1) JR原宿駅 / JR Harajuku Station

私と夫R は、新宿高島屋で、友人のグループ展を見た後、表参道へ向かいました。

表参道ヒルズ・Galerie412で開催中の

"KAZUYUKI TERADA - Observation of NATURE展"

を見るためです。

(この個展は次のセクションに載せます)

通常表参道へは、銀座線を使用し、表参道駅で降りますが、今日はJRを使用し、JR原宿駅から徒歩で向かうルートを選びました。

グループ展については下記。

② 2022年12月14日 はっこちゃんグループ展 - 東京 / Hakko Group

とてもとても久しぶりに来たJR原宿駅が、とてもとても変わっていてびっくりしました。

私は、原宿駅には、'古い駅舎' というイメージを持っていました。

2020年3月に新駅舎ができました。

旧駅舎は、一度解体されましたが、外観のデザインは趣を残し、新駅舎と併用されています。

耐久性や耐震性などのために古い建物を保存するのはなかなか難しいことですが、外観を保存しつつ、再建築する方法は、良いことに感じます。

なんでも新しくしてしまい、日本文化を失ってきてしまったことへの反省が、導き出した方法のように感じます。

このことは、青山同潤会 アパート (アオヤマ ドウジュンカン アパート / 1926,27竣工) が、2003年に解体され、2006年に表参道ヒルズの一部として、同潤館として再建設されたことと似ています。

My husband R and I headed to Omotesandō Street : Omotesandō after seeing a friend's group exhibition in  Shinjuku Takashimaya Department.

This was for visiting 

 "KAZUYUKI TERADA - Observation of NATURE Exhibition"

 in Galerie412,  Omotesando Hills.

(I will show you about the Exhibition in a next section)

Normally, I take the Ginza line to get to Omotesandō and get off at Omotesandō station, but today we decided to take the JR line and chose to walk from JR Harajuku station.

② 2022年12月14日 はっこちゃんグループ展 - 東京 / Hakko Group

It's been a long time since I last visited JR Harajuku Station, and 

I was surprised at how much it has changed.

I had an image of Harajuku Station as an 'old station building'.

A new station building was completed in March 2020.

The old station building was demolished once, but the exterior design remains tasteful and is used alongside the new station building.

It is quite difficult to preserve old buildings due to factors such as durability and earthquake resistance, but I feel that the method of rebuilding while preserving the exterior is a good one.

It feels like a method that was arrived at as a result of reflecting on how we have lost Japanese culture by making everything new.

This is similar to the Aoyama Dōjunkan Apartments (completed 1926 - 27), which were demolished in 2003 and rebuilt as DOJUN WING in 2006 as part of Omotesandō Hills.

東急プラザ  表参道 原宿
綺麗な黄色の木々を見たあとに、これを見ました。
これを企画した人は、原宿駅前の紅葉を知っていたのでしょうか？
中へ入ることにちょっと惹かれましたが、表参道に来た目的をまだはたしていなかったので、撮影だけしました。

After seeing the beautiful yellow trees, I saw this.

I wonder if the person who planned this knew 

about the autumn leaves in front of Harajuku Station?

I was a little tempted to go inside,

 but since we hadn't yet accomplished our purpose

 in coming to Omotesandō, I just took some photographs.

現代美術作品のようです。
2019年にテート・モダンで経験した作品: 
"Your spiral view 2002"
オラファー・エリアソン (1967 -) 作
を思い起こします。
エリアソンといえば、"ウェザー・プロジェクト"2003-4：
"THE UNILEVER SERIES: OLAFUR ELIASSON:
THE WEATHER PROJECT"
が有名ですが、彼は1990年代半ばから万華鏡を作り続けています。

Giant Kaleidoscope
It looks like a work of contemporary art.
It reminds me of the work I experienced in Tate Modern in 2019 : 
 "Your spiral view 2002 / by Olafur Eliasson  (1967-)".

Speaking of Eliasson, he is famous for "The Weather Project" 

at Tate Modern in 2003 :

 but he has been making kaleidoscopes since the mid-1990s.

