From Meriken Whalf to Meriken Park
ですが、当時、波止場のすぐ近くに米国領事館があったことから、'アメリカン' の英語発音から"メリケン波止場" と呼ばれ、そちらが一般的に知られました。
その名は、メリケンパークに引き継がれています。

メリケン波止場は通称で、
"神戸税関
萬國波止場"が正式名だったのですね。

From Meriken Wharf to Meriken Park
The Western part of the Meriken Wharf was filled in and then Meriken Park was made in 1987
In
1868 the Meriken Wharf was established as the third wharf of Hyogo Port and was named "Kobe
Customs International Wharf"
by the Government
of Meiji Japan
(1868 - 1912)
However,
since the US Consulate was near
the Wharf at that time, it was called
"Meriken Wharf" from the Japanese pronunciation of
'American', and that was how it was generally known.
That
name has been taken over by Meriken Park.
There
are the Kobe
Maritime Museum, Hotel Okura, many objects and other things in Meriken
Park.
Nowadays the Park is one of sightseeing spots in Kobe.

2)の頃の"フィッシュ・ダンス"が開港120周年記念で設置されたので、
それから30年もたったのだな〜と時の流れを感じます。

メリケンパークにあるオブジェの中で、最も有名なのが、フィッシュ・ダンス / Fish Dance であると思います。
フィッシュ・ダンス / Fish Dance は、神戸港のメリケンパークに建つ高さ22mの
巨大な鯉のオブジェです。
1987年に神戸開港120年を記念して設置されました。

この作品について長い間賛否両論あったと記憶していますが、
30年経った現在は、ただそこにあるものとして認知されたようで、
両者の声ともあまり聞きません。

私は知りませんでしたが....、1999年に錆対策のためにピンクに塗り替えられ
(え〜っ!? しかも目もついてしまったらしい....)、フランク・ゲーリーから作品への侮辱と批判され (それはそうでしょう）、2005年に当時のシルバーに戻されました。
私は、結構、フランク・ゲーリー作品は好きですが、このフィッシュ・ダンスのテイストはどうなの？という感じ....良いのか、悪いのか、判断がつかないです。
でもフランク・ゲーリー作品と思うと、写真撮影せずにはいられず、複数枚撮ってしまいました。
フランク・ゲーリーの設計したものは日本でこれ唯一なのです!
ホテルが近かったので、撮影の機会も多くあったこともあります。

Fish Dance
I think, among the objects in Meriken Park, the most famous object is Fish Dance.
Fish Dance is the huge carp object, 22m high and was built in 1987 for commemoration of the Kobe Port 120th Anniversary.
I remember that there were arguments for and against this work for a long time, but as 30 years have now passed, I feel that it is just there and I do not hear much of the opinions about it.
Although I did not know .... in 1999 it was painted pink for rust prevention (What!?..moreover it was given eyes as well) and it was criticized as an insult to the work from Frank Gehry (I am quite sure of that), it was returned to the original silver in 2005.

I quite like Frank Gehry's work, however, I wonder about the taste of this fish dance? .... I could not decide if it is good or bad.
But when I think that this work is by Frank Gehry, I could not stop to taking photographs and I photographed a few times.
This is the only work designed by Frank Gehry in Japan!

3) フランク・ゲーリー / Frank Gehry
私にとっての、フランク・ゲーリーの代表作は、スペインのビルバオ・グッゲンハイム美術館とプラハの"ダンシング・ハウス " (ナショナル・ネーデルランデン・ビル)です。
"ダンシング・ハウス " は、2015年に実際、見ました (下記)。

"ビルバオ・グッゲンハイム美術館"と"ダンシング・ハウス "には明らかに
フランク・ゲーリーの個性が感じられますが、フィッシュ・ダンスは、'なきにしもあらず' 程度なのです。
2015年〜2016年に日本でフランク・ゲーリー展が、田根 剛 (タネツヨシ / 1979 -)氏による監修で、行われました（下記）。

For me, Frank Gehry's masterpieces are "Bilbao Guggenheim Museum" in Spain and "Dancing House" (National Netherlanden Building) in Prague.

Actually I looked at "Dancing house" in 2015, below.
I feel that clearly Frank Gehry's personality is shown in "Bilbao Guggenheim Museum" and "Dancing House", however, it is not impossible that Fish Dance might have his personality .

Frank
Gehry has a line of furniture and many Tiffany's jewelry designs, in
addition to a lot of buildings.
He is close to 90 years old, but he is still active.
In
2017 he worked on Berlin Music Hall, PIERRE BOULEZ SAAL.
