Tanaka Washi Shop on 1st of November
田中和紙店は、鳥越神社 (トリコエジンジャ) の近くにあります。
私と夫Rは、湯島天神を訪ねた後に、田中和紙店へバスと徒歩で
向かいました。
湯島天神については下記。
次回の個展には和紙を使用してみようと思いましたが、あまりに私が和紙について無知なので、選択できず、ずるずると日々を重ねていました。
(次回の個展は2021年4月の予定でしたが、2022年4月に延期になりました）
そんな日々を私が送っていた時に、タマビ (多摩美術大学) の友人、キヨちゃん (岡田希代子さん) が、地元浅草で、個展をしました。
キヨちゃんの個展は、とても素晴らしかったです。
彼女の個展については下記。
その個展会場で、キヨちゃんから実家が田中和紙店で、現在そこで
働いていると聞きました。
嬉しい驚き！
個展会場で、後日、店に伺いキヨちゃんのアドバイスを受けながら
和紙を選択したいことをお願いしました。
そして、この日、江戸時代 (1603 - 1868) から続く田中和紙店へ
やってきました。
店内は、豊富な種類の和紙が、たくさんあり、何か目的をもって選択しなければ、選べないと思います。
私はキヨちゃんのアドバイスなくして、購入できませんでした。

Tanaka Washi Shop on 1st of November
Tanaka Washi Shop is near Torigoe Shrine.
After visiting Yushima Tenman-gū, I and my husband R headed to the Tanaka Washi Shop by a bus and on foot.
I decided to use Washi : Japanese paper, for my next exhibition, but
I was (am) so ignorant about Washi that I couldn't choose and buy any Washi, time went by.
(My next exhibition was scheduled for April 2021, but it has been postponed to April 2022)
In this time, Kiyo chan (Kiyoko Okada), a friend from Tama Art University, was holding her exhibition in her hometown of Asakusa, Tokyo.
Kiyo chan's Exhibition was very lovely.
About her Exhibition, below.
In the exhibition, I heard from Kiyo chan that her parents' house is Tanaka Washi Shop and she is currently working there.
Happy surprise!
At the exhibition venue, I asked her if I could visit the shop at a later date and receive advice from her about selecting Washi.
And on this day, I came to the shop, which has been around since the Edo period (1603 - 1868).
In the shop, there is a massive stock of, and so many kinds of Washi, and I think that you can't choose Washi unless you choose it for some purpose.
I couldn't buy Washi without Kiyo chan's advice.

| キヨちゃんと相談しながら いくつかの和紙を ドローイング用とリトグラフ用に 選択しました。 One of Washi In consultation with her, I chose Japanese paper for drawing and lithographs.  写真の和紙と '手すき芯紙#80'を選びました。 西洋の紙と同様に、和紙も色々な厚さがあります。 番号で、その厚さが示されているようです。 One of Washi I chose Washi as in these photographs and 'Tesuki shin-shi (Handmade paper) # 80'. Like Western paper, Washi comes in many thicknesses. The number seems to indicate its thickness. |

和紙を初めてドローイングに使用しました。
カラーインクは、学生の頃から親しんでいる画材です。

I used Washi for drawing for the first time.
Colour ink is an art material that I have been familiar with since I was a student.

| Though Washi is thin, it is very durable. 和紙は薄いけれども、とても丈夫です。 |

| 和紙を窓ガラスに透かしています。 庭の緑と重なって面白い効果が出ています。 ですが、この写真でそれがわかるかわかりません.... (私にはわかるのですけれどね） Washi seen through window glass. It overlaps with the greenery of the garden and has an interesting effect...but I don't know if you can see it in this photograph. (Anyway, I knew it) |

個展作品のための習作でしたが、11月末に開催される
原画カレンダー展に数点出品しました。
ちょっと申し訳ない気がしました...。
カレンダー展の収益は、ユニセフに寄付されました。
展覧会後にも、個人的に数人の方に買っていただきました。
その収益は、"国境のなき医師団"に寄付しました。
作品をご購入してくださった方々、ありがとうございました。

For Original Calendar Exhibition
They were practices for my exhibition work, but some of them were exhibited in the Original Calendar Exhibition held at the end of November.
I feel a little sorry ...
The proceeds of the calendar exhibition were donated to UNICEF.
Even after the exhibition, a few people personally bought others.
I donated the proceeds to "Médecins Sans Frontières".
Thank you to everyone who purchased my works.
C. 1つのイメージ / One Image
1つのイメージで、色々な展開を試みました。
ドローイングは、仕上げるのでなく、心をオープンにして描くことを心がけます。
まとめ上がって、優等生にならないように...ね。
One Image
I tried various developments with one image.
When drawing, I try to open my mind and draw, not finish it.
Don't be too well arranged and don't become a good student ...

まだまだ練習が必要...という当たり前のことがわかったのでした。
私にとって、和紙もカラーインクも楽しい素材です。
I knew that I still need to practice ...indeed...of course...
For me, both Washi and colour ink are fun materials.
