Continuing from previous section, this is about the Holburne Museum.
 バース中心地からパットニー橋を渡り、
グレート・パルトニー通りの突き当たりにホルバーン美術館 ❻はあります。
From the centre of Bath, cross the Pulteney Bridge and
at the end of Great Pulteney Street you will find the Holburne Museum ❻.

エドゥアール・ヴュイヤール / Édouard Vuillard (1868 -1940)は、
使用されている絵は"燭台 (ショクダイ)" (1900年頃 : ★)です。
Édouard Vuillard Exhibition : ★
Édouard Vuillard (1868 -1940) was a French painter, decorative artist and
printmaker of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The picture used is "The Candlestick"(c 1900 : ★).
美術館前の告知
ホルバーン美術館 は、ローレン・チャイルド展も開催しており、
私はそちらが目当てでした。
私は、エドゥアール・ヴュイヤールという画家を知りませんでした。
ローレン・チャイルドが影響を受けた画家の一人に
エドゥアール・ヴュイヤールがいました。
両方の展覧会の告知は美術館前でされ、会場も隣の部屋で行われていました。
双方とも、会場の規模は予想外に小さく、拍子抜けでしたが、
私には訪れた甲斐があったものでした。
Notice in Front of the Museum
The Holburne Museum also held Lauren Child Exhibition, which I was looking for.
I didn't know of the painter, Édouard Vuillard.
Édouard Vuillard was one of the painters whose work influenced Lauren Child.
The announcement of both exhibitions was made in front of the museum,
and the Exhibition was in the next room.
The size of the venue was unexpectedly small for both parties,
however it was worth my visit.

展覧会では、彼の1890年代からの彼の初期の作品のユニークな資質に
目を向けています。
彼は模様入りの生地と壁紙への執着と微妙な家庭心理ドラマとの調和によって
際立った感情の強さを持つ絵画を作成しました。

According to Museum's Website, about Édouard Vuillard,
"Famed for his small, subtle studies mostly of figures in interiors, his art is renowned for its modest scale, intimate subject matter and intense colouring.
We celebrate the unique qualities of his early work, from the 1890s, in which he balanced an obsession with patterned fabrics and wallpaper with subtle, domestic psycho-dramas to create paintings with striking emotional intensity."

ナビ派の1人に数えられる。
ヴュイヤールの画面は、他のナビ派の画家よりもさらに平面的、
装飾的傾向が顕著である。
室内情景など、身近な題材を好んで描き、
自ら「アンティミスト」(「親密派」という程度の意味) と称した。

晩年の1937年にはパリのシャイヨー宮の室内装飾を担当している。
日本美術に影響を受け、日本風と西洋絵画を融合した屏風絵なども多く描いた。"
下記、ナビ派について、Wikiより
グループの中でも理論家として知られるモーリス・ドニは、次のように述べている。
「絵画作品とは、裸婦とか、戦場の馬とか、その他何らかの逸話的なものである前に、本質的に、ある一定の秩序のもとに集められた色彩によって覆われた平坦な表面である。」
また、ナビ派を代表する画家ボナールは、次のように述べている。
「絵画とは小さな嘘をいくつも重ねて大きな真実を作ることである。」
このように、ナビ派は19世紀を支配していた写実主義(レアリスム) を否定し、芸術の装飾性を主張するものであった。"

う〜ん、絵画が写真と大きく違うのは、そういうことだと思います。
私がイラストレーターであった時、似たようなことを感じました。
それは心象と実際のスケールは違うということです。
私の写真は実際のスケールを的確に写しとるけれど、自分の印象とは色もスケールも違います。
それを絵に表すと、自分の感じた印象 : 真実 に近いものができ、なるほど、絵の良さは、ここにあると思ったのです。
「絵画とは小さな嘘をいくつも重ねて大きな真実を作ることである。」
う〜ん、絵画が写真と大きく違うのは、そういうことだと思います。
私がイラストレーターであった時、似たようなことを感じました。
それは心象と実際のスケールは違うということです。
私の写真は実際のスケールを的確に写しとるけれど、自分の印象とは色もスケールも違います。

| 貼り絵 (ちぎり絵) のような印象です。 チャイルドのコラージュのテイストに繋がるのかもしれません。 It looks like Chigiri-e.According to Wiki about Chgiri-e, "Chigiri-e is a Japanese art form in which the primary technique uses coloured paper that is torn to create images, and may resemble a water colour painting. " It might be connected to Child's collage taste. |

ホルバーン美術館が装飾アートを収集しているので、エドゥアール・ヴュイヤールもローレン・チャイルドもこの美術館には適したアーティストです。
二人の展覧会を同時に、しかも隣の部屋で開催された理由がわかるように思いました。
Both Édouard Vuillard and Lauren Child are suitable artists for the museum, as the Holburne Museum collects decorative art.
I thought that I could understand the reason why the two people's exhibitions were held, at the same time, in adjacent rooms.
