随分前から、航空自衛隊の基地へ見学に行ってみたいと思っていました。

航空祭を開催していることを知ってからは、Rと航空祭に行ってみたいとも思っていました。

ようやく、この日、クラブツーリズムの日帰り旅行に参加し、

百里基地航空祭へ行くことができました。

航空祭は入場無料なのですが、百里基地の場所、駐車場などが理由で、旅行会社に支払いをしても私達にとっては日帰り旅行が適した方法でした。

百里基地航空祭は、3年に1度の "航空観閲式"に当たらない年に開催され、5万人弱が来場しています。

(航空観閲式は、1996年以降、原則陸上自衛隊・海上自衛隊・

航空自衛隊の持ち回りで実施されています）

今回の百里基地航空祭のハイライトは、 F-4 ファントムIIの最後の

お披露目でした。(F-4ファントムが退役)

飛行機が好きと言っても、詳しくないし、基礎知識もありません。

あるとすれば、小説やアニメーションで得たイメージしかありません。

そうそう、友人の一人が随分前にパトリオットミサイル開発(関連？)の仕事に携わっていて、自衛隊とも一緒にお仕事をしたことがあり、いくつかの経験談や自衛隊の逸話を聞いたことはありました。

戦闘機となると偶然の機会以外に見ることがありません。

英国に住んでいた頃、バースの家でレッドアローズを一度、スコットランドの谷間をめちゃくちゃ近距離で横になって飛んでいる戦闘機を一度見ました。

見たことはとてもラッキーな偶然だったのだと、のちになって気がつきました。

最もラッキーなのは、戦闘機を見たことをラッキーと思えることです。

この航空祭の機会に、多少はリサーチしましたが、機体の区別が私には難しいです。

写真の説明は、ほぼ自分に対してです(笑)。

他の方々との意気込みや知識、経験値、撮影機材などなどの違いから、私の写真はドラマティックではありません。

トイレはすごく混んでいましたが綺麗！

さすが日本！さすが規律正しい自衛隊！

女性用は男性用よりも混んでいません。

圧倒的に男性が多いのですが、女性もかなりいてびっくりしました。

まあね、５万人近くの来場者ですから、女性もそれなりにいますよね。

飲食店はたくさん出店していました。

私達は、Rの食の問題があるのでランチを持参しました。

Precautions in Japanese

One Day Trip

For a long time, I've wanted to visit a base of the Air Self-Defense Force.

After I knew about air festivals being held, I also wanted to go to an air festival with R.

Finally, on this day, we participated in a day trip run by Club Tourism and were able to go to the Hyakuri Air Base Festival.

The air festival is free to enter, but due to the location of Hyakuri Base, car park etc., even though we paid the travel agency, a day trip was a suitable method for us.

The Hyakuri Air Festival is held every three years in a year that does not correspond to the "Air Viewing Ceremony" and is attended by less than 50,000 people.

(Since 1996, the "Air Viewing Ceremony" has been held in turn by the Ground Self-Defense Force, the Maritime Self-Defense Force, and the Air Self-Defense Force.)

The highlight of this Hyakuri Air Base Festival was the final flight of the F-4 Phantom II.

Even if I say I like aeroplane, I'm not familiar with them and I don't have any basic knowledge.

If I have any knowledge, they are only images obtained from novels and animations.

Oh yeah, one of my friends was involved in the Patriot missile development (related?) work a long time ago, and the person also worked with the Self-Defense Forces, and I've heard some experiences and the Self-Defense Forces anecdotes from the friend.

When it comes to fighters, there is no chance to see one unexpectedly.

When I lived in England, I saw Red Arrows from Bath's house and

I saw a fighter flying very low down from a very short distance in a Scottish valley.

I later realized that they were very lucky coincidences to see them.

The luckiest thing is that seeing a fighter makes me feel lucky.

I did some research on this occasion of the air show, but it is difficult for me to distinguish between the aircraft.

Explanations of photographs are mostly for me (Laugh).

My photographs are not dramatic due to differences in enthusiasm, knowledge, experience, camera equipment, etc. compared with other people.

The toilets were very crowded but clean!

As expected from Japan! As expected, the SDF is disciplined!

