1) 山頂付近から / From Near Mountaintop

| 山道 鎌倉山付近から極楽寺方面へおりてゆきます。 住所はすでに極楽寺。 夫Rの後を追います。 Mountain Path From the vicinity of Kamakurayama, go down toward Gokurakuji. The address is already Gokurakuji. I will follow my husband R. |
鎌倉山は鎌倉山神社付近の高い山頂と娯楽寺の住所表記になる低い
山頂があるように私は理解しています。
低い方の山頂は、個人の所有地らしく、入ることができません。
所有地の境界を示す赤い紐が山道に沿って張られています。
将来、この山頂に個人の大邸宅か、マンションが建てられるのかもしれません。
また木々が失われてゆくのかと思うと暗い気持ちになりました。
山にしても谷にしても、すでに開発され、私達を含め、多くの人々はその恩恵に授かり、住んでいるので、私が開発に反対し、新しい恩恵を得ようとする人々の邪魔をすることは矛盾していると思います。
このジレンマは鎌倉山に住んでから抱えたのではなく、ずいぶん若い時からのものです。
今、私にできることは、山頂の持ち主がこのまま木々を保持してくれるように願うことだけです。
From Near Mountaintop
I understand that Kamakurayama has a high summit near Kamakurayama Shrine and a low mountain peak with the address of the Gokurakuji.
The lower mountain peak seems to be privately owned and we cannot enter.
A red string indicating the property boundary is stretched alongside the mountain path.
In the future, a private mansion or flats may be built on this mountaintop.
I felt dark when I thought that the trees would be lost.
Whether there are mountains or valleys, many places have already been developed, and many people, including us, benefit from them and live there, so I think it's contradictory I have opposition to development and would restrict people who are trying to gain new benefits.
I didn't just have this dilemma since I lived in Kamakurayama, but since I was young.
All I can do now is hope that the owner of the mountaintop will keep the trees as they are.

| 山側 木々の造形美を楽しみます。 地面の中の根も見ることができます。 みんな面白い形をしています。 Mountainside Enjoy the beauty of the trees. I can also see the roots in the ground. Every one has an interesting shape. |

| 立ちはだかるドラゴンのようです。 It's like a dragon standing in front of me. |
3) 小さな冒険 / Small Adventure

| 軋む音 木々が倒れている場所も複数あり、 風で木(竹)の軋む音が聞こえます。 周囲のきが倒れてくるのではないかと思い、 怖さも何度か感じました。 Creaking Sound There are several places where the trees have fallen, and I can hear the creaking sound of the trees (bamboos) in the wind. I thought that the surroundings would fall down, and I felt scared several times. |

| 年配のご夫婦、中年の女性の二人組にこの山道で会いました。 ご存知の方が結構いるのね〜と思いました。 Even Such a Mountain Path... We met an elderly couple and a middle-aged women duo on this mountain path. I thought that there are quite a few people who know it. |

| 私は雪道でも歩ける長靴を履いていますが彼は普通の革靴です。 彼にとっては革靴が最も吐き心地が良いようです。 I wear boots that can walk on snowy roads, but he wears a pair of a normal leather shoe. Leather shoes seem to be the most comfortable for him. |

| 突然岩肌が見えました。 文字が彫られてあるのですが、読めません。 それとも落書きなのでしょうか？ Suddenly I saw a rock surface. Letters are engraved, but I can't read them. Or is it graffiti?  文字、または落書きがわかりますか？ Do you see letters or graffiti?  大きさがわかるようにRが協力してくれました。 R helped a photograph to show the size. |

| 草木で下が見えないおかげで歩くことができます。 I can walk because I can't see the bottom because of the vegetation.  |

| 夏はもっと草木で覆われるのでしょうか？ 蛇も出そう...歩くなら今ですね？ Will it be covered with more vegetation in summer? A snake will come out ... If we walk, right now? |

| 'INAMORI' 'INAMORI' の表示があります。 この時はこの下に個人の家があるのかしら？ こんなところに？？？と訝しく (イブカシク) 思いました。 後になって、稲村ヶ崎の 'INAMORI Cafe' の敷地で あることに気がつきました。  'INAMORI' There is a sign, 'INAMORI'. At this time I wondered if there is a private house below? In such a place??? I was sceptical. Later, I realized that it was the site of 'INAMORI Cafe' in Inamuragasaki, below. The cafe seems to be open irregularly. It was closed when we passed by. |

| 左が極楽寺側、右が稲村ヶ崎、七里ヶ浜側 尾根を歩いている自覚が明確にありました。 The left side is the Gokurakuji side, the right side is Inamuragasaki, Shichirigahama side. There was my clear awareness of walking along the ridge.  |

| 二股に別れています。 右は脇道ですが、Rはそちらへ入って行きました。 It is bifurcated. The right is a side path, but R went in there. |

| 右を見ると行き止まりで、彼は端に立っていました。 竹がたくさん生えているので、 一気に落ちないと信じて端に向かいます。 when I looked to the right, he stood on the edge, with a dead end. With a lot of bamboo growing, I believed I won't fall at once and headed to the edge. |

| 聖福寺谷 稲村ヶ崎住宅街は、聖福寺谷 (ショウフクジガヤツ) にあります。 山道から海が見えるといつもよりも感動します。 聖福寺谷は、かつて七里ヶ浜住宅街にあった聖福寺に由来します。 Shofukujigayatsu Valley The Inamuragasaki residential area is located in Shofukujigayatsu Valley. When I can see the sea from the mountain path, I could be more impressed than usual. Seifukujidani Valley is derived from Seifukuji Temple, which was once located in the Shichirigahama residential area. |

| 熊野権現社 神奈川県鎌倉市稲村ガ崎5丁目38 熊野権現社が見えます。 今日は上から神社を見ただけですが、 今年の1月20日に私達は熊野権現社を訪ねています。 その時は七里ヶ浜住宅街から登ってきました。 Kumano Gongen Shrine 5-38 Inamuragasaki, Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture I can see the Kumano Gongen Shrine. Today we just looked at the shrine from above, but on 20th of January this year we visited the Shrine. 4) 四つ辻 / Four-way Junction

| 四つ辻 正面は土砂崩れのため行き止まりです。 右は、熊野権現社、七里ヶ浜、稲村ヶ崎方面、 左は極楽寺方面です。 後ろは鎌倉山方面、私達が歩いてきた道です。 この四つ辻が今日の大きな目標でした。 Four-way Junction The front is a dead end due to a landslide. The right is Kumano Gongen Shrine, Shichirigahama, Inamuragasaki area, and the left is Gokurakuji area. Behind is Kamakurayama area which we had come from having walked down the path. This Four-way Junction was our big aim today. |
1月に、私達はここで、鎌倉山方面から一人で歩いてきた若い女性に会いました。
彼女は、街中を歩くような服装で歩いてきたのです。
この山道が鎌倉山神社から続いていることを彼女から教わりました。
歩いてきてみて、改めて、彼女の気丈夫さに感心しました。

Four-way Junction
In January, here we met a young woman walking alone from the direction of Kamakurayama.
She walked in clothes that suited walking around the city.
We found out from her that this mountain path continues from Kamakurayama Shrine.
As we walked, and particularly here, I was once again impressed with her toughness.
