この旅行前に、霧島市のサイトに、'霧島七不思議伝説'があるのを知りました。
ファンタジー好きな私は、興味津々。
その七不思議は、'文字岩' 以外は、霧島神宮の敷地内にあったり、
おこったりするものです。
霧島七不思議

4) 風穴 (カザアナ)

'Legend of the Seven Wonders of
Kirishima'
Before this trip, I found out that there is 'Kirishima Seven Wonders Legend' on the Kirishima City website.
I like fantasy, so I'm curious.
The Seven Wonders, with the exception of 'Moji-iwa', are located within the premises of Kirishima-Jingū Shrine.
Kirishima Seven Wonders
1) Makazu-no-Tane (Unsown Seeds)
2) Moji-iwa (Character Rock)
3) Kamei-shi (Turtle Stone)
4) Kaza-ana (Wind Hole : Wind Tunnel)
5) Mitarashi River (Holy Washing Trough River)
6) Ryodo River (Twice a Year River)
7) Yonaka no Kagura (Midnight Kagura)

Of the above seven, we were able to see 3) Kameishi, 4) Wind Hole , 5) Mitarashi River, and 6) Ryodo River.
2) 旧参道 / Old Approach
A. 亀石 / Turtle Stone
私達は、旧参道に来る前に、霧島神宮や山神社への参拝はすませていました。
山神社参拝後、旧参道を用いて、亀石まで来ることは可能でしたが、霧島神宮の三の鳥居でSさんと待ち合わせていましたので、駐車場へ戻り、タクシーで旧参道下まできました。

Turtle Stone
We had already visited Kirishima-jingu Shrine and Mountain Shrine before coming here.
After visiting the Mountain Shrine, it was possible to come to 'Turtle Stone' using the old approach, but since we were meeting S San at the third torii gate of Kirishima-jingu Shrine, we returned to the car park and took the taxi to the bottom of the old approach.

| 仙巌園の亀石 昨日、行った"仙巌園 (センガンエン)" にも 亀石がありました。 仙巌園は、薩摩藩主島津氏の別邸・大名庭園でした。 別名、磯庭園。 現在は、一般公開されています。 亀に似ているのは、旧参道の亀石の方が仙巌園のものより 亀らしく感じます。 亀はめでたいモチーフなので、人は例えたがるのでしょう。 Turtle Stone which we visited yesterday. Sengan-en was the second residence and daimyo garden of the Shimazu Clan, the lord of the Satsuma Domain. Also known as 'Iso Garden': 'Iso Tei-en'. It is now open to the public. I feel that the Turtle Stone on the old approach looks more like a turtle than the one in Sengan-en. Turtles are auspicious motifs, so people like to compare them. |

B. 風穴 / Wind Hole
弥勒 (ミロク) の武器を思うのは、私だけでしょうか? (笑)
アニメの'犬夜叉' を見ました。]
"犬夜叉"の物語には、風穴だけでなく、神社や、御神木、巫女、過去と通じる不思議な井戸などが用いられます。
"犬夜叉"の世界と霧島神社や霧島七不思議の世界とは、あながち違う世界ではないと私には感じられます。
自分の発想の狭さを笑います。

Wind Hole
When I hear 'Kazaana': 'Wind Hole', am I the only one who thinks of Miroku's weapon from "Inuyasha"? ha,ha.
[I have not read the original manga: Inuyasha (by Rumiko Takahashi (1957 ~), but I have seen the anime 'Inuyasha'.]
In the story of "Inuyasha", not only 'Wind Hole' but also a shrine,
a sacred tree, shrine maidens, and a mysterious well that lead to the past are used.
I feel that the world of "Inuyasha" and the world of Kirishima Shrine and the Seven Wonders of Kirishima are not very different worlds.
When I read the previously uploaded "Komakado Kazaana Cave" section, above for the first time in a long time, there I had also written about the 'Wind Hole' in "Inuyasha".
I laugh at the narrowness of my ideas.

| 風穴 旧参道を亀石から少し登った左手に風穴はあります。 "以前、岩穴からいつも風が吹きでているのが 不思議がられていました。 極微弱な気流です。 岩の上に石造の観音が安置されていたといわれています。 現在は風は出ていませんが、霧島山中では これに似た現象はあちこちにみられます。" Wind Hole Climb the old approach a little from Turtle Stone, and there is the Wind Hole on the left. 御手洗川 "霧島神宮の西方250メートルほどの下の岩穴から 湧き出る小川です。 11月から4月ごろまでは、ほとんどかれていますが、 5月ごろから非常な勢いで大量の水が湧き出ます。 この時は魚もいっしょにわいてくるといわれます。 水の質は清明で、天孫降臨の際、高天原 (タカハマガワラ) から 持ってきた真名井 (マナイ) の水が混じっていると 伝えられています。" (霧島町郷土誌より 霧島市教育委員会 : ★） Mitaraishi River "It is a stream that springs out of a rocky hole about 250 metres west of Kirishima-jingu Shrine. From November to April, it is almost dry, but from around May, a large amount of water springs up with great force. At this time, it is said that the fish will come together. ＜神話の真名井の水＞
地上には、純粋な水がなかったので、天児屋命は、息子の
天押雲命 (アメノオシクモノミコト) :
天牟羅雲命 (アメノムラクモノミコト) を高天原へ遣わせ、報告させました。
(真名井の水の伝承のなかでは、天牟羅雲命の名が用いられています)
天照大御神は、天忍石長井之水 (アメノオシハガノイノミズ)を八杯、玉鋺 (タママリ) に入れ、天牟羅雲命に地上へ運ばせ、神々の食用と飲み水にさせ、残りを地の水に注がせました。
その水が、'真名井の水'と呼ばれ、天牟羅雲命は日本の井戸の神様になりました。"
現在では、その神話をもとに、'真名井の水'とは、最も清浄な湧き水を讃える最上級の敬称になっています。
<Mythical 'Water of Manai' >
"At the time of Tenson-kōrin, one of the five Gods who followed Ninigi no Mikoto was Ame-no-Koyane-no-mikoto.
Since there was no pure water on earth, Ame-no-Koyane-no-mikoto sent his son Ame-no-mura-kumo-no-mikoto to report to Takamagahara.
(Ame-no-mura-kumo-no-mikoto : Ame-no-mura)
Amaterasu put eight cups of Takamagahara pure water, and had Ame-no-mura carry it to the ground to be eaten and drunk by the Gods, and pour the rest into the water of the earth.
The water was called 'Water of Manai', and Ame-no-mura became the God of Wells in Japan. "
Today, based on that myth, 'Water of Manai' has become the highest honorific title for the purest spring water.
B. 若宮神社 / Wakamiya Shrine