Women's ones are less crowded than men's ones.

There are overwhelmingly many men, but I was surprised that there were quite a few women.

Well, there are nearly 50,000 visitors, so there are women as well.

There were many food stalls.

We brought lunch because of R's food problems.

U-125Aは救難捜索機です。

The U-125A is a rescue search aircraft.
Drop supplies!

実際の人間なのに、人形のように見えます。
それは彼らが一定のポーズを崩さないからですね。
日頃の訓練がそんなところからも察しられます。

Even though they look like dolls, they are real humans.

That's because they don't break a certain pose.

I can see the daily training from such a point.

ヘリコプターは、UH-60J・679号機。
アメリカのUH-60 ブラックホークを日本が
救難目的に独自改良した救難ヘリコプターです。

The helicopter is UH-60J・679.
It is a rescue helicopter that Japan independently improved
on the American UH-60 Black Hawk for the purpose of rescue.

ホバリング
ホバリングも技術がいるのであろうと推測します。
パイロットさん、あなたは素晴らしい！
みんながあなたを信頼すればこその救難です。
ありがとう！
鳥のホバリングは獲物を狙う時だけれど、
救難ヘリは人を救う時ですね。

F-15 機動飛行 / F-15 Maneuvering Flight

F-15Jの飛行
下記Wikiより　
"F-15Jは、アメリカ合衆国のマクダネル・ダグラス社
(現ボーイング社)が開発したF-15C/Dイーグルを、
三菱重工業が中心となり、航空自衛隊向けに
ノックダウン(部品を輸入して日本で組み立てる)
及びライセンス生産した制空戦闘機である。"

イーグルは1972年に初飛行、その後修正されつつも
約50年間も現役でいることがすごいな〜と思います。
このF-15J・827号機の初飛行は、1980年です。

F-15J Flight
According to Wiki about F-15J,
"The Mitsubishi F-15J/DJ Eagle is a twin-engine,
all-weather air superiority fighter based on
the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle
in use by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF). "

I think it's amazing that an Eagle made its maiden flight in 1972,
and has been active for about 50 years
while being modified after that.
The first flight of this F-15J ・827 was in 1980.

自衛隊は最新の航空機はあまり使えず、アメリカのお下がり的な型しか使わせてもらえないのかもしれません。

それでもパイロットの技術は優秀で、アメリカとの合同練習では負けはしないし、機体が古い分、パイロットの優秀さを証明するのだと聞いたことがあります。

あの〜、私は思うのですが、パイロットの命が大切だったら、彼らを新しい型の機体に乗せるべきではないでしょうか？

航空機はすごい高いのでしょうけれど...それでもね....彼らに新しい機体を!って思わずにはいられません。

I understand that it's your job to clean up the sky

for the follow-up, am I right ?

Actually, there was the Blue Impulse's aerobatic demonstration

after this flight.

It will be shown in the next section.

The Self-Defense Forces may not be able to use the latest aircraft very much, and may only be able to use the American downgraded models.

Even so, I've heard that the pilot's skill is excellent, they won't lose in the joint practice with the United States, and because the aircraft is old, it proves the pilot's excellence.

Well, I think, if the pilot's life is important, shouldn't they be put in a new type of aircraft?

The aircraft is really expensive, but ... still ... I can't help but think of new aircraft for pilots!

百里基地は関東で唯一、戦闘航空団が所在する航空基地で、
首都圏防空の任務にあたっています。

Hyakuri Base is the only air base in the Kanto region where a combat wing is located,
and is responsible for air defence in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

上記のようにリストアップされていても、私にはなかなか見分けが難しいです。

無知である上に、航空ショー、その雰囲気に舞い上がっていて、現地では見分けが殆どつきませんでした。

全ての機体の撮影はできませんでした。

滞在時間中に、この周辺が殆ど撮影できませんでしたし、
見ることもできませんでした。

F- 4ファントムII ・315号機
日頃の勇姿を見ているわけではないので、
最後だからペイントしてもらったのか、
航空祭だからしてもらったのかわかりません。
'F-4記念塗装機'と名づけられていたので、
この日のためのペイントなのでしょう。

I don't see such a cool countenance on a daily basis,
so I don't know if it was painted like this for the last shows
or because it was an air festival.
This was called 'F-4 Commemorative Painting' there,
so it's probably painted for this day.

