A. 初めて / This was the First Time
私の定期検診 (血液検査) をする日でした。
雨降りの月曜日、人出もあまりないでしょうと推測し、夫 Rも一緒に外出しました。
通常よりは、観光客はいませんが、それでも、驚くほどに、小町通りには、観光客がたくさんいました。
お目当てのカフェが休みで、次の候補、'納言志るこ' (ナゴンシルコ) へ行きました。
'納言志るこ' は、小町通りと若宮大路をつなぐ路地にあります。
この路地は数えきれないくらい通っていましたし、このお店がここに存在していることは知っていました。
私は甘党でないし、店の構えは、私にはガサツな印象があり、甘味処の 'はんなりさ' が感じられず、ここに入ってみようと思わせる雰囲気がありません(失礼)。
この日が、初めての訪問でした。

| 暖簾 暖簾は季節によって変えるようです。 丈が短い暖簾は珍しいと感じます。 Noren Noren seems to change depending on the season. I feel that short Noren are rare. According to Wiki about Noren, "Noren (暖簾) are traditional Japanese fabric dividers hung between rooms, on walls, in doorways, or in windows." |
It was the day of my regular checkup (blood test).
On a rainy Monday, we guessed there wouldn't be many people around, so my husband R came out with me.
There are fewer tourists than usual, but surprisingly, there were many tourists on Komachi Street.
The cafe we were looking for was closed, so I went to the next candidate,'Nagon Shiruko'.
"Nagon Shiruko" is located in an alley connecting Komachi Street and Wakamiya Oji.
We went through the alley countless times and I had noticed this shop.
I'm not a sweet tooth, and the appearance of the shop gives me a casual impression, I couldn't feel the shop has a soft atmosphere as other Japanese style sweet restaurants, and the shop doesn't make me want to go in here (sorry).
This day was our first visit.
According to Wiki about Shiruko,
"Shiruko (汁粉), or oshiruko (お汁粉) with the honorific "o" (お),
is a traditional Japanese dessert. It is a sweet porridge of azuki beans boiled and crushed, served in a bowl with mochi.
There are different styles of shiruko, such as shiruko with chestnuts, or with glutinous rice flour dumplings instead of mochi.
There are two types of shiruko based on different methods of cooking azuki beans.
Azuki beans may be turned into paste, crushed without keeping their original shape, or a mix of paste and roughly crushed beans."
B. 店内 / Inside
ランチ時間だからなのか、雨だからなのか、コロナの影響なのか、
わかりませんが、私達だけでした。
しばらくして、中年男性が一人でいらっしゃっていました。
私達が出る時にも、お客は彼一人でした。
後になって、行列ができる店として評判である、コロナ禍でさえも、混んでいるという情報を知りました。
私達はとてもラッキーだったのです。

素朴かつ清潔 入るなり、感動！ 当時のまま！という印象です。 (当時を知りませんが) 座ってお店を見渡すと、隅から隅まで清潔感があります。 古くても掃除は行き届いている！ この時点で私はかなり好感度が上昇しました。 きっと律儀に作り続けている、 誠実さを持って...と想像してゆきました。 Simple and Clean I was impressed as soon as I entered! I felt 'Just as it was'. (I don't know at that time) When I sat down and looked around the shop, I felt clean from corner to corner. Even if it is old, it is well cleaned! At this point my positive feeling increased. I imagined that they would be conscientious, making with sincerity.... |
Inside
I don't know if it's lunch time, rain, or the influence of corona, but we were the only customers.
After a while, a middle-aged man entered.
He was still the only customer when we left.
We were very lucky, I found out later that even during the coronavirus crisis they are usually crowded.

