DNA彫刻 / DNA Sculpture
チャールズ・ジェンクス (1939 -) によるこの彫刻は、
1953年に提唱されたDNA二重らせん、60周年を記念した作品です。

This sculpture, design by Charles Jencks (1939 -), 

celebrates the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the DNA double helix in 1953.

アート作品というよりは記念碑に私には感じられます。
'植物園の記念碑' としては良いと思います。

I feel it is like a monument rather than an art work.
I think that it is good as a 'Monument to Botanical Gardens'.

動く彫刻のよう.../ It looks like a Moving Sculpture....

悲しみの聖母教会 

植物園の向かいにあります。

1881年に創設され、この建物は1971年に建てられました。

ローズ・ガーデンで見かけて、おもしろい建築だな〜と思い、近くまで来ました。

おそらくカトリック教会です。

撮影しながら、"ヒュヴィンガー教会 / Hyvinkää Church, 1961"[フィンランド / 設計: アールノ・ルースヴオリ / Aaro Runnsuvuori (1925 -1992)  ]を思い出しました。

私はヒュヴィンガー教会には行ったことがなく、ヘルシンキの建築博物館で模型を見たのみです。

I saw the church, Our Lady of Dolours, from the Rose Garden and thought that it was interesting architecture, so I came near.

Probably this is a Catholic church.

While I photographed, it reminded me of Hyvinkää Church, 1961"[Finland / Design by Aaro Runnsuvuori (1925 -1992) ]

I haven't visited Hyvinkää Church, I just looked at the model in the Museum of Finnish Architecture, Helsinki.

アイルランドは教会とは切っても切れない関係に感じます。

I feel Ireland is in an inseparable relationship with the churches.

英国でも、アイルランドでも他のヨーロッパでも、公共物の絵がべべちゃんぽくならない、媚びないところが羨ましいと思いました。

最近、日本はかわいいものばかり....'ばかり'というのが気持ち悪い気がします。

In the UK, Ireland and other European coutries, the paintings of public things do not look sugary, so I envy them.

Nowadays Japan has many almost cute things .... I feel almost with bad feeling.
