9月26日 ~ 10月1日、私は、姉Yと鹿児島県へ旅行しました。

On The First Train
From 26th of September to 1st of October I travelled with my sister Y to Kagoshima Prefecture.
On September 26th, my sister Y and I went from Kagoshima Airport to Makurazaki City by bus.
We stayed 2 nights in Makurazaki City, 1 night in Kagoshima City and 2 nights in Kirishima City.
About staying in Makurazaki, below.

This section is mainly about the Ibusuki Makurazaki Line from Makurazaki Station to Kagoshima-Chūō Station.
枕崎駅を出発してすぐ動画を撮りました。

2) 車窓 / Window Views
A. 薩摩塩屋駅 / Satsumashioya Station

| 開聞岳？/ Mount Kaimon? |
観光案内所の方が、
「明日は晴れるから、開聞岳 (カイモンダケ)がよく見えますよ」
と言ってくだっさった通り、よく、みえました。

ただ、電車の窓が汚れているのが残念！
実は、出発前に自分たちの席の窓を外側からも内側からも拭きました。
拭いた後は、ましにはなりましたが...
Satsumashioya Station
The tourist information centre staff said,
"It will be sunny tomorrow, so you can see Mt. Kaimon very well."
We could see it just like he said.
However, it is a pity that the windows of the train are dirty!
In fact, before we left, I wiped the windows by our seats, both inside and outside.
After I wiped it off, it got better, but...

| 薩摩塩屋駅 薩摩塩屋駅 (サツマシオヤ) の駅名標に 波と千代香 (チョカ / チョッカ) が描かれています。 千代香は、鹿児島県の薩隅方言(サツグウホウゲン)で 扁平(ヘンペイ)で、注ぎ口の付いた陶磁器の 土瓶、銚子のことです。 現在は主に焼酎を温めるために用いられています。 Satsumashioya Station Waves and Choka (or Chokka) are drawn on the station name sign of the Satsuma Shioya Station. Choka is one word in the Kagoshima dialect that refers to a flat earthenware pot with a spout. Currently, it is mainly used for warm shōchū. |

B. 西頴娃駅 / Nishi-Ei Station

| 西頴娃駅 西頴娃駅 (ニシエイエキ) は、山川駅 - 枕崎駅間 で唯一、列車交換設備があります。 Nishi-Ei Station Nishi-Ei Station is the only station on the single line railway between Yamakawa and Makurazaki Station that has a 'train meet' operation.  |
無人駅では前の車両のドアのみ開きます。
降りる時も一番前のドアからで、整理券にあった金額を料金箱へ入れます。
運転手さんが運転席を離れて、下車する乗車客をチェックします。
見慣れない風景をおもしろく眺めました。

At unmanned stations, only the doors of the carriage in front open.
When passengers get off, go through the front door and put the amount that matches the numbered ticket into the fare box.
The driver leaves the driver's seat and checks the passengers who are getting off.
I enjoyed looking at the unfamiliar scenery.

| 西頴娃駅 の駅名標 残念ながら、私はその駅名標は撮影できませんでした。 '怪獣イッシー' の存在を初めて知りました！ Station Name Sign at Nishi-Ei Station According to Japanese Wiki about this Station, "The station name sign has been updated with a unique design, featuring the Kaijyu (monster) Isshi swimming between Mt. Kaimon and the Lake Ikeda." Unfortunately, I couldn't take a picture of the station name sign. I found about the existence of 'Kaiju Isshi' for the first time! |

| 注意書きに、 "安全に運転するため、運転士へのお声かけは、 停車中にお願いします。" とあります。 運転手に聞いてしまいたくなってしまう距離感ですよね。 The notice says, "For safe driving, if you want to ask the driver, please while the train is stopped." It's a sense of closeness that makes us want to ask the driver, doesn't it? |

| 江ノ電を彷彿させます。 江ノ電は、こんな緑に囲まれたまっすぐな場所は無いですが...。 It reminds me of Enoden. However, the Enoden doesn't have a straight place surrounded by greenery like this... |
C. 頴娃駅 / Ei Station