| 中庭があります。 中庭の良さをいかせているのか疑問ですが.... そのまま放置状態にしているところさえも 好感を持ってしまいます(笑)。 There is an 'indoor garden'. I'm wondering if they make the most of the garden... Even if they leave it as it is, I would have a good impression (Laugh).  無造作に色々なテーストが混じっていますが 不思議なことに統一感があります。 厨房で使用されている食器棚が好きです。 Various tastes are randomly mixed, though strangely there is a sense of unity. I like the cupboards used in the kitchen. |
 商売繁盛のお守り? |
| 鎌倉の神社の商売繁盛の熊手でしょうか？ 1953年創業の老舗ですから大きな熊手かと思いきや小さなサイズ、 ここに'身の程を知る'と言う、 謙虚な気持ちがあるように感じます。 Amulet for Prosperous Business? Is it a rake for a prosperous business from a shrine in Kamakura? Since it is a long-established shop, founded in 1953, so I guessed their rake would be big, although this is small, and from this point I feel they are humble, 'They know their limits'. In Japan, there is a tradition of a rake being a lucky charm for business prosperity with the meaning of "collecting" good luck and economic fortune. It is said that purchasing a larger rake than last year's one every year will lead to prosperous business. |
C. 絵画 / Pictures
海と戦艦らしい船の絵画がいくつか飾ってありました。
甘味処に飾る絵としては、不似合いな印象を持ちました。
お店のセンスが硬く感じられました。
オーナーさんのご趣味なのか、ご家族に海軍出身者か、海自 (カイジ) の方がいらっしゃった (いらっしゃる) のかなと推測しました。
甘味処にある控えめな華やかさ (例えば、テーブルに小さな花が飾ってある) が見られないことと、戦艦の絵には、共通する何かがあるように感じます。
それは店構えにも出ているのかも知れません。

| 玄関脇の絵と花 花はここだけ飾ってあります。 絵は素人さんによるものに感じます。 Picture and Flowers beside Entrance The flowers are displayed only here. I feel that the painting is by an amateur.  祭壇のように感じてしまうのは私だけでしょうか？ 木彫像は大黒様でしょうけれど...。 Am I the only one who feels like an altar? The wooden statue is probably Daikokuten, but ... According to Wiki about Daikokuten, "In Japan, Daikokuten, the god of great darkness or blackness, or the god of five cereals, is one of the Seven Lucky Gods." |
Pictures
There were some paintings of ships at sea, that seem to be warships.
As pictures to decorate a sweets shop, I had the impression that they are unsuitable.
I feel the shop has a hard taste
I guess they are the owner's taste, the family member (s) was (were) from the Navy, or was (is) in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force
In my view, there is something in common with the understated glitz of the sweets (for example, the small flowers on the table) and the battleship paintings.
I feel that there is something in common between the lack of even modest decoration in a sweet restaurant (for example, small flowers on the table) and with the warship paintings.
The outside has a similarly hard atmosphere.
D. メニューもシンプル / Menu is also Simple

| 田舎しるこ 初めてなのですから、店の名前にもあるしるこは頼まなくては... という思いはあったのですが、私は最初から 'クリームみつまめ'に決めていました。 Rには 「暖かい甘いのと、冷たい甘いのとどっちがいい？」 と誘導尋問のような質問をし彼から 「あったかい方」 と想像通りの答えを得て満足しました。 「スムーズなのと、粒々なのとどっちがいい？」 と聞くと、 「つぶつぶ」 ということで、彼には田舎しるこ (つぶ餡) を注文しました。  'Inaka Shiriko' ; Countryside Shiruko I had my idea that it's our first time, so I have to ask for the Shiruko that is also in the name of the shop ...however, from the beginning I had decided on 'Cream Mitsumame'. I asked R, "Which is better, warm sweet or cold sweet?" This was like a leading question for him. He answered "Warm one!" I was satisfied with the answer I had imagined. I asked him, "Which do you like, smooth or chunky?" "Chunky" So, I ordered the 'Inaka Shiruko' for him. |
According to Wiki about Mitsumame,
"Mitsumame (みつまめ) is a Japanese dessert.
It is made of small cubes of agar jelly, a white translucent jelly made from red algae or seaweed.
The agar is dissolved with water (or fruit juice such as apple juice) to make the jelly.
It is served in a bowl with boiled red field peas (or sometimes azuki beans), often gyūhi, Shiratama dango and a variety of fruits such as peach slices, mikan, pieces of pineapples, and cherries. "
E. みつまめ、2つ！ / Mitsumame, Two!

