"結婚10周年アートの旅" をしました。
栗林公園 (リツリンコウエン)については、
4つのセクションに分けました。
このセクションは、ルートと北庭A&Bについてです。

10th Wedding Anniversary Art Trip, 6th of February
6th -12th of February 2023
February 14th was our wedding anniversary, 
and my husband R and I had 
 a "10th wedding anniversary art trip".
I have divided  Ritsurin Garden : ★ into 4 sections.
This section is about Route and Garden A&B.

栗林公園は、"ミシュラン・グリーンガイド・ジャポン" で、三つ星獲得しています。

私達は、香川県庁東館から歩き、

北門から (マップ右上) 、栗林公園 へ入りました。

We walked from the Kagawa Prefectural Office Government

 East Building and entered Ritsurin Garden through

the North Gate (top right of map) .

B. "一歩一景" / "One Step, One View"

パンフレットの説明に、"一歩一景" という言葉があります。

"一歩一景" とは、'一歩進むごとに景色が変わる' という意味です。

この言葉通り、栗林公園を歩いていると、あちらにも、こちらにも目が奪われ、カメラの向きも、あちらへこちらへと動かし、撮影しました。

このセクションは、まとまりがあまりつかないままで、読みづらく、見づらくもありますが、それが栗林公園での私の興奮を表すものでもあると思います。

The Japanese leaflet explains about the garden using a phrase "one step, one view".

"one step, one view" means that the scenery changes with every step you take.

Just as the saying goes, as I walked through Ritsurin Garden, my eyes were drawn to everything, and I found myself moving my camera from place to place as I turned.t

C. ランドスケープと庭

 Landscape and Garden

紫雲山 (シウンザン) を背景にした作庭は、スノードニアを背景にした英国のボドナント・ガーデン / Bodnant Garden を連想させました。

他の場所でも、自然のランドスケープを利用して、庭が作られることはありますが、私が初めて自然を利用した庭づくりを意識したのが、ボドナント・ガーデンでした。

ですが、日本にも古くからあったアイディアだったのですね。

"紫雲山 (シウンザン) の東麓に所在し、紫雲山を背景に、6つの池と13の 築山 (ツキヤマ) を配し、400年近い歴史を有する大名庭園である。

すぐれた地割と石組を有し、木石の雅趣に富んでいるとされている。

面積は約75haで文化財庭園では、国内最大の広さである。"　

Landscape and Garden

The garden, with Mt. Shiun as its backdrop, reminded me of Bodnant Garden in the UK, which has Snowdonia as its backdrop.

Gardens have been created using natural landscapes in other places as well, but it was Bodnant Garden that first made me aware of gardening that made use of nature.

But it seems that this idea has been around in Japan for a long time as well.

According to Japanese Wiki about the Ritsurin Garden,

"Located at the eastern foot of Mt. Shiun, with 6 ponds and 13 artificial hills against the backdrop of Mt. Shiun, this is a feudal lord's garden with a history of nearly 400 years.

With excellent land division and stonework, it is said to be rich in the elegance of wood and stone.

At approximately 75 hectares, it is the largest cultural property garden in Japan."

"北庭の群鴨池は、歴代藩主が鴨猟をするための鴨場でした。"

英国のリッチモンドパークを思い出します。

リッチモンドパークは、鹿の狩場でした。

Gunouchi Pond

"The Gunouchi Pond in the northern garden was

 a duck hunting ground for successive feudal lords."

Here reminds me of Richmond Park in Britain. 

Richmond Park was once a deer hunting ground.

ここも、リッチモンドパークも今や公共の場になり、
獲物達は保護されています。

Both this and Richmond Park are now public spaces
 and the game are protected.

B. 北梅林 / North Japanese Apricot Orchard

North Japanese Apricot Orchard

色が少ない冬に、ピンク色の花は、気持ちを明るくしてくれます。

そして、'春近し' のサインで、さらに気持ちをあげてくれます。

Pink flowers brighten the mood in the colourless winter.

And they're a sign that spring is near, giving me (us) even more of a lift.

ここの梅林は、紅梅がほとんどのようです。

It seems that most of the plum trees in this plum grove are red.
