1)リハビリの散歩 - 3月11日
1)Walking as Rehabilitation 11th March
業者によるウッドデッキや外壁のぺんき塗りの日、二日目でした。
お天気が良かったので、ペンキ屋さんの仕事もすすむでしょうと思いつつ、出かけました。
Today the wooden decks and fences were being burnished for the second day by two painters. The weather was quite good, so I thought they worked easier and we left there for walking as rehabilitation.
2)ピザレストラン：ラ•ソスタに居るときに
2) When we were in Pizzeria La Sosta
ラ•ソスタの中庭
La Sosta’Gaden
ラ•ソスタで、おそめのランチをとりました。そこで大地震があり、すぐ停電になりました。
Rにとっては人生初の地震で、大きな揺れであってもそれが通常のものとかなり違うことが彼にはわかりません。彼は船に乗っているようだと表現していました。それはお店の内装も関係しているかもしれません。
携帯も使用できず、お店の方も私達も何も情報が得られませんでした。何もわからないまま店を出ました。おまわりさんが自転車で走っていたのを見かけ、聞くと、鎌倉全域で停電、信号機も止まってしまっていると知りました。
市役所の防災アナウンスが
"由比ケ浜で地震がありました"
と伝えていました。私は相模湾が震源地かと思いましたよ。何故なら、相模湾は歴史上の大地震の震源地にたびたびなっているのです。例えば、そのひとつは1923年 (大正12年) の関東大震災を起こしました。
アナウンスの伝え方が曖昧で確信はもてませんでしたが、それらの情報を伝えにラ•ソスタに一度戻りました。
後になって、その地震は東北地方太平洋沖地震
の余波またはその一部であったと知りますが、そとのき、その日 (2011年3月11日) は何も知りませんでした。
私達は再び歩いて、帰宅しました。
信号機は止まっていても、交通状態はスムーズに流れているように感じました。
私が東北で大地震や津波があったのを知ったのは、夕方に、英国バースの大家さんのTが日本にいる私達を心配して送った携帯メールだったのです。
午後8時には電気が回復しました。
When we were in Pizzeria La Sosta
We had late lunch in La Soata. Then we had a big earthquake and immediately there was power faire.
For R, it was the first earthquake in his life, so of course he did not realize it was a strange from unusual, even though he felt very big wave. He described we seem to be on a ship. Maybe the interior of the restaurant affected his thought, too.
We could not use our mobile phone, so we and the staff did not get any information about the happening. While we did not know anything, we left there. Then we saw police who got on a bicycle and ask him, then we knew that everywhere in Kamakura was power faire, even traffic lights did not work.
The emergency announcement of the local government said
"There was an earthquake in Yuigahama (: one of Kamakura's beaches in Sagami Bay)"
I though Sagami Bay was the epicenter, because historically Sagami Bay has been the epicenter of several big earthquakes in Kantou, including Tokyo, about every 200 years.
For example, the Great Kantou earthquake in 1923.
Although the announcement was distorted, anyway we returned to the restaurant to tell them about what I had heard.
Later we knew the earthquake was the aftereffects or one of the Great East Japan Earthquake :
2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami,
Eastern Japan Great Earthquake Disaster / Higashi Nihon Daishinnsai :
However, we did not know anything at that time,
11th March 2011.
We could walk to our home.
It seemed that the traffic was smoother than usual, even though the traffic lights did not work.
I knew Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in the evening from mobile phone e-mail from T who was my landlord in Bath, worried about me or us in Japan.
Electricity came back at 8 pm.

