Sightseeing Boat
After a walk in Oirase Gorge, we got on a pleasure boat from Nenokuchi on the east coast of Lake Towada .
About a walk in Oirase Gorge, below.
Currently, as well as the Towada Kankō Pleasure Boat, used by our tour, the Towada Kankō Dentetsu's ferry are in operation.

| 表面積が61.1km²の十和田は、日本で12番目に大きな湖。 最大水深は326.8mで日本で第3位。 火山の山頂部に水がたまったカルデラ湖です。 海抜400m。 With a surface area of 61.1 km², Towada is Japan's 12th largest lake. The maximum water depth is 326.8m, which is the third deepest in Japan. 400m (1,800 ft) above sea level. This caldera lake is where water has accumulated at the top of the volcano. |
いくつかの写真は船のデッキから撮影し、ほとんどの写真は船室内からなので、窓のリフレクションが入っています。
Some photographs were taken from the deck of the ship, though most of them are from the cabin, so they have window reflections.

| 松が可愛らしい.... 通常、松は、'渋い味' だけれど、 この景色では可愛らしく感じます。 Pretty Pines .... Normally, pines have an 'astringent taste', but they feel pretty in this scenery. |

| 紅葉と水の深い色のコントラストが綺麗です。 The contrast between the autumn colours and the deep colours of the water is beautiful.  |

| 湖の島は岩島のように見えます。 土の栄養分がないところでも植物は成長しているのですね。 植物の生命力の強さを感じます。 The lake islands look like rock islands. Plants are growing even in the absence of soil nutrients. I feel vitality of the plants. |

| 甲島 '甲島 (カブトジマ)' と名付けられた訳がわかります。 Kabutojima Island ; Helmet Island I can see the reason why it was named 'Kabutojima'.  According to Wiki about Kabuto, "Kabuto is a type of helmet first used by ancient Japanese warriors, and in later periods, they became an important part of the traditional Japanese armour worn by the samurai class and their retainers in feudal Japan."  角度が変わると、違う印象になります。 '生き物' のように思えます。 When the angle changes, it gives a different impression. Seems like a 'creature'. |

3) "乙女の像" / "Statue of Maidens"
もうすぐ、休屋 (ヤスミヤ)に到着と言うところで、2体の彫像を見つけました。
カップルの彫像かと思ったのですが、２体の女性像であることがのちにわかりました。
尚且つ、高村 光太郎 (タカムラ コウタロウ) の作品と知って、驚きました。
私には、高村 光太郎と、この地が、にわかには結びつかなかったからです。
なぜ高村光太郎作品がここにあるかは、十和田国立公園協会のサイトに説明されています→★。

| "乙女の像"、観光船から 高村 光太郎 (タカムラ コウタロウ / 1883 - 1956) 作 乙女の像 : ★は高村 光太郎の最後の作品です。 1953年、除幕式 60cmの小型像は、青森県立郷土館に展示されてあります。 "Statue of Maidens", from Our Sightseeing Boat By Kōtarō Takamura (1883 - 1956) Statue of Maidens : ★ is Kotaro Takamura's last work. Unveiling Ceremony in 1953 There is a small 60 cm version on display in the Aomori Prefectural Folk Museum.  ● : 'Statue of Maidens' |
高村 光太郎は、この像について下のように語りました。
「湖水に写った自分の像を見ているうちに、同じものが向かい合い、見合うなかで深まっていくものがあることを感じた。それで同じものをわざと向かい合わせた」
「二体の背の線を伸ばした三角形が″無限″を表す」
「彫刻は空間を見る。二体の間にできるスキ間に面白味がある」

小説家、佐藤春夫 (1892 - 1964) は
「十和田湖の自然を雄大で静かで、内面的な風景と見て、そうした
自然の味わい方を表現したもの」
と解釈していたと言います。
2体の乙女像は、1つは体、１つは心を表現していると言われています。
私はリフレクションの世界は好きで、それは水面下や鏡の中に別の世界があるように感じられるからです。
そしてそれは私の大好きなファンタジー世界につながっています。
ファンタジー世界とは精神世界なのです。
そんな私の思いと、この乙女像の発想は似たところに感じられます。
また、空間に関する高村光太郎の考え方も好きです。

"Statue of Maidens"
Just before arriving at Yasmiya, I spotted two statues.
I thought the statue was of a couple, but later I found out that it was of two women : "Statue of Maidens": "The Bronze Statue of Women".
Moreover, I was surprised to learn that it was a work by Kōtarō Takamura.
For me, this was because Kōtarō Takamura and this place were not immediately connected.
The reason why Kotaro Takamura's work is here is explained on the website of General Incorporated Association Lake Towada National Park Association.
According to their Website, about "The Bronze Statue of Women",
"In the deepest part of Gozengahama, there is a pair of bronze statue of nude women 'Otome no Zo' by Kotaro Takamura.
In the fall of 1965, as a project commemorating the 15th anniversary of the designation of the national park, Towada Lake and Oirase were widely introduced to the world.
It was built in the honor of the village chief, Mr.Koichi Ogasawara,
the governor of Aomori Prefecture at that time, Mr.Chiyosaburo Takeda, the great novelist in the Meiji period, Mr. Keigetsu Omachi."
Takamura talked about this statue, below.
"While looking at my image in the lake, I felt that the same things faced each other, and that there was something that deepened in the face of each other, so I intentionally faced the same thing."
"The triangle with the two lines made by their backs represents 'infinity'."
"Viewers should look at the space of the sculpture.
There is something interesting about the gap between the two bodies."
"The nature of Lake Towada is seen as a magnificent, quiet, and ones inner landscape, and the statue represents how to appreciate nature."
The two maiden statues are said to represent one body and one spirit.
I like the world of reflection because it feels as if there is another world under the water or in mirrors, or glasses.
And that leads to my favourite fantasy world.
The fantasy world is the spiritual world.
I feel that my thoughts and the idea behind this maidens statue are similar.
I also like Takamura's way of thinking about space.
 発荷峠から十和田湖を見る 遊覧船の後は、十和田湖を一望できる 発荷峠 (ハッカトウゲ)へ行きました。 標高 631mです。 View Lake Towada from Hakka Pass After the pleasure boat, we went to the Hakkatouge, which overlooks Lake Towada. The pass is located on the border between Kazuno City, and Kosaka Town, Akita Prefecture, at an altitude of 631 m. |
