Apple Books

I made Apple Books about Coonie's Work and the Exhibition.

Before my exhibition, I had never thought about making these books.

The reasons I could make these books are sunlight and the garden.

Friend's Comment

My close friend, from Kansai K San had visited my first seven exhibitions.

Although she had planned to visit this exhibition she could not come, because of her private reasons, even though she had already booked a hotel in Yokohama.

So I sent her the "Apple Books" .

Though she is busy, she still sent her e-mail to me.

I have permission from her, so I put her comments below, although I do not translate, sorry.

The Last

A. 自分の世界 /  My Own World

My Own World

I San heard a painter in describing my exhibition say
"There are five people's personalites".

Then  I San told me about that.

Another painter (or artist?) said to me
"You have to chose only one. This is worldwide wisdom."
and he listed foreign artist's names and asked me
"Do you know?"
"Sorry I do knot know them for certain."
He seemed to look down on me.

U-mm, harsh to me!

Maybe my explanation about my exhibition was not enough for him , however, both seemed to have thought
'No explanation is needed. We only need to look',
so I think even if my words were better, still their opinions would not change.

I think when these painters make their paintings they undergo great hardships.

I really do not know many things or famous artists.

If I was tested about this subject, my result would be miserable.

However, I do not think I introspect about lack of knowledge, I do not think that I start studying many things and other knowledge.

I realized a part of me is stubborn, although I had thought I was quite flexible.

If I feel the necessity, I could remember, I still encounter new things or people and if I am interested in something, I research it....I will stay with my approach which might be a little haughty.

I guess they approach creative activity very differently from my ways in which I depend on people, techniques of lithograph printing, firing and something.

When people want to achieve perfection, perhaps they should select one, and this might be mainstream thought as well as this might be 'worldwide wisdom'.

I would not contradict the thought or people doing creative activity who follow this thought.

I think the thought might be right.

For me, I think that I always do want to do one thing, and I feel that I have already followed the same thing.

B. 空間と作品 / Space and Work

Space and Work

My photograph books are my sketchbooks, my drawing includes photographs and prints which become the sources of my porcelain works.

For me, even this blog is one of my sketchbooks or drawings.

My final goal, it is my porcelain work.

However, recently the purpose of my exhibitions has been making "Coonie's World" ;  my theme is "Space Quest", I call  this "Coonie's Space Quest",  that is quite different from only showing porcelain works.

The previously described painters might think that I should only show porcelain works, it is their correct view about exhibitions, I suppose.

I think that my exhibition is different from their method and the results are different.

A contemporary artist who uses techniques of ceramics came to one of my earlier exhibitions and said
"You do many things which are all the same."
I said
"Oh! Yes! I always do things which go in the same way!"

At that time some people misunderstood that my exhibition was a group one, so I was pleased by the contemporary artist's understanding about my works.

This artists' words sounded a little like criticism, although I think the artist's understanding about my works was more than the painters.

I put F San's comments here about understanding of my work, below.

According to his blog, only in Japanese :
http://blog.livedoor.jp/tetsuofukutome/archives/2015-04-18.html
I try to translate below.

"Personally I thought porcelain works would be the main display in the exhibition.

But it was
'The work exists in the Space', and when I display my work, I also aim to do this, so I experienced pleasure that the other artist practiced.

When I looked at the work hung on the tree or a plant in the garden, I felt the work spread further and it was fun.

One might say simply 'the direction of the display space' that sounds easy, however, it is far from easy, because it is very few galleries in which that could happen, and also very few artists achieving this, this is reality.

Certainly I would see the next exhibition."

F San Thank you very much!

I am at work, step by step in a corner of the world, and sometimes I have my exhibitions, showing people my works.

I think this is my own steady way and I have kept my approach.

"Have it your way!"

"I do!"

I tidied up my thoughts and my attitudes in my own way as stated above.

Having stopped, I had an opportunity for thinking time about my works, because I was able to talk with people whose standpoints are different from myself ; thank you for the exhibition held at the same time.

Sometimes a new encounter is good.

If it is too often I would be tired....

Gratitude

I thank you, my family (including R and older sister Y) for supporting self-centered creative activity, a friend, Rie San doing a beautiful design in my Hp and DM, and my friends cheering me up.

The gallery owner, W San and the lithograph teacher, Y Sensei helped me very much.

My visitors are an essential part of "Coonie's Space".

Some people wrote their apologies saying they could not visit, all using beautiful post-cards.

Some people sent telegrams or e-mails.

Some people gave me flowers.

I cannot describe other people kindness by my poor writing....

Thank you to all visitors and other people.
