作者の長谷川 祐子さんは、東京現代美術館のチーフ学芸員です。

この本のはじめに、長谷川さんは、

　"本書は入門書ではありません"

と、書いています。

ですが、私は入門書だと思いました。

アート、現代アートを説明し、幾人かの現代アートのアーティストを紹介し、作品を簡単に解析しています。

私は、おもしろく読みました。

とても完結に説明されているので、読者は理解しやすいです。

例えば、

"アートは何らかの形で、きちんと記憶の中に残ってゆくものです。"

"アートと科学は、同じゴールである「真理」にたどり着こうとして、まったく別の道を歩きはじめた二卵性双生児のようなものです"

答えが明確にわかっている人は、こんなふうに表現できるのだな〜と思いました。

けれども、そんな彼女でさえも、アートの答えはひとつでないと言っていますし、「何故？」の答えを追い続けているのです。

A popular curator, Yuko Hasegawa is the Chief Curator of 'Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo' for now. 

In the Introduction, this book says 'This book is not an introductory book'.

However, I think it is. 

It explains about art and contemporary art, introduces some contemporary artists and simple analyses of their works. 

I enjoyed reading it. 

The writing is very clear, so the reader can understand easily. 

For example,

"Art should be unforgettable in some way".

"Art and Science are like 'the fraternal twins' who wanted to reach the same goal, 'Truth',  although they started walking on completely different routes".

I felt the writer knew the questions and the answers clearly, so she can represent them well, like this. 

However, even she has said there is not just one answer about art, and she searches for  answers to her 'Why ?.'


This book introduces Francis Alÿs.  His exhibition in Tate Modern in 2010 : below.
