the Stadsbuitengracht Canal (Zonnenburg).

Stadsbuitengracht is the canal around the old town of the city and was built in the 12th century as a defence work for the city.

マリーブルク橋 / Mariburg Bridge

振り返って、マリーブルク橋を見ました。
渡ったときはわかりませんでしたが、素敵な橋だったのですね〜。

Looking back, I saw the Mariburg Bridge.

I didn't know when I crossed it, but it is a wonderful bridge.

夏休みの景色
橋だけの景色も魅力的ですがボートや人が一緒でも素敵。

Summer Holiday Scenery
The scenery of the bridge alone is also attractive,
though it is even more wonderful with boats and people.

土の道なのもいい！
日本はこんな感じの景色が減ってゆくように感じます。

It's also good on a soil path.
I feel the scenery like this is shrinking in Japan.

3) セルヴァース公園 (ゾンネンブルグ要塞公園)
　  Park Servaasbolwerk (Sonnenborgh)
A. 要塞 / Fort
私達は、運河沿いの道から、セルヴァース公園 / Sonnenborgh (ゾンネンブルグ要塞公園) へ入りました。

セルヴァース : Servaasbolwerk は、この地に立っていた中世の修道院の名前に由来し、通りの名前にもなっています。

カール5世皇帝 / Charles V (1500 -1558) は、1544年から1558年にかけてユトレヒトの街を防衛するために、スタツバイテングラハト運河の内部に4つの石の要塞を建設しました。

ゾンネンブルグ要塞もその一つで、現在、その跡地は公園と "ゾンネンブルグ天文台と博物館" / Sonnenborgh Sterremwacht (Sonnenburg Observatory) になっています。

私達は公園を通りましたが、その時は、ゾンネンブルグ天文台のことを知りませんでした。

知っていたとしても、"ミッフィー博物館" (完全予約制)の見学予約時間があったので、立ち寄ることはできませんでした。

ちなみに、カール5世皇帝は複数の国の君主でした。

神聖ローマ皇帝在位 : 1519 - 1556 
スペイン国王在位: 1516 - 1556 
オーストリア大公 : 1519 -1521 
ブルゴーニュ公 (シャルル2世) およびオランダ君主 : 1506 -1555

いったい、どの国から守ろうとして要塞を作ったのでしょう...もう、私は調べませんよ！(苦笑)。

Fort

We entered Park Servaasbolwerk (Sonnenborgh : Fortress Selvers) from the canal path.

Servaasbolwerk is derived from the name of the medieval monastery that stood here, and is also the name of the street.

Charles V  (1500 -1558 ) built four stone fortifications inside the Statsweigracht Canal between 1544 and 1558 to defend the city of Utrecht.

Sonnenborgh was one of them.

Its former site is now the park and "Sonnenburg Observatory and Museum" (Sonnenborgh Sterremwacht). 

We walked through the park but did not know about Sonnenberg Observatory at that time.

Even if we knew, we couldn't visit because we already had our timed reservation for "Miffy Museum" (by appointment only) .

By the way, Emperor Charles V was the monarch of several countries.

Reigned as the Holy Roman Emperor : 1519 -1556 
King of Spain : 1516 - 1556 
Archduke of Austria : 1519 - 1521 
Duke of Burgundy and Lord of the Netherlands : 1506 - 1555.

Which countries did he create the fortress to protect the city from?

I won't look into it anymore! (Wry Smile).

これは何かしら〜? 

これは、"解放の木 記念碑" でした。

第二次世界大戦（1939〜1945）の後、"解放の木" とされる木とその "記念碑" は、

ドイツ人が1944年に建てた掩体壕 (エンタイゴウ/ シェルター) 
の近くに設置されました。

記念碑に自転車の赤いチェーンが巻き付けられています。

解放の記念碑にチェーンが巻き付けられているのは皮肉に感じます。

What is this?

I found out that this is the "Liberation Tree Monument".

After World War II (1939 -1945), a tree known as "Liberation Tree" and its Memorial were set up close to a bunker which the Germans had built in 1944.

A red chain of a bicycle is wrapped around the monument.

It feels ironic that the chain is wrapped around the Liberation Monument.

彫像があります！ / There is a statue!

何かを見上げてる！
この時、「私はこの彫像が好きだ〜！」と思いました。  

He looks at something!
At the time, I thought 

' I  like  this statue ~! '

あっ！犬と一緒！
元気がなさそうな犬なのでちょっと気にかかります。

Ah! With a dog!
I'm a little worried because the dog seems to be unwell.

木を見上げていたのですね。
You are looking up at a tree.

写真に本物の犬が2匹います。わかりますか？
In this photograph, there are two real dogs. Do you notice?

左端と右端 / Left Side and Right Side

この時は、木を見上げていると確信したのですが、後になって、ゾンネンブルグ天文台を知り、彼は星を見上げていたのだと思いました。

ですが、もっと後になって、この彫像が

ルートヴィヒ・オズワルド・ウェンケバッハ 
 Ludwig Oswald Wenckebach (1895 - 1962) 
の作品で、題名が

『スプートニク1号を見る男 / The Sputnik Viewer / De spoetnikkijker (1957)』

と知りました。

彫像の彼は、1957年10月4日に、ソビエト連邦が打ち上げた世界初の人工衛星の

スプートニク１号 : ★を見上げていました。

スプートニク1号は、1958年1月4日に大気圏に再突入し、消滅しました。

彼は、今も、スプートニク1号を探しているのでしょうか？

それとも木々の歌声を聞いてるのでしょうか？

At this time, I was convinced that he was looking up at the tree, though later l found out about the Sonnenburg Observatory and so thought he was looking up at the stars.

However, much later, I found out that the statue is a work by Ludwig Oswald Wenckebach (1895-1962), and its title is "The Sputnik Viewer / De spoetnikkijker" (1957).

He looks for "Sputnik 1".

Sputnik 1 launched on October 4, 1957 by the Soviet Union was the world's first artificial satellite.

Sputnik 1 reentered the atmosphere on January 4, 1958, and disappeared.

Is he still looking for Sputnik 1?

Or is he listening to the singing voices of the trees?

『スプートニク1号を見る男』は、2007年10月4日に セルヴァース公園 (ゾンネンブルグ要塞公園)に置かれるまで、どこか別の場所にありました。

2) 補足

スプートニク2号は、1957年11月3日、ソビエト連邦が、ソ連の宇宙犬 : ライカ犬を乗せ、人類史上初めて生命を宇宙に送り出すことに成功しました。

ソビエト連邦は、後の有人宇宙船計画への道を切り開いて行きました。

Sputnik 2 with a Soviet space dog named Laika was launched on November 3, 1957, which was the first life in human history to go into space.

The Soviet Union paved the way for later manned spacecraft programs.

運河と離れてアグニーテン通り/ Agnietenstraat を歩きます。
 We left the canal walking along Agnietenstraat Street.
