A. 北欧との繋がり / Connections with North Europe
イラストレイターになりたての頃にさせていただいた仕事が、"サンタクロースからの手紙"でした。

フィンランドにある "サンタクロースの国" から、日本に申し込んだ人に向けてクリスマスカード (アドヴェント・カレンダー)が届くという設定でした。

多くの場合、おじいちゃん、おばあちゃんがお孫さんに向けて申し込みをすると聞きました。

カードの他に、'サンタクロースの国'の扉を開ける鍵もついていて、鍵の型になる見本(原型)も作らせていただきました。

今から思うと、カードは、サンペの絵柄に 'そっくりさん' で、恥ずかしい限りです。

また、大阪府立国際児童文学館  (1984 - 2009)で開催されていた、ムーミン・ゼミにも参加し、北欧との繋がりが増えました。

ムーミン・ゼミで知りたった方々から、北欧、ムーミン、その他児童文学に関する様々なことを教えていただき、その方々は、私の素敵な友人になりました。

鎌倉に住み始めてからは、お気に入りの雑貨屋さんが北欧ショップです。

北欧とは、長く繋がっているように感じています。

Connections with North Europe

When I began as a freelance illustrator, one of my first jobs was "Letter from Santa Claus" : Advent Calendar.

An Advent Calendar was sent  to people in Japan from 'The Country of Santa Claus' in Finland.

I heard that in many cases grandpa and grandma applied for their grandchildren.

In addition to the Calendar, they also received a key that opens the door into 'The Country of Santa Claus', and I made the original 3-d model.

Thinking about it now, my illustrations on the Calendar look in the style of Sempé's 
illustrations, which is embarrassing.

In addition, I participated in Moomin Seminars held at International Institute for Children's Literature, Osaka Prefecture (1984 - 2009) , and I made more connections with Northern Europe.

I learnt about Northern Europe, Moomins and other children's literatures from the people who I met in the Moomin Seminars, now they are my lovely friends.

Since I started living in Kamakura, my favourite things shop in Kamakura is the North Europe shop.

I feel that I have a long connection with North Europe.

B. 私の北欧, ノルディック / My North Europe, Nordics

'北欧'は、狭義と広義でどの国(地域)かが違います。

北欧の狭義では下の五カ国です。
 スウェーデン
 デンマーク( フェロー諸島 +  グリーンランド)
 ノルウェー
 フィンランド( オーランド諸島)
 アイスランド

私にとっての北欧は、この五カ国です。

この五カ国は、ノルディックス/ Nordics (Nordic countries) と呼ばれます。

下の '五ヶ国三地域が北欧理事会 (Nordic Council ) 加盟国' で、'ノルディックス' と同じ地域です。
 スウェーデン
 デンマーク
 ノルウェー
 フィンランド
 アイスランド
 グリーンランド（デンマーク王国構成国）
 フェロー諸島（デンマーク王国構成国）
 オーランド諸島（フィンランド領）

広義では、'イギリスとアイルランド、そしてドイツやロシアのバルト海沿岸部も含まれる' のだそうです。

イギリスもアイルランドもドイツも私にとっては、'ヨーロッパ' で、ロシアは、ヨーロッパというよりも、'ロシア' です(笑)。

私が初めて北欧に旅をしたのは、2017年、フィンランドのヘルシンキでした(下記)。

今回の旅行は、スウェーデン王国のストックホルムです。

北欧理事会  / Nordic Council

My North Europe, Nordics

North Europe has narrow and broader definitions which include different countries (regions).

Narrowly, it is the five countries, below.

Sweden

 Denmark (  Faroe Islands+ Greenland)

 Norway

 Finland ( Åland Islands )

 Iceland

For me, Northern Europe is these five countries.

These five countries are called the Nordics (Nordic countries).

Below, the three regions of the five countries are Nordic Council members.

 Denmark 

 Norway

 Finland

 Iceland

 Greenland (region of the Kingdom of Denmark)

 Faroe Islands (region of the Kingdom of Denmark)

 Åland Islands (region of Finland)

In the broader definition, Northern Europe includes Britain and Ireland, as well as the Baltic Sea coasts of Germany and Russia.

For me, England, Ireland, and Germany are 'Europe', and Russia is 'Russia' rather than Europe (Laugh).

My first trip to Northern Europe was in 2017 in Helsinki, Finland (below).

This time our trip was to Stockholm, Sweden.

2) ヒースロー空港 / Heathrow Airport
A. フォートナム& メイソン / Fortnum & Mason 
英国滞在中、自宅で過ごしているときは、外食には行きません。

夫、Rの食の問題があり、外食が煩わしいのです。

旅の最中でも、キッチン付きの宿泊所によく泊まります。

なので外食やバーが利用できるとき、私はおそらく普通の方々よりも嬉しいと思います。

ストックホルム (アーランダ空港)には、ヒースロー空港から向かい、空港では、フォートナム& メイソン のバー : ★を利用しました。

I don't go out to eat when I'm at home during my stay in Britain.

There is a food problem for R and eating out is annoying.

During our trip, we often stay in accommodation with kitchen.

So I'd probably be more happy than the average person when eating out or in a bar.

We headed to Stockholm (Arlanda Airport) from Heathrow Airport, where we used the Fortnum & Mason bar : ★.

B. 離陸 / Take Off

何度乗っても飛行機は楽しい！
特に、離陸時は好きです。

No matter how many times I get on a plane, flying is fun!
My favourite part is when I take off.

行ってきま〜す！
Here we go!

英国は山がないな〜と実感します。
I realize that Britain has no mountains.

空に、海に、氷河！でしょう〜？
お気に入りの景色です。

There are the sky, the sea, and glaciers! aren't there?
These are my favourite views.