B. イルミネーション / Illuminations 

12月の表参道の風物詩、イルミネーションを見ることができました。

表参道に来ても、イルミネーションが灯る時間までいることが少ないのです。

今日は、たくさん撮影しました。

Illuminations 

We were able to see the illuminations, a seasonal sight in Omotesandō in December.

Even when I (we) come to Omotesandō, it's rare that I (we) stay until the illuminations are lit up.

I took many photographs today.

Here are some of them.

表参道のイルミネーションの良さは、ライトだけでなく、個性的な建物のライティングがともにあることだと思います。

I think the great thing about the Omotesandō illuminations is not just the lights themselves, but the lighting of the unique buildings as well.

歩道橋
歩道橋から表参道のイルミネーションを見ることが人気でしたが、
今年もしくはこの日は閉鎖になってました。

Footbridge
It used to be popular to view the illuminations of Omotesandō
 from the footbridge, but this year, or on this day, it was closed.

12月の夜は、この歩道橋は人でいっぱいでしたが、

今は誰もいません。

On December nights, this footbridge is usually packed with people, 

but now it is deserted.

リフレクション/ Reflection

私はレフレクションまたはリフレクション効果が好きです。

レフレクションの世界にファンタジーの世界を感じるからです。

I like reflections or reflection effects.

Because the world of reflections gives me a feeling of a fantasy world.

C. 大きな 'くるみ割り人形' 

     Giant 'Nutcracker'

表参道の "大きな くるみ割り人形"

昼間に、新宿高島屋でも、'大きな くるみ割り人形' を見ました。

ここに来て、'COACH' (コーチ)が今年のクリスマス・ディスプレイとして

 'くるみ割り人形' を採用したのだと気が付きました。

During the day, we also saw a large 'Nutcracker' in Shinjuku Takashimaya.

It occurred to me that 'COACH' has chosen 

'The Nutcracker' as their Christmas display theme this year.

バレエ『くるみ割り人形』(1892) がクリスマスのお話なので、"くるみ割り人形"　がクリスマス時期の代表的な装飾品になっています。

下記、Wikiよりバレエ『くるみ割り人形』について。

"本作は、クリスマス・イヴにくるみ割り人形を贈られた少女が、

人形と共に夢の世界を旅するという物語である。
原作は、ドイツのE.T.Aホフマン (1776 - 1822) による童話

『くるみ割り人形とねずみの王様』(1816 / Nußknacker und Mausekönig) を、アレクサンドル・デュマ・ペール (1802 - 1870) がフランス語に翻案した『はしばみ割り物語』である。

クリスマスにちなんだ作品であることから毎年クリスマス・シーズンには世界中で盛んに上演される。

クラシック・バレエを代表する作品の一つであり、同じく

チャイコフスキー (ピョートル・チャイコフスキー / 1840 -1893 ) が作曲した。"

ウィンドウ・ディスプレイ
西洋風のディスプレイがロンドン・ピカデリーの
'フォートナム＆メイソン' (Fortnum & Mason) の
ウィンドウ・ディスプレイを思い起こさせます。

Window Display
The Western-style display reminds me of the window displays of
 'Fortnum & Mason' in Piccadilly, London.

Giant 'Nutcracker'

① 2022年12月14日 クリスマス・ディスプレイ - 東京 / Christmas

Here is an excerpt from what I wrote in that section.

The ballet "The Nutcracker" (1892) is a Christmas story, so the "Nutcracker" has become a typical decoration during the Christmas season.

According to Wiki about "The Nutcracker",

"The Nutcracker  Op. 71, is an 1892 two-act classical ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840 -1893), set on Christmas Eve at the foot of a Christmas tree in a child's imagination featuring a Nutcracker doll. 

The plot is an adaptation of Alexandre Dumas (1802 - 1870)'s 1844 short story The Nutcracker, itself a retelling of E. T. A. Hoffmann (1776 - 1822)'s 1816 short story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King (1816 / Nußknacker und Mausekönig)."
