❷ - 3) サセックスの旅 / The Trip in Sussex - B&B: Riverdale House in Alfriston, 27th ~ 29th of August in 2013

1) リバーデイル ハウス / Riverdale House

B&B : Riverdale Houseに３泊しました。素敵なB&Bでした。

 Riverdale House

We stayed 3 nights in Riverdale House. The B&B was lovely.

メイン道路にある看板
アリフリストン村から徒歩10~15分
夜は道路脇の真っ暗な小道を通りました。
そんな経験はあまりないので、
どきどきしながらも結構楽しかった夜道でした。

The Sign on the Main Road.
It takes 10 ~ 15minutes from Alfriston on foot.
At night, we walked on the path beside the road in pitch-dark.
I had not had any experience like that,
so my heart fluttered, however,
I quite enjoyed this journey in the dark.
B&B : Riverdale House は丘の上にある
この丘下にカックミア川/ Cuckmere Riverが流れ、向こう岸沿いに
サウス ダウンズウエイ/ South Downs Way があります。
地形を理解すると、B&Bの名前の理由(川谷の家)がわかります。

このあたりのサウス ダウンズウエイは二手に分かれていて、
もう一つは向こう岸の丘に沿ってあります。

 The B&B:Riverdale House stands on a hill.
The Cuckmere River runs at the bottom of the hill and 
The South Downs Way goes along the opposite bank. 
If I understand the landscape, I could find the reason for B&B name.

South Downs Way has two routes around here,
the other one goes along the opposite hill.

到着〜〜！/ Arriving!

この建物の半分がB&Bで、もう半分は他の方が住んでいます。

Half of the building is B&B, people live in the other half.

2) 部屋 / Room 

予約が遅かったので、B&B の裏に面した部屋でした。
部屋の居心地はそこそこ。
景色が良い場所なので、正面側の部屋が良かったと
私にしてはネガティヴな感情を引きずってしまいました。
まあ、1泊でなく、3泊したので、そう思ってしまったのかもしれません。
人気があるB&Bなので、早めに予約すべきでした。

部屋に常備してある手作りのビスケットが美味しかった！
オーナー(男性)自ら作るのだそうです。

トータルとしては、とても良いB&Bだと思います。

Our room was at the back,because we booked quite late.
I was not very comfortable in this room.
From the front the B&B's views are beautiful,
so I wanted to stay in a front room.
 It was unusual my feeling stayed negative.
Well, it was not one night, it was three nights, so I had the feeling.
The B&B was popular, so we should have booked earlier.

The biscuits in the room are always home made and were lovely!
The owner makes them himself.  

 I think in total the B&B is very good.

2)　景色 / Views from B&B

裏手には馬がいました。B&Bの馬かどうかはわかりません。

The horse is behind the B&B. I do not know if the horse is theirs.

3)朝食 / Breakfast

窓側は朝食の席になります。私達は、ここで2度食べました。

The table beside the window is used for breakfast.
We ate here twice.

多くのB&Bと同様、ガイドブックや地図が用意されています。

They have guidebooks and maps like many B&Bs.

新鮮なフルーツがあるのが嬉しい！

I was pleased there were fresh fruits!

買ってきた夕飯をここで食べられます。
多くのB&Bは、部屋で食事をするのをいやがり、
ここのように、ダイニング使用を促します。

私達は、オーナーに薦めていただいたお店の
フィッシュ&チップスをここで食べました。(28日)
美味しかった！

We could have dinner here which we might buy outside.
Many B&Bs do not like us having meals in our room,
instead, they suggest we use the dining room, like here.

We had 'Fish and Chips'.
 We bought them in a shop,
the owner recommended the shop.(28th)
It was good!

Rが大好きなポテトいっぱいの朝食
R's breakfast has a lot of potatoes which are his favourite. 

私の朝食には、Rは嫌いで私の好きなマッシュルームがある。
卵はポーチドエッグ。

My breakfast has my favourite mushrooms which R hates.
Egg is poached egg.

私のオートミール
英国ではオートミールと呼ばずにポリッジ(porridge)と呼びます。
私はシリアルは殆ど食べないので、その代わりに、
時々これをいただきます。

My Porridge
I do not have usually cereal, instead of it sometimes I have porridge.  

今日の私の朝食はスモークサーモンとマフィンです。
Today, my breakfast has smoked salmon and muffin. 

Rはベーコンとポーチドエッグ
R's breakfast has bacon and poached egg.

バターがこのように出されることはあまりありません。
通常は個別パッケージです。

It is unusual that butter is served like this.
Often it is individual packages.
