After a visit to Hereford Cathedral , we started exploring the city.
That point is also described in a former section, below.

ヘレフォード大聖堂から北へ伸びてゆくのが "教会通り" / "Church Street"。 "ラ・マンデリン" / "La Madeleine"と "リッチフィールドヴォルツ" / "The Lichfield Vaults" は この通りにあります。 "Church Street" Extending north from Hereford Cathedral is "Church Street". "La Madeleine" and "The Lichfield Vaults" are on the Street. |

とにかく、一休みしたかったので、お茶を飲みました。
Unfortunately when we went to "La Madeleine", the meal time was over.
Anyway, I wanted to take a break, so I drank tea.

お料理の評判が良いお店でしたので、その料理を食べることができず、残念ではありました。
けれども、お店が静かであったので、空気が穏やかで、庭でのお茶の時間に非常に幸福感があり、くつろぐことができました。
まあ、お天気もよかったのも影響していますね。
It was a pity that we couldn't eat their dishes because the restaurant has a good reputation for cooking.
However, the restaurant was quiet, so the air was calm and I was very happy and relaxed during the tea time in the garden.
Well, the good weather also had an effect.

高評価を受けているらしいです。
They seem to have received high praise from CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale),
an organization that protects traditional pubs.

このパブで、RからヘレフォードにはSAS : 特殊空挺部隊 (トクシュクウテイブタイ / Special Air Service)の指令本部があると聞きました。
以前、"S.A.S. 英国特殊部隊 / Ultimate Force (2002 - 2006 / ITV, STV, UTV)"というドラマを2、3 回見た記憶があり、SASの存在を思い出しました。
ドラマのオープニング曲が印象的でしたが、英語の理解度が低いせいか、内容をほとんど覚えていません(苦笑)。
実際には、1980年に駐英イラン大使館占拠事件で世界的に有名になりました。
(実はこれもRから聞きました)
ワイ川 / River Wye、橋とヘリフォード大聖堂のある景色が美しかったり、街が穏やかな雰囲気だったりで、SASを匂わせるものは何もないように私には感じられました。

In this pub I heard from R that Hereford has a command headquarters for SAS : Special Air Service.
I remember watching the drama "Ultimate Force (2002-2006 / ITV, STV, UTV)" a couple of times and remembered the existence of the SAS.
The opening song of the drama was impressive, but I hardly remember the content because of my poor understanding of English (Wry smile).
In actual fact, the SAS became world-famous in the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege in Britain.

Hereford has scenic views of the River Wye, the bridge, and Hereford Cathedral, and the city has a calm atmosphere, I felt there was no hint of the SAS.

Butcombe Original
大抵、そのパブから近い醸造所のビールを選びます。 ここにはチェコのビールもありましたが、 英国産に固執！ 最初はブッコムオリジナル / Butcombe Originalを選びました。
Most of the time, I pick a beer from a brewery close to a pub.
They also had a Czech beer here, but I stuck to British beer.
At first I chose Butcombe Original.

良かったね！

R drove, so only I drank.

R returned to the B & B: : "Brandon Lodge" where we were staying,
he finally got a beer in the bar of the B&B.
That was good!

中途半端な時間帯だったので店内には、殆ど人がいませんでした。
屋内の雰囲気は素敵でしたが、良いお天気でしたので屋外を選びました。
夏の炎天下に屋外に腰を降ろせるのは英国だからこそですね。

There were few people in the pub because it was a halfway time.
The inside atmosphere was lovely, though the weather was good
so we chose the outside.
It's particularly in Britain that we can sit outside under the hot summer sun.

花がパラソルの色に合わせてあり、お店の配慮がより一層感じられます。
The poor corner is covered with flower baskets.
The flowers match the colours of the parasols, showing their greater consideration.

風向計が好きでよく撮影します。
どこの屋根にある風見鶏かしら〜と、ぼんやり眺めました。

A weathercock is a type of anemoscope.
In Britain I see anemoscopes with various ideas.
I like anemoscopes and often photograph them.
I wondered which roof the weathercock was on while I gazed blankly at it.