| 私の 'クリームみつまめ' / My 'Cream Mitsumame' 果物はバナナと缶づめものです。 寒天は不揃いに切ってあります。 何か、すごく特別というわけでもありませんが、 自分でもびっくりするくらい美味しく感じました。 久しぶりにこの手の甘いものを食べたせいか、 このお店の味が自分にあっていたせいか、 わかりません。 幼い頃、祖母に作ってもらった味と 酷似していたせいかもしれません。 黒糖の香りがするシロップも、えんどう豆も、 アイスもそれぞれに、 または全てが一緒になって美味しかったです。 お茶も美味しい！ 底に残ったシロップもスプーンですくって食べてしまいました。 |
「美味しい！美味しい！」
と言いつつ、スプーンを口に運ぶ私と、カラフルな 'みつまめ' に
Rは刺激されたようでした。
「これ、食べたい？」
と聞くと (味見もさせてあげました）
「イエ〜ス！」
というので、彼に追加でクリームみつまめを注文しました。

私の 'クリームみつまめ' / My 'Cream Mitsumame' The fruits are bananas and canned foods. The agar is cut unevenly. It's not something very special, though I was surprised at how delicious it was. I don't know if it's because I ate this kind of sweet food for the first time in a long time, or because the taste of this shop suits me. It may be because it was very similar to the taste that my grandmother made when I was a child. The syrup with the aroma of brown sugar, and the peas, and ice cream were delicious individually or all together. The tea was lovely! I also scooped up the syrup left at the bottom with a spoon and ate it. |
R seemed to be stimulated by me who said
"Delicious! Delicious!"
while I was carrying a spoon in my mouth, and my colourful 'Mitsumame'
When I asked "Do you want to eat this?" (I also let him taste it)
"Ye~s!"
he said, so I ordered an additional Cream Mitsumame for him.

| Rの甘味 Rは、'田舎しるこ' をとても気に入っていました。 通常、嫌いなフキの佃煮も、 「美味しい」 と言って食べていました。 「もしかしたらコンビネーションが良いのかもしれない」 と自分で分析？していました。 彼はクリームみつまめも美味しく食べ、 以前食べて好きだった '豆かん'を思い出しました。 R's Sweets R liked 'Inaka Shiuiko' very much. though he said "Delicious" and was eating. "Maybe the combination is good." And he analyzed by himself. He also ate his Cream Mitsumame deliciously, he remembered the 'Mamekan' that he liked to eat before. |

| 二重高台 みつまめの器が二重高台になっていたので 感動しました。 Double Foots I was impressed because the Mitsumame bowl has a double foot. |
一度味を知ってしまえば、殆どの方がリピーターになってしまうように思います。
私達もリピーターになりそうです。
I think most people will become regulars once they know the taste.
We are likely to be regulars too.

A. 母へのプレゼント / Presents for Mother

母の誕生日のプレゼント 母の誕生日は鎌倉へ招待していましたが 昨年も今年もコロナのために招待できませんでした。 姉と私達からのプレゼントとして花 (別便)とお菓子を贈りました。 お菓子は吉兆庵で買いました。 今回のプレゼントのテーマは桜です。 Mother's Birthday Presents We have invited our mother to Kamakura for her birthday, however, we couldn't because of Corona last year and this year. We and my sister gave flowers and sweets as gifts (separate deliveries). I bought sweets at Kitcho-an. | 桜餅 夜遅くなって、Rは桜餅を食べました。 これは日持ちが最もしないのです。 なので、母のプレゼントに入れることができませんでした。 それにしても、今日、彼は甘いものをたくさん食べましたね〜。 Sakura-mochi Late at night, R ate Sakura-mochi. This is the least long-lasting. So I couldn't put it in our mother's gift Anyway, he ate a lot of sweets today. |
