1) シベリウス公園まで /  To Sibelius Park

宿泊した、ヘルステン ヘルシンキ パーリメントから、"シベリウス公園 / Sibelius Park / Sibeliuksen puisto"が近いので、ヘルシンキ、最終日の朝に散歩がてら出かけました。

公園近くにある、海沿いの"カフェ、レガッタ / Kahvila Regatta"で朝食の予定もしていました。

Our accommodation, Hellsten Helsinki Parliament is near to the Sibelius Park, so we went out for a walk in our last morning in Helsinki. 

I had a plan that we would have breakfast in "Cafe Regatta / Kahvila Regatta" beside the sea, near to the park.

雁の一群

"エスペリア遊歩道 / Hesperian esplanadi"を歩いていて
雁の群れに会いました。
ヘルシンキでは鴨よりも雁を見る機会が多かったように感じます。

A Troop of Wild Geese 

When we walked on "Hesperian promenade / Hesperian esplanadi",

there was a troop of wild geese.

I feel I saw geese more than ducks in Helsinki.

近代的な建物

きっと海の景色を楽しめるのでしょう。

Modern Building

They must be enjoying sea views.

遊歩道をはずれてこちらの小道を歩き始めました。

でも、ここはすでにシベリア公園内だったのです。

We deviated from the promenade and begun to walk up this path.
But already, here was Sibelius Park.

気持ちよく歩きました。静かでした。
I walked comfortably. Here was quiet.

おとぎ話に出てくるような、家は何？
ポウリギン ヴィラ / Pauligin huvila : ★
もともと貸別荘として、1873年に建設され、現在は、
青少年、青少年団体に主に無料で貸し出されています。

What is this, a fairytale house?

Originally, it was built in 1873 as a rental vacation cottage, 

and it is loaned out for free mainly now for young people 
and young people's group.

2) シベリウス公園 / Sibelius Park

ジャン・シベリウス / JeanSibelius (1865-1957) の80歳の誕生日を記念して、1945年に名付けられたのが 、"シベリウス公園 / Sibeliuksen puisto"です。

"Sibelius Park / Sibeliuksen puisto" was named in 1945 in commemoration of the 80-year-old birthday of JeanSibelius (1865-1957).

シベリウス・モニュメント/ Sibelius monument の周りは、
ツアー客でいっぱい。

人がいなくなるのを待とうと思いましたが、

違うツアーの団体が次々到着するので、諦めました。

Around the Sibelius Monument is full of tour visitors.

I intended to wait for people to disappear,
but I gave up because different tour groups arrived in sequence.

モニュメントは、1967年に開催されたコンテストで選ばれました。

フィンランドの女流彫刻家、エイラ＝ヒルトゥネン / Eila Hiltunen (1922 - 2003) の作品です。

デザインがパイプ・オルガンを様式化(抽象化)したものでしたが、シベリウスがパイプ・オルガンのための作曲を殆どしなかったので、物議がおこり、その解決策として、彼女はモニュメントのそばにシベリウスの顔を加えることを要求されたのです。

The monument was chosen by a contest held in 1967.

The work is by Finnish sculptress, a Finnish sculptress Eila Hiltunen (1922 - 2003).

The design performed stylization (abstraction) of organ pipes, however, almost none of Sibelius's compositions were for organ, so it gave rise to public censure.

As a solution, she was requested to add Sibelius's face beside the main sculpture.

上記の理由から、シベリウスにそっくりの巨大な顔になったのだと思えます。
抽象作品なのに、顔だけ具象なので、違和感がかなりあります。
まあ、これが大人の事情ということですか？
エイラ＝ヒルトゥネンはどんな気持ちで作ったのでしょう？

私は彼女の投げやりな気持ちが多少感じられます。
または彼女の努力が感じられます。

Sibelius Portrait Sculptor 
Because of the reason above, I think it became very similar to a huge Sibelius face.

This work is abstract art, however, only the face is representational, 
so it has quite feeling of wrongness.
Well, is this a 'grown-up situation' or none of our business?
I wonder how she felt when she made this?
I feel her being a little haphazard.
Or I feel her efforts.
