ホルバーン美術館
コッツウォルズ旅行の最終日、私(達)はホルバーン美術館 / Holburne Museumへ行きました。

Holburne Museum
On the last day of our Cotswolds trip, we went to the Holburne Museum.

Continuing from previous section, this is about the Holburne Art Museum.

This section is mainly my record of finding 'Doppelganger's of her work, which were scattered throughout the museum.

入館前にすでに '分身'は、私達を迎えてくれていました。

| 子供達の作品 子供達がローレン・チャイルドの世界で遊んだ証がたくさんあります。 Works by Children There is plenty of evidence that children have played in the Lauren Child world.   
制作場所は建物を増設した部分にあるようでした。
バース・ストーン/ Bath Stone (石灰岩の1つ) の壁ですね。 美術館の建物は、英国指定建造物、1級に指定されています。 The activity room seemed to be in the extension of the building. The wall is Bath Stone. The building is designated as a Grade I listed. |

子供達の制作場所とローレン・チャイルドの部屋の間に
細長いショー・ケースがありました。
ローレン・チャイルドの"分身"の他に
美術館のコレクション関係の品物も展示されていました。
Showcase
There was an elongated showcase
between the children's activity room and the Lauren Child's room.
'Doppelganger's of Lauren Child and
the items related to the museum collection were displayed.

グレート・パルトニー通り
グレート・プルトニー通りがまっすぐであり、 道沿いの建物が立派であることを感じます。
道沿いの建物は、英国指定建造物、1級に指定されています。
Great Pulteney Street : ★ I feel that the Great Pulteney Street is straight and the buildings along the road are magnificent.
The roadside buildings are designated as Grade I listed.
この通りについては下記。/ About the Street, below.

| 中世のスプーンとともに With Medieval Spoons 
スプーン
カトラリーの始まりはスプーンでした。
フォークはスプーンの後のカトラリーです。
英国では、洗礼式にスプーンを贈られる習慣があり、
観光地でもスプーンは売られ、幾人かの人のコレクションになっています。
実は、私も英国留学初期には集めていました。
いつの間にかやめました...(笑)。
Spoon The beginning of cutlery was a spoon. Forks came after the spoon.
In Britain, it is customary to give spoons to the baptismal ceremony,
and spoons are sold in tourist areas and are collected by some people.
Actually I was collecting them in the early days of studying in Britain.
Before I knew it, I had quit ... (Laugh).

一番下の棚の中心です。
ウィロー・パターン (柳柄) を模しているようです。
Willow Pattern
They are in the centre of the bottom shelf. They seem to mimic the Willow pattern. |
4) Garden Cafe
ほとんどの美術館や博物館で、私達はそこのカフェを利用します。
ホルバーン美術館のカフェ : ★ は、全面ガラス張りで自然光が溢れ、ガーデンの緑が綺麗です。
残念ながら、今回は、カフェの時間が作れずに、利用できませんでした。
カフェの中も、ガーデンも人々で賑わっていました。
ガーデンは、シドニー・ガーデン / Sydney Gardensと呼ばれているようです。
美術館になる前、建物はシドニーホテルであったので、ガーデンは、シドニー・ガーデン / Sydney Gardensと呼ばれています。

ガラスの顔
正面の建物の顔とは全く違って驚きます。 実は私達は、こちら側がこんな近代的な顔を持っていることに気がつきませんでした。 屋内からカフェの中を通り過ぎて建物の外周を半周して
正面玄関へ向かってしまったからです。

Glass Face
I am surprised that it is completely different
from the face of the building in front : facade.
In fact, we didn't realize that this side had such a modern look.
This is because we passed through the cafe from inside and
went halfway around the outside of the building toward the front door.

Garden Cafe
At most museums and galleries, we use the cafes there.
The cafe : ★ in the Holburne Museum is fully glazed, flooded with natural light, and has a beautiful green garden.
Unfortunately, this time, we couldn't use it because we couldn't make time for the cafe.
The cafe and garden were crowded with people.
The garden is called Sydney Gardens, as it was a Sydney Hotel before it became the Museum.

4) ショップ / Shop

ショーケース
美術館入り口横にショップはあります。
入ってきた時からショップのショー・ケースや棚にあるポスト・カードに惹かれました。
帰り際に、バースの街が描かれているマグカップや、
複数のラッピング・ペーパー、ポスト・カードを購入しました。
Showcase
There is a shop next to the Museum entrance.
From the time I entered, I was attracted to the shop's showcase
and the post cards on the shelves.
On our return way, we bought mugs with the city of Bath,
several wrapping papers, and postcards.

"メアリー・ポピンズ"
の本は、迷った末に、購入は控えました。
買えばよかったな〜と、後悔しています。
"Mary Poppins"
Lauren Child's books were on sale.
I didn't buy her picture book of 'Mary Poppins'
[by Pamela Lyndon Travers (1899 - 1996) / First Edition 1934]
after hesitation.
I regret that I did not buy it.
チャイルドのピッピは、おしゃれなピッピです。
"Pippi Longstocking"
I think "Pippi Longstocking" [by Astrid Lindgren (1907 – 2002) / First Edtion 1945]
is also suitable for Child's pictures.
Child's Pippi is a fashionable Pippi.

The next section is about a painter, Édouard Vuillard (1868 -1940), who it is said Child was influenced by.
