英国の夏は、午後９時頃まで明るいのです。

なので、サウスダウンズウエイ国立公園の中を散策後も、まだ下の写真のように明るい.....

英国遺産のペンベンシー城 / Penvensey Castle に行ってみることにしました。

突然行く先を決めたので、リサーチを殆どしていませんでした。

通常、ロードマップには英国遺産の印が載っているので、それを頼りに車を走らせました。

British summer is bright until about 9 o'clock.

So it was bright  like below photographs after walking in South Downs Way National Park.

We tried to visit Penvensey Castle which English Heritage looks after. 

We decided to visit there suddenly, so I had not researched enough about it. 

Normally road maps show us the mark of English Heritage, we depended on the map for our drive to the Castle. 

主要道路上にこの看板を見つけ、
車を道路脇に止めて歩くことにしました。

We found this sign on a main road,
we decided to walk from here and left our car at the roadside.

わ〜、お城まで遠そう.....
それらしいものがまったく見えません。(不安！）

Wow! It looks a long way to the castle...
I could not see anything which looked like a castle. (Uneasiness!) 

野原にころがっているのは、干し草を丸めてあるベイル/Baleです。
黒いビニールがかかっている場合もあります。
私は 'ベイル' にあたる日本語を知りませんでした。
梱 (こり）というのですね。

The bales are in the field.
Sometimes they are covered with black plastic sheets.
I did not know the word for Bale in Japanese.
Now I know it : Kori :  梱. 

橋にゲートがあるのは、きっと羊が出ないように...
The bridge has a gate probably sheep could not go out.

緑に囲まれた小さな木の橋
素敵！と感じるのは私だけ？

It is lovely, only I feel it, don't I? 

広がる野原...のんびり...でもやはりお城が見えない...
Wide Field...Peaceful.....but I cannot see the castle...

Somehow it looks easy going...?

白い花...朝顔？昼顔？
White Flower...Morning Glory? Convolvulaceae/ Convolunlus?

不機嫌そうな羊たち......私達のせい？
He looks uncomfortable...It might be because we are there? 

不機嫌でも食べる！
Even uncomfortable, Eat!

英国は護岸されていない川や小川が日本より多くあるように思います。

野原に小川があるだけでトキメキます。

この川(小川)はもしかしたら用水路なのかもしれませんが、小川の雰囲気が私にはします。

そう感じるのは、"水の国"である日本で生まれ育ったせいでしょうか?

I think Britain has many more streams and rivers without protected banks than Japan.

Just a field with a natural stream is wonderful .

This river (stream) might be an irrigation channel, although I feel its atmosphere is a stream.  

Why do I feel like this, because I was born and grew up in a 'Country of Water' : Japan?
(Japan has been rich in fresh water.)

Even though the castle is there.....I took this with maximum telephoto.

気分転換に振り向くと.....

ナポレオン戦争 (1803 - 1815) 時の要塞がいくつか見えました。

I paused and looked back.... 

there are some fortresses from the Napoleonic Wars (1803 - 1815) .

戻ります！
お城へ行くには、あの牛達の脇を歩かなければならないと認識しました。
雄牛には角！
ここでお城へここから行くことをギヴアップしたへなちょこな私です。

Let's Go Back!
I understood if we go to the castle, we must walk through the cows.
There is a bull with his horns.
Here, I gave up to getting the castle by this way, I am weak.
