❷バスツアー：白川郷 - 5月18日 / Coach Trip : Shirakawago - 18th of May

この橋を渡って白川郷に入ります。

川は庄川、上流にはダム(御母衣ダム)があります。

We cross this bridge and walk into Shirakawago.
The River is Shou River, higher up is a Dam (Miboro Dam).

1) Rの長年の願い / R's Hope For a Long Time

Rは2004年に初めて日本を訪れた時から白川郷に来たかったのです。

何度か日本に訪れる機会はありましたが、なかなかその思いを実現することができませんでした。

今回、ようやく、この地を訪れることができました。
(雪の白川郷が最も彼の見たかったものですが....)

R's Hope For a Long Time

R had wanted to visit Shirakawago since he first visited Japan in 2004.

He visited Japan a few times, although it was very difficult. 

Finally we came here. 
(However, he most wanted to visit Shirakawago when snowy.)


2) 城山展望台 / Shiroyama Observation Platform

城山展望台からの眺め
この日は、国内、国外からの観光客で、白川郷は、
とても混んでいました。
散策時間はたったの２時間。
展望台へのバスがなかなか来ず、
時間が非常に惜しく思えましたが、
歩いて登る自信は私達にはありません。
帰路は歩きましたよ。

Today, Shirakawago was packed with tourists
from Japan and abroad.
We only had two hours walking time.
The local mini-bus did not come for a long time
at the bus station, I felt the waiting time was a pity,
though we were not confident of walking up the hill.
We did walk down.

when they introduce Shirakawago.
It has the atmosphere of a 'Japanese Folk Story', doesn't it?
We can see many Gassho-Zukuri.

これを維持するのも大変手間がかかるのでは

と心配してしまうのは、余計なお世話ですね。

I worried about the maintenance of this building, 
which is quite hard work.
Why do I worry?

飛騨地方はこの花がとても多く咲いていました。

そういえば、宿泊したホテルの入り口にも

広範囲に咲いていました。

The Hida area has many of these flowers.
Oh, Yes! there was a huge display near the hotel's entrance. 

たくさんの見所はあるものの、時間制限のために、
私達は城山展望台と'和田家'だけの見学でした。
和田家'は国の重要文化財指定を受けています。

There are many highlights,
although we only had time for the Shiroyama Observation Platform,
and the 'Wada House',  which is one of 
the Important Cultural Properties of Japan.

3) 和田家 / Wada House

和田家に向かいます。
この景色は平和です。

和田家

入館料は300円
下記はウィキペディアより

和田家は1573年（天正元年）よりつづく家柄で、
当主は代々「弥右衛門」を名乗った。
江戸時代には牛首口留番所役人や庄屋を務め、
苗字帯刀を許された。

また火薬の原料である塩硝（焔硝）の取引で繁栄した。
和田家住宅の建築時代は諸説あるが、
文化庁によると江戸時代末期であるという。
 往時には20人以上の人が住んでいたという。
それは山がちで土地が狭かったこの地では、
次男三男が分家することが難しく、
結果的に長男一家を中心とした大家族となったのである。
またこのような理由から、家屋の規模も大型となった。

和田家住宅は1995年（平成7年）12月26日に主屋、土蔵、便所ならびに土地が国の重要文化財に指定された。
現在も住居として使われているが、内部の見学が可能である。

Wada House

Admission fee adult ￥300

The family was established in 1573 and

 the head's name has been 'Yaemon' since then.

In the Edo period(1603-1868), they worked as the village headman, 
a public servant and

 they were allowed their own surname and Katana (Sword) which 

usually only Samurai were allowed at that time.

And also they flourished by making Niter ; Gunpowder. 

Officially they say it was built at the end of the Edo period. 

At one time 20 people lived in this house.

 Only first sons could marry, 
because land is scarce in the mountains.

So normally a family became big and the houses too.

The house, store, toilet and land were designated

 Important Cultural Properties of Japan in 1995.

 This well-preserved house is the largest remaining Gassho Zukuri in Shirakawa-go.

4) 村 / Village

消火栓
この村では屋外屋内問わず、禁煙です。

Fire Hydrant
No Smoking in the village, inside and outside.

同じ橋を渡って白川郷を出ます。
We left the village by the same bridge.

5) 合掌造り民家園 / 
    Open Air Museum of Gassho-Zukuri

合掌造り民家園

世界遺産の指定前に、人々が合掌造りを守ろうとしてできた

野外博物館です。

Before World Heritage Status, people had kept the houses,

then they made the museum.

ここに来た時には、残り時間が15分ほどでした。

家々を見学することはできず、ただ最短のコースを歩いただけという、慌ただしさでした。

もっとゆっくり見たかった〜〜！

When we got here, we had only 15 minutes.

We could not look at inside of the houses, just walked the shortest course.

I wish I could have looked slowly and enough! 

入場券はアイスクリーム付き
バス会社から買った入場券にはアイスクリーム付きでした。
私達は'どぶろくアイスクリーム'を選び、
それを片手にバスにむかいました。

We bought the ticket from our bus company.
We selected Sake Ice Cream and rushed to our bus with it. 

6) 世界遺産であること/ Being World Heritage

白川郷のすぐ近くには、東海北陸自動車道や、たくさんのダムがあり(いくつかの合掌造りはそこに水没しています）、そして引き続き建設が行われています。

世界遺産であることは、それらから守られているのですね。

今回、世界遺産は数年に一度見直しがあるので、一度指定されたからといって、そのまま指定でありつづけるのではないと知りました。

白川郷の方々は、世界遺産でありつづけるために、日頃からケアーをしているのですね。

Being World Heritage

Near Shirakawago are Tokai-Hokuriku Express and many Dams (a few Gassho-Zukuri were submerged under the water) and some dams are still being built.

Shirakawago is protected from them by being World Heritage, isn't it?

This time I knew that the World Heritage Sites are reviewed every a few years, so it does not continue being the same designation if not properly maintained.

Shirakawago people always care about being World Heritage, don't they?

7) 帰宅 / On Our Way Home

帰りは、町田でおり、藤沢周りでおりました。

藤沢駅からタクシーで家まで帰りましたが、鎌倉駅からよりも安くて、ちょっと驚きました。

バス旅行は楽しかったです。

Rは、自分で運転しないこと、景色が高いところから見られることが、喜びになったようで、私以上に気に入っていました。

そうそう、今回、利用したバス旅行会社は、'クラブツーリズム'です。

添乗員さんも、運転手さんも良かったです。

コース設定も満足しました。

難点が、ひとつ、飛騨高山見学が多少無理がある設定でしたので、私達には実現できませんでした。

また機会がありましたら、バス旅行をしたいと思います。

On Our Way Home

We got off the bus at Machida and used a train to Fujisawa Station on our way home.

The taxi cost was cheaper from Fujisawa Station to our house, than from Kamakura Station which was a little bit surprising.

I was pleased by this coach trip.

R does not have to drive, so he can relax and enjoy the views from the high seat in a bus, so he enjoyed the coach trip more than me.

On! Yes! we used coach trip company: Club Tourism.

The guide and the driver are good.

Our itinerary was enjoyable. 

Just one thing, 'Look Around Hida Takayama City' was too tight, so we could not make it.

If we have a chance for another coach trip, we would go.
