先日、私は『白銀の墟 玄の月』を読みました。
『白銀の墟 玄の月』については前回のセクションです (下記)。
読後に、私は、『黄昏の岸 暁の天』を読んでいなかったことに気がつき、すぐ購入し、読みました。
楽しい読書でした。

"The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak",
so I bought it immediately and read it.

"The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak"
『黄昏の岸 暁の天』の物語は、『白銀の墟 玄の月』よりも前の時期になります。
懐かしい登場人物の面々に再び会えて、感動!
『白銀の墟 玄の月』は、18年ぶりに出版されたということは、
雁州国の麒麟 : 延麒...
その他の登場人物達に、18年久しぶりに、いえ、18年以上ぶりに....再会したのです....涙....。
読書でこんな思いをしたことは初めてでした。
(持っていた本を手放してしまったというのもその1つの原因かもしれません。）
李斎 (リサイ) をはじめ、幼い泰麒を知る者は、その成長を喜ぶと同時に、あどけなかった彼を懐かしむ気持ちを消し去ることはできません。
それは、私を含めた読者も同じ、そして、作者も？
『白銀の墟 玄の月』の中で、『黄昏の岸 暁の天』の物語の大筋は
語られていたので、物語そのものの展開に興奮することはありませんでした。
結末を知って読んだので、落ち着いて読め、詳細部分をよりよくは味わえたように思います。
『白銀の墟 玄の月』を読んでいる時に、
泰麒の女怪、白汕子 (ハクサンシ) と
の行方を疑問に思っていました。
その行方がわかり、すっきりしました。
泰麒の蓬莱 (日本) での泰麒の目線での日々はここには詳しくは書かれていず、それは、シリーズ最初の『魔性の子』(1991) に書かれています。
『黄昏の岸 暁の天』では、白汕子と傲濫側の目線で書かれているところは、『魔性の子』で見えなかった部分が明かされています。
『魔性の子』は、今ではシリーズ 'ゼロ' として扱われていますが、出版当時は、独立したホラー小説でした。
私が『魔性の子』を読んだのは20年ほど前です。
また読みたくなってしまいました...。
作家が『魔性の子』を書いた時には、このシリーズの小説は考えられていず、『魔性の子』の裏で存在する世界として、十二国の世界がありました。
十二国の世界を知った編集者が、作家にその世界を小説にするように進め、『十二国記』シリーズができたと聞きました。
私にとって『十二国記』の始まりは、中島陽子の物語でしたが、作者にとって、または、『十二国記』の物語にとって、もしかしたら、
泰麒の物語が最も大切な、芯になる部分なのかもしれないと
『白銀の墟 玄の月』と『黄昏の岸 暁の天』を読んで思いました。
『十二国記』でのこの作家の文章は、漢文のリズム感を持つ、やや硬い印象でした。
『白銀の墟 玄の月』では、その印象以上に硬く、剣の鋭さを感じる文章に慄き (オノノキ) を感じるほどでした。
作家の最終巻への意気込みも感じられました。
『黄昏の岸 暁の天』を読み始めた時に、柔らかな印象を受けたので、2つの作品の文章の違いを確信しました。
その違いには、登場人物と作品に対する作家の思いの違いがあるように思います。
『黄昏の岸 暁の天』のあと、続きを18年待つ...うわ〜っ！....生殺しのような状態....。
この本を今まで読んでいず、私は幸せだったかもしれません。
『十二国記』シリーズを読むきっかけの本を送ってくれた、友人Kに感謝したいです。
Kからはこのシリーズだけでなく、多くの本を教えてもらいました。

2020年刊行予定だった、オリジナル短編集がまだ発売されていません。

"The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak"
The story of "The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak" comes before "Silver Ruins, Black Moon".
I could see dear characters again and I was impressed!
The fact that "Silver Ruins, Black Moon" was published after 18 years means that I met
and other characters.... for the first time in 18 years, no, for the first time in more than 18 years.... tears ....
It was the first time I had such a feeling in reading.
(One of the reasons may be that I had parted from reading books.)
The main point of "The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak" is the return of Taiki, the Kirin of Tai country, who had gone to Horai (Japan) .
Those who had known the child Taiki, such as Risai, are pleased with his growth and at the same time cannot eliminate their feelings of nostalgia for his innocence.
It's the same for readers, including me, and for the author as well?
I wasn't excited about the development of the story itself, because the outline of the story of "The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak" was shown in "Silver Ruins, Black Moon".
I knew the ending and read it, so I think I could read it calmly and enjoy the details better.
When I was reading "Silver Ruins, Black Moon", I was wondering about the whereabouts of Taiki's Nyokai, female Youma like his nanny, Hakusanshi : Sanshi and Taiki's Shirei : Gouran of Toutestu : ★. (Shirei are a type of Youma that are bound into service by a Kirin.)
I found out where they were and I felt refreshed.
The days from Taiki's point of view in Horai (Japan) are not described in detail here, which is described in the first book, "The Demonic Child" (1991).
In "The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak", the part written from the perspective of Sanshi and Gouran side is revealed in the part that could not be seen in "The Demonic Child".
"The Demonic Child" is now treated as a series "Zero", but at the time of first publication it was an independent horror novel.
I read "The Demonic Child" about 20 years ago.
I want to read it again ...
When this author wrote "The Demonic Child" , the novels in this series were not considered, and the world behind "The Demonic Child" was the world of the Twelve Kingdoms.
I heard that an editor who knew the world of the Twelve Kingdoms encouraged the author to make the world a novel, and "The Twelve Kingdoms" series was completed.
For me, the beginning of "The Twelve Kingdoms" was the story of Yoko Nakajima,
however, after reading "Silver Ruins, Black Moon" and
"The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak", I thought that for the author or for the story of "The Twelve Kingdoms", the story of Taiki is probably the most important and the core.
My impression about the author's writing in "The Twelve Kingdoms" is that there is a little hardness, with a rhythm like Classical Chinese poetry.
The writings in "Silver Ruins, Black Moon" are harder than that impression, and I felt a terrifying feeling in the sentences that felt like the sharpness of a sword.
I also felt the author's enthusiasm for the final volumes.
When I started reading "The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak", I got a soft impression, so I was convinced of the difference between the sentences of the two works.
I think the difference is the difference between the characters and the author's feelings about the works.
After "The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak", readers waited 18 years for the continuation ... Wow! .... it is as though readers were kept in anguish, in limbo.
I may not have been unhappy because I hadn't read this book before.
I would like to thank my friend K for sending me some books that inspired me to read all "The Twelve Kingdoms" series.

I have my "Mountain of Unread Books", but I'm still looking forward to the publication of the collection.