| 頴娃駅 正面の窓からの開聞岳が見えます。 頴娃駅 (エイエキ) も無人駅です。 枕崎 -山川間は、すべて無人駅であることに気がつきました。 '頴娃'という言葉は、氏族・頴娃氏 (エイシ) に 由来するらしいです。 島津家から、1420年にこの周辺の土地 (頴娃の地) を与えられ、 1588年まで治めたようです。 頴娃氏は、島津家の家臣でした。 Ei Station I can see Mt, Kaimon from the front window. Ei Station is also an unmanned station. I noticed that all the stations between Makurazaki and Yamakawa are unmanned. The word 'Ei' : 頴娃' seems to come from the Ei Clan : 頴娃氏. In 1420, the Shimazu Clan gave Ei Clan the surrounding land (the land of Ei). Ei Clan seems to have ruled there until 1588. Ei Clan was a vassal of the Shimazu Clan. |
枕崎駅を出たときには、私達だけでしたが、徐々に乗客が増えて指宿駅 (イブスキエキ) 近くでは満席で、立っている人も多くいました。
(ぎゅうぎゅう詰めではありません）
勤め人でなく、学生さんばかりでした。
私たちは、きっとお勤めの人は自分の車を使うのだと話しました。
数人の学生さんは薩摩今和泉駅 (サツマイマイズミエキ)よりも前におりましたが、ほとんどの学生は、薩摩今和泉駅で、下車しました。
あとになって、そこには、指宿市立指宿商業高等学校 (イブスキシリツ イブスキ ショウギョウ コウトウガッコウ) があることを知りました。
また、今和泉島津家別邸跡 (イマイズミシマズケ ベッテイアト)
[篤姫 ( アツヒメ / 1836 - 1883) の生家] もあります。
徳川 家定 (トクガワ イエサダ /1824 - 1858 / 在任：1853 - 1858）の正室でした。
When we left Makurazaki Station, we were the only passengers, but the number of passengers gradually increased, and near Ibusuki Station, the seats were full, and many people were standing. (It was not crammed.)
They were all students, not working people.
We discussed that people who work would probably use their own cars.
A few students got off before Satsuma Izumi Station, although most of the students got off at Satsuma-Izumi Station.
Later, I found that Ibusuki Municipal Ibusuki Commercial High School was located there.
There is also the site of the Izumi-Shimadzu Clan villa [the birthplace of Atsu-hime : Tenshō-in (1836-1883)].
Tenshō-in was the lawful wife of Tokugawa Iesada (1824 - 1858 / in office : 1853 - 1858), the 13th Shogun of the Edo Shogunate.

| 薩摩富士 開聞岳が富士山のようです。 別名が '薩摩富士' というのに納得が行きます。 Satsuma Fuji' Mt. Kaimon looks like Mt.Fuji. It makes sense that the other name is 'Satsuma Fuji'. |
沿線の木々が車両にあたり、ピシピシ、バシバシ当たる音がかなり続きました。
私とYは、電車内では聞きなれないその音に内心驚き、顔を見合わせて、その驚きを理解し、共有しましたが、ほかの乗客はまったく気にしていないようでした。
彼らにとっては、日常の音なのですね。

| 白と黄色の曼珠沙華 珍しい色の曼珠沙華 (マンジュシャゲ: 彼岸花 / ヒガンバナ)です。 鹿児島に来て、初めてこの色の曼珠沙華の存在を知りました。 White And Yellow Spider Lily It is a red spider lily with rare colours. It was only when I came to Kagoshima that I found about the existence of the colours of the Spider Lily for the first time. |
Trees along the line hit the train, and the sound of hitting continued for a long time.
Y and I were surprised by the sound, which was unfamiliar to us on a train.
We looked at each other, understood and shared the surprise, but the other passengers didn't seem to mind it at all.
For them, it is the sound of everyday life.
D. 阿多カルデラ / Ata Caldera

開聞岳にもっとも近いと思われる場所で多数の写真撮影を試みました。
この地域の後に、鹿児島県最南端及びJR日本最南端の駅、西大山駅 (ニシオオヤマエキ) があったのですが、乗車中、そのことを知らず、撮影しませんでした。
ちょっと残念。

| 霧島錦江湾国立公園 開聞岳は、 霧島錦江湾国立公園 (キリシマ キンコウワン コクリツコウエン) に含まれます。 以前は霧島屋久島国立公園 (キリシマ ヤクシマ コクリツコウエン) でしたが、2011年に屋久島が 屋久島国立公園として独立しました。 Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park Mt. Kaimon is part of Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park. It used to be Kirishima Yakushima National Park, but in 2011 Yakushima Island became independent as Yakushima National Park. |
I tried to take a lot of pictures at what I thought was the closest place to Mt. Kaimon.
After this area, there should be the southernmost station in Kagoshima prefecture and JR Japan's southernmost station, Nishi-Ōyama Station, however, I didn't know about this while moving on the train and didn't take a picture.
A little disappointing.

| 竹山 竹山神社がある山です。 阿多(アタ)カルデラの外輪山に当たり、 天狗伝説の残る霊山だそうです。 'スヌーピー山'という愛称があるそうです(笑)。 いろいろな意味づけがされて面白いです。 形の不思議さに人々が惹かれる証拠のように思います。 Take-yama : Mt. Bamboo This is the mountain where Takeyama Shrine is located. This mountain is the outer rim of the Ata Caldera, and is said to be a sacred mountain where the Tengu legend remains. It is nicknamed 'Mount Snoopy', ha-ha. It's interesting that it has various meanings. I think it's proof that people are attracted to the wonder of shapes.  |

