ウェールズ
この旅行では回りませんでしたがウェールズもケルト文化が残っています。
Wales
Holyhead, Snowdonia National Park and Betws-y-Coed in Wales.
We did not look for Celtic culture on this trip in Wales,
thought Celtic culture still remains in Wales, too |
ホーリーヘッド港からこの日の宿泊地、ベッツィコエッド
/ Betws-y-coedへ向かいます。
ベッツィコエッドは、日本ではまだあまり知られていないかもしれませんが、とても素敵な観光地です。
スノードニア国立公園 / Snowdonia National Park の中にあり、緑と水が豊富です。
2006年に私達はベッツィコエッドに滞在し、スノードン山 (1085m) にも登りましたが、スノードン登山鉄道 / Snowdon Mountain Railway を使用しました。
それでも、最寄駅から山頂まで、きつかった！それにすぐ脇が絶壁だった！(山頂駅は工事中で閉鎖されていました）
今はもう登れません！
ああ、でも2009年に山頂駅が開通したので私にも可能かもしれませんが....う〜ん、あのときの大変さが思い出され、私の意気地をくじきます(苦笑)。

Holyhead
is on Holy
Island, Wales.
We were going to Betws-y-Coed where we would stay that day after landing in the Port of Holyhead'.
Although Betws-y-Coed may
not be well-known yet in Japan, it is a very nice tourist spot.
It
is in Snowdonia
National Park and
is rich in green and water.
In
2006 we stayed at Betsy Coed and climbed Snowdon (1085
m), but we used the Snowdon
Mountain Railway (★).
Still,
it was hard from the nearest station to the summit! And one side was a cliff!
(The
mountain top station was closed during construction.)
I
can not climb it now!
Oh,
but since Summit Station was opened in 2009, it might be possible for
me, but .... Well, I remember the hard work at that time and the
memory dampens my guts (Wry Smile).

スキナー記念碑
日本ではオベリスクを見たことがありませんが、
へ向けられています。
Skinner's Monument : ★
I have never seen an Obelisk in Japan,
though I heard there are two.
This obelisk is for Captain Sinnker (1761 - 1832) who
is still loved and respected by local people.

メナイ吊橋
メナイ吊橋 は、アングルシー島とウェールズ本土に架けられています。
竣工 :
1826年 / 設計: トーマス・テルフォード (1757
-1834)
テルフォードは道路や橋を数多く設計したので"道路の巨人"とも呼ばれます。

-1834)
He
designed many roads and bridges, so he is called 'the Colossus of
Roads'.

採石場
現在も使用されているのかはわかりません。
おそらく閉鎖されていると思います。

I
do not know whether it is still being used.
I think that it is probably closed. 
Penrhyn
Slate Quarry, 1852
北ウェールズのスレート採石場、上の写真の場所とは違います。
The
slate quarry was in North Wales, but this is not the same place,
above.

スノードニア国立公園 の中へ入って行くのを感じます。
I feel we are entering into the Snowdonia National Park.

U字谷
山の中に飲みこまれていくような感じがします。
U-shaped Valley U-shaped valley is formed by the process of glaciation (★). I felt we were going to be swallowed by the mountains. |
オグエン湖 / Llyn Ogwen
氷河によって形成された湖で、リボン湖と呼ばれます。
リボン湖は、細長い指の形で、通常は、U字谷の中にあります。
レイクディストリクトのウィンダミア湖もリボン湖の一つであると知りました。
Llyn Ogwen This is a ribbon lake formed by glaciers, long and narrow,
and is in usually found in a U-shaped Valley.
Now I found out that Windermere in Lake District is another ribbon lake.

スワロー滝
/ Swallow
Fallsの風景？
壁紙に驚きましたが、この地なら良いのでしょう。
このB&Bから車で3分くらいです。
2006年に私達は行きました。今回はパスです。
Is
this a view of Swallow Falls?
I
was surprised by the wallpaper, but I wonder if this style is good in this area.
Swallow Falls is the main tourist point of Betws-y-Coed,
It
is about 3 minutes by car from this B & B.
We
went there in 2006. This time we passed.

('Great Orme Brewery', Wales)
ウェールズの旗はレッドドラゴン。
なので、ビールのマークはドラゴンを使用しています。
R bought a
local beer.
('Great
Orme Brewery', Wales)
The
flag of Wales icludes a Red Dragon.
So beer levels are using the dragon.

B&Bで音楽が流れているのは珍しい...このアルバム曲がかかっていました。 私は曲もCDジャケットも好きでした。
アンドレス・セゴビア/Andrés
Segovia (1893 – 1987) は、スペインのギターリスト。
私はここで初めて彼を知りましたがギター界では超有名人なのでした。
Morning Music
It
is unusual that a B&B gives us music at breakfast time.
This
album was playing. I liked both the music and CD cover.
Andrés
Segovia (1893 – 1987) was a Spanish guitarist.
I
knew of him for the first time here, but he was a super star in the
guitar world.

夕食 は私達のB&Bから10分ほど歩いてロイヤル・オーク・ホテル の
カジュアルなレストラン : 'Grill Room'でとりました。
We walked for 10 minutes from our B & B and had our dinner
at a casual restaurant : 'Grill Room', Royal Oak Hotel.

ホテルのレストランでこのディスプレイをするのだな〜と
文化の違いを感じました。 けれど、'Grill Room'というレストランの名前を思うと納得もします。 I felt the cultural differences from this display as a hotel restaurant.
However, if I think of the restaurant 'Grill Room', I could understand.

I wanted to drink red wine, but I considered that
I must walk to our B&B on night street, so I decided to refrain. Good Girl! (Laugh) |

Rはいつものように、彼の食の問題をウエイターとシェフと相談、
そして、この魚料理を出してもらいました。
満足しているようでした。良かった！
As
usual, R consulted with the waiter and the chef about his food
problems,
and
the fish dish was served.
He
seemed to be satisfied. It was good.
