❹ - 1) サセックスの旅 - カックミア川 河口 / The Trip in Sussex - River Cuckmere Estuary , 28th of August in 2013

1)ビジターセンターの駐車場から出発
     From Visitor Centre Car park 

B&B: Riverdale House からビジターセンターの駐車場までは、車で移動し、
そこからは徒歩です。

We moved to the visitor centre from our B&B: Riverdale House by the car, after then we started walking.

'Path to Seaford Head view point'を選択しました。
'カックミア川 / River Cuckmere' 河口は、
サセックスで唯一、人の手が入っていないのです。
ナショナル•トラストを含む複数の団体が、協力して保護しています。

Selecting Our Course 
We selected a pink dotted line:
'Path to Seaford Head view point'.
'River Cuckmere' estuary is the only undeveloped area in Sussex.
A few groups including National Trust cooperate in preservation.

A. 橋から / From the Bridge

橋からカックミア川 / River Cuckmereを見る
See River Cuckmere.  from the bridge.


白鳥がいます！
Swans are there!

橋を渡っているときに、ラズベリーだと思って撮影しましたが、
ミズキなのかな.....？
でも花はラズベリーですよね？

While I walked across the bridge, I took photos : above and below, 
because I thought they were raspberry,
although they might be cornus.....?
However, the flower is  raspberry, isn't it?

B. 川沿い / Along the River

川辺を歩いて、海(英国海峡)に向かいます。
We were walking along the river and
reached the sea (English Channel). 

湿地帯のよう.....
It looks like a marshy area.....

Rは英国海峡に向かって歩いています。私も！
He is walking to the English Chanel. Me too!

鵜 (ウミウ/ 海鵜)?
 Cormorant  / Shag?

２つの家族が海岸にピクニックをしに行くようです。
They are two families and they look as though the will have picnics on the beach.

あれは何？何？
What are they? What?

わ〜、カモメです〜！
Wow! They are seagulls!

植物 / Plants
(セリ科の仲間だと思います)
I think below flowers are a group of the water dropwort.

この状態(過程)を初めて見ます。
This is the first time I see their progression.

再び鳥/ Again Birds

これは白鷺 (シラサギ)？
Is this an Egret / Heron ?

鳥が見えますか？ヒバリだと思います....
Can you see a bird? I think a Lark....

ヒバリの隣にカラフルな鳥がいます。
名前がわかりません....ゴシキヒワかも？

There is a colourful bird next to the Lark.
I do know the name. It might be European Goldfinch?

Duck Corps and One Egret

羊〜! / Sheep~!

どこにでもいる羊
Sheep are everywhere.

またカモメ！/ Again seagulls!

う〜〜ン、この情景はヒッチコック(1899 - 1980)の
映画『鳥』(1963) を思い出します。
この映画をTVで幼い頃に見て、鳥が苦手になりました。
英国に住んでいる間に小さな鳥には愛情を感じるようになりましたが、
鳩より大きい鳥はいまだに苦手です。

We~ll, this view reminds me of a film "The Birds"(1963)
by Alfred Hitchchock (1899 - 1980).
When I was a child and watched this film, I learnt to hate birds.
After I had lived in Britain, I came to love small birds,
however, I am still weak about birds which are bigger than pigeons. 

海近し！/ Close to Sea!

今は引き潮時でしょうか？
Is this time an ebb tide?

人の手が入っていないはずだけれど、
これは用水路に見えますよね〜？

There should not be manmade things here,
although these look like irrigation channels, don't they?

白亜の崖が見えてきました！
"セブンシスターズ / Seven Sisters" の端っこです。

The view is coming, white cliffs!
That is one end of the "Seven Sisters". 

オ〜！海だ〜！
海が見えてくると、到達すると、人はなぜ興奮するのでしょう？

 Wow! Sea~!
Why do people became excited when we find sea or reach sea?