E. 鹿児島湾 / Kagoshima Bay

| 鹿児島湾 地元の人は、鹿児島湾を"錦江湾 (キンコウワン)"と 呼ぶそうです。 右手は山川漁港です。 Kagoshima Bay Local people call Kagoshima Bay "Kinkowan: Kinko Bay". Yamakawa fishing port is on the right. |

| モダンな電車 指宿駅、7:30頃 モダンな電車は、黄色のキハ200形。 車体に、'NANOHANA'とあるので、 この黄色は菜の花に由来するのでしょう。 このタイプの電車は、鹿児島中央駅～山川駅までの運転で、 枕崎までは来ないようです。 鹿児島中央駅方面からの多くの列車が山川駅で折り返し、 この先枕崎駅方面は本数が大幅に減るそうです。 Modern Train Ibusuki Station, about 7:30 The modern train is a yellow Kiha 200. There is 'NANOHANA' ; Rape in Japanese on the body, so this yellow must be derived from rape blossoms. This type of train runs from Kagoshima-Chūō Station to Yamakawa Station, and does not seem to come to Makurazaki. Many trains from Kagoshima-Chūō station turn around at Yamagawa station, and the number of trains going to Makurazaki station is greatly reduced. |
私たちは枕崎駅から鹿児島中央駅へ直通の電車に乗りました。
There are currently 6 trains departing from Makurazaki Station a day, 3 of which change at Ibusuki Station or Yamakawa Station.
We took a direct train from Makurazaki Station to Kagoshima Chuo Station.

| 宮ケ浜駅周辺 鹿児島湾の向こう側が見えます。 こちら側は、薩摩地域 (サツマチイキ) / 薩摩半島、 あちら側は大隅地域 (オオスミチイキ) / 大隅半島です。 Around Miyagahama Station I can see the other side of Kagoshima Bay. This side is the Satsuma area, Satsuma peninsula, That side is the Ōsumi area, Ōsumi Peninsula. 山は、陣ノ岡 (ジンノオカ)・横尾岳 (ヨコオダケ)でしょうか？ Are the mountains Mt. Jinnooka and Mt. Yokoo?  陣ノ岡は、標高482m、横尾岳は426m。 Mt. Jinnooka is 482m above sea level, and Mt. Yokoo is 426m. |

| 桜島 / Sakura-jima Island 鹿児島湾西岸に薩摩半島があり、 東岸に大隅半島、両半島の間に桜島 (サクラジマ) があります。 大隅半島からは陸続きりであることを今回知りました。 かつては島でしたが、1914年に発生した 桜島大正大噴火 (サクラジマ タイショウダイフンカ) により、 対岸の大隅半島と陸続きになりました。 島が本島と陸続きになってしまうなんて、驚きです。  桜島 / Sakura-jima Island Kagoshima Bay has the Satsuma Peninsula on the west coast, the Ōsumi Peninsula on the east coast, and Sakurajima Island between the two peninsulas. This time I found out that the Ōsumi Peninsula is connected by land. It used to be an island, but due to it became connected to the Ōsumi Peninsula on the opposite shore. It is surprising that the island is connected to the main island. |

Am I the only one who sees dragons or monsters in the volcanic smoke? 海岸線を走る、この普通電車の旅は、今回の旅行で、最も期待していたことの1つでした。
期待を裏切ることのない、思い出に残る時間と空間と経験でした。
前日 (前々日？) まで、不通であったので、やきもきしましたが、無事終了できて、幸せでした。
お世話になった全ての人に、Yに、神様に感謝です。

| 鹿児島中央駅ホーム Kagoshima-Chūō Station Platfom |
This local train trip along the coastline was one of the things I was most looking forward to on this trip.
It was a memorable time, space and experience that did not disappoint.
Until the day before (two days before?), there was no communication, so I was nervous, but I was happy that I was able to finish it safely.
Thank you to all the people who took care of me, to Y, and to God.

| 鹿児島中央駅 入り口 左に花屋さんがあり、そこでお墓参り用の花を買いました。 今日は、義兄 (Yの夫) の家族のお墓参りをします。 Kagoshima Chūō Station Entrance There is a flower shop on the left, where we bought flowers for visiting the grave. Today we visit the family grave of my brother-in-law (Y's husband). |

| 鹿児島市内観光は殆どしない予定なので、 案内板だけ撮影しました。 Since I did't plan to do much sightseeing in Kagoshima City, I only photographed the information board.  |