キャノピー
操縦席の窓？を'キャノピー' と呼ぶと知りました。
操縦席にカエルの人形があります。
第301飛行隊部隊マークのカエルだとのちになって知りました。

Canopy

I found out that cockpit's window is called 'aircraft canopy'.

There is a toad doll in the cockpit.

Later I knew that the Toad is the Mark of

the 301st Tactical Fighter Squadron

カエル

百里基地付近にある筑波山名物のガマの油売りに由来するガマガエルがモチーフです。

"無事に帰る" との意味もあります。

これは私も推測していました。

そうです、死んではいけない、生きて帰ってくるのです！

10月にガマの油売りに由来するガマガエルと関連する "天竺徳兵衛" (テンジクトクベイ)の歌舞伎を見たのでリンクを感じて嬉しくなります。

また徳兵衛が、'蝦蟇 (ガマ) の妖術' を操り日本転覆(江戸幕府転覆)を目論みますが、

自衛隊はそれを阻止する側なのに、同じ由来のガマガエルをマーク使用することが面白く感じます。

Toad Tail Mark
I can also see the Toad on the fuselage (left photo)

Toad : Kaeru (means toad or frog in Japanese)

The motif is a Japanese toad derived from the oil seller of Gama : Toad in Mt. Tsukuba near Hyakuri Base.

Toad oil was an ointment that was used as a wound medicine during the Edo period (1603 - 1868) and the Toad was considered psychic and various mysterious tales were created, because of its body fluid.

In addition, with the help of Chinese Shenxian thought, the so-called ''Magic of the Toad'' was formed.

Kaeru also means "to return safely" because Kaeru sounds almost the same as "Return" or "Come Back" in Japanese.

I was guessing this too.

Yes, don't die, come back alive!

In October, we saw the Kabuki of "Tenjiku Tokubei" related to the toad derived from the oil seller of the toad, so I am happy to feel the link.

In addition, Tokubei aims to overthrow Japan (overthrow the Edo Shogunate) by manipulating the 'Magic of the Toad', but the Self-Defense Forces are the ones who would prevent it, but I find it interesting that they use the same origin of the toad as a mark.

第501飛行隊には、この機体とRF-4Eがあります。
第501飛行隊は2020年3月に解散しました。

第501飛行隊のマークは、アメリカのアニメキャラクターである
ウッディー・ウッドペッカーです。カナダ・アメリカのキツツキ (ズアカキツツキ) は
本当に頭の部分が赤いのです。
何故アメリカのキャラクターにしたのでしょうか？
ちょっと残念ですが、まあ、アメリカへの友好の気持ちを表現したのでしょう。
味方の印？
キツツキは、川中島の戦い (1553 - 1564) の啄木鳥戦法
[突き出して敵を(虫を)待ち伏せする方法] に由来しているそうです。

RF- 4E Phantom II・905

The mark of The 501st Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron is Woody Woodpecker,

an American anime character.

The Canadian and American woodpeckers (Red-headed Woodpeckers)

really have a red head.

Why did they make it an American character?

It's a little disappointing, but it probably expressed a feeling of friendship

with the United States. A sign of an ally?

It is said that Woodpecker derived from 'Woodpecker Tactics' in

the Battles of Kawanakajima (1553 - 1564)

905号機は航空祭前の11月5日に退役していたので
この日は飛んでいないと思います。

905 was retired on November 5th,
before the Air Festival, so I don't think it was flying that day.

描かれているように思います。

これがよく言う、'チヌーク'ですね。
初飛行は1961年、様々な改良などが行われていますが
いまだに後続機はありません。

何かのプロモーションでしょうか？
それとも彼女は自衛官？

F-4 (1) 機動飛行、F-4 (2) 緊急発進、模擬空対地射撃、RF-4 (2) 偵察飛行(戦術偵察)あどがあったのですが、全部の撮影はできませんでした。

There were F-4 (1) Maneuvering flight, F-4 (2) scramble, simulated air-to-ground shooting, RF-4 (2) reconnaissance flight (tactical reconnaissance), but I could not photograph all of them.