A. 日常生活 / Daily Life
Rが買い物に出たときに、多くの品物がスーパーマーケットやコンビニからなくなっていることを知りました。それでも、私達の生活は比較的通常通りでしたし、近所の方々 (N, H &TJ) が私達が品薄なものを見計らって差し入れしてくださりました。
計画停電が何日か続きました。
夕方に計画停電があるときは灯油のストーヴ (アラジン) がある友人、 H &TJさんが、我が家がオール電化なのと、まだ通常に歩く事ができない私がいるので、車で送り迎えしてくださいました。
皆様、いつも助けていただきありがとうございます。
Daily Life
When R went out shopping, there were not many things in supermarkets and convenience stores, then we noticed this phenomenon. Although our lives were relatively normal and also our
neighbors : N and H &TJ, guess things which we did not have enough for now, and then they gave them to us.
We had power cuts for a few days. When we had evening power cuts, H &TJ who have a kerosene stove, gave us lifts to and from their home, because our house is all electric and I could not walk normally yet.
Thank you very much always for your help.
B. 映像 と心配 / Pictures and Solicitude
予想をこえる悲惨な映像が国内外で放映されました。我が家にはTVがないので、ネットを通した映像を見ました。
英国のバースで大家さんだったTからもご近所だったJからもお見舞いのメールがきました。
もちろんRの家族は私達の安否を訪ねたり、今後の予定などの電話やメールがありました。
彼らは私達が鎌倉に住んでいる事を知ってはいても、それが日本のどのへんにあるのかを明確に把握していません。なので、英国で放映されている映像を見れば、それは心配になるでしょう。
阪神•淡路大震災 (1995) を経験した友人達からもメールでの心配の問い合わせが来ました。
私もインターネットで被災地の映像を見ていますので、実際の被災された方々のことを思うと、大きなダメージを受けていない私 (達) がこんなに心配されて、申し訳ないような気持ちがしました。
Pictures and Solicitude
Unexpected tragic views broadcast domestically and overseas. We do not have TV, so we have seen some of the scenes by Internet.
We had a few concerned e-mails from ex- landlord T and a neigbor J in Bath in UK. Off course, R's family called and send e-mail about our safety and any plans. Even though they knew that we live in Kamakura, they do not know where Kamakura is in Japan. Therefore after they watched the broadcast about Japan, off course they would be worried.
Moreover, my friends who had experienced the Great Hanshin earthquake in 1995, send e-mails and asked about our safety, too.
We did not have a big damage from the disaster, although many people were worried about us.
So I felt even more sorry for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami.
C. 何かできること / What can we do!?
私達に何ができるかと考えました。まずは、寄付金をコープ (coop) を通してしました。
次は何かの機会に自分ができることを見つけた時に考えましょう！
その後、その大災害は東日本大震災と名付けられました。
震災はたくさんの問題をひきおこし、今も解決がされていないことがたくさんあります。福島の原子炉の問題、それによって放射能汚染の問題、風評被害、その他。それでも、少しずつは改善されてはいるはいるのでしょう。私はそう信じたいです。
そして被害者の方々とその地域がよりはやく復興することを願っています。
What can we do?
We wondered what we could do for them. First of all, we contributed through 'coop'. In the next place, when I find something which I can do,
I will think again.
Later the disaster named
"HIGASHI NIPPON DAISHINSAI :
Eastern Japan Great Disaster".
The disaster made many problems and still they haven't solved problems. For example, Fukushima Nuclear Power Station which made radioactive contamination and financial damage caused by misinformation and so on.
However, there have been some improvements. I would believe like that.
And I hope the victim and the area will be restored quickly.
4) 鎌倉で見た / Seeing it in Kamakura
3月18日見た事もない変な雲が鎌倉の空に。We saw strange clouds in the sky over Kamakura 18th March which we had never seen before.
鎌倉宮 / Kamakura-gu
鎌倉宮も異様な雲の下にあり、赤茶色のトーンがかかっていました。それは昔の怪奇映画のシーンのようでした。千葉のコンビナートなどの火災の雲でしょうか？？？
Kamakura-gu was under the bizarre clouds, so there was covered with red-brown colour. It looked like a scene in horror film.
I wonder if they were made in fires of industrial complex in Chiba prefecture???