| 御手洗川と若宮神社 鎮守神社や性空上人の墓が近くにあります。 それらについては、つぎのセクションに載せます。 Mitarashi River and Wakamiya Shrine A local shrine and the tomb of Shoku Shonin are nearby. They will be in the next section. |
若宮神社は、次の4柱を祀っています。
1) 水波能売神 (ミズハノメ: 弥都波能売神 / ミツハノメノカミ;
女神)、日本では代表的な水神です。
2) 市寸島比売命 (イチキシマヒメ: 市杵嶋姫命)、
宗像三女神 (ムナカタサンジョシン) の一柱で、水神です。
3 ) 天忍雲根命 (天押雲命 : 天牟羅雲命)、前述した'神話・真名井の水' に登場する神様です。
4) 大名牟遅神 (オオナムチノカミ) は、大国主神 (オオクニヌシ) の別名です。
水神の女神と、真名井の水の神と、黄泉の国へ行った神 (オオクニヌシ) : 根の国訪問 (水が岩穴から出てくるから) を選んで祀っているのが、理にかなった選択だな〜と感心しました。
余談ですが、同じ神様でも違う漢字、違う呼び名があり、複雑です。
(理解するのに時間がかかります...)

| 御手洗川と若宮神社 Mitarashi River and Wakamiya Shrine |
Wakamiya Shrine enshrines 2 Goddesses and 2 Gods, below.
1) Mizuhanome (Mitsuhanome-no-kami), the Goddess is a representative Water God in Japan.
2) Ichikihima-hime, the Goddess is one of the three Goddesses of Munakata, and is a Water God.
The three Goddesses of Munakata are said to be the supreme deities of all roads (ways), and are said to pray for safe voyages and traffic safety.
3) Ame-no-mura-kumo-no-mikoto, the God that appears in the aforementioned 'Mythology : Manai no Mizu'.
4) Ōnamuji-no-Kami, the God is another name for Ōkuninushi.
I was impressed by the logical choice of selecting and enshrining the Goddesses of Water, the God in Myth : 'Water of Manai', and the God who went to the underground : Ne-no-kuni : Myth of 'Ōnamuji and Suseribime' (because the Mitarashi River water comes out of a rocky hole).
As an aside, some Gods have different kanji and different names, so it's complicated.
(It takes me a while to understand...)

水や川が好きなので、ここに来て幸せな気持ちになり、心がぴょん
ぴょん跳ねていました。
I like water and rivers, so I felt happy when I came here, and my heart was jumping.

| 木々の間から / Through the Trees |
4) 両度川 / Ryodo River
下記、霧島市サイト：霧島七不思議 : ★より引用。
霧島神宮の西方300メートルの所にあります。
両度川は、毎年6月ごろから水が流れ出して8・9月ごろにはかれてしまいます。
この間、はじめ10日も水が流れたかと思うと全く乾いてしまうのです。
そして、数日たつとまた流れ出すというのです。
川は短くて小さいものですが、水は極めて清く量も多いです。
下流は滝になって霧島川に落ち込みます。
両度川は、毎年同じ時期に決まって二度流れるというので、両度川という名がつけられたということです。
According to 'Kirishima Seven Wonders' in Kirishima City website: ★ ,

"The Ryodo River is located 300 metres west of Kirishima-jingu Shrine.
The Ryodo River begins to flow from around June every year, and it dries up around August and September.
During this period, the water flows for the first 10 days, and then it completely dries up.
Then, after a few days, it will flow again.
The river is short and small, but the water is extremely clean and abundant.
The downstream becomes a waterfall and falls into the Kirishima River.
The Ryodo River is said to flow twice at the same time each year, hence the name Ryodo River ; Twice a Year River."
御手洗川は、たおやかに流れていましたが、両度川は雪解けの水が山を下るが如く、勢いよく流れていました。
御手洗川も枯れる時期があるとは思えない川でしたが、両度川もまた、枯れることがあるとは信じられない川でした。
The Mitarashi River was flowing gracefully, but the Ryodo River was flowing like water from melting snow running down a mountain.
I couldn't believe the Mitarashi River would dry up, and I couldn't believe that the Ryodo River would dry up as well.
