1) 英国の駐車場 / Car Park in Britain
昨日、私と夫Rは、ウィンブルドンの家を出発し、ヘレフォード / HerefordのB&B: Brandon Lodgeに到着、そのB&Bに2宿泊しました。
B&Bについては前回のセクションに載せています(下記)。
❶ 2019年7月23. 24日 ヘレフォード - Brandon Lodge - Hereford...
ヘレフォードは、ヘレフォードシャー/ Herefordshireの州都です。
ヘレフォード図 / Hereford Mappa Mundi があることで知られる、ヘレフォード大聖堂 / Hereford Cathedral があります。
本日は、ヘフォードの街を散策します。
私達のB&Bは街の中心地から少し離れているので、散策可能な駐車場へ移動しました。
B&Bのオーナーさんからオススメの駐車場を教えていただいたので、そこへ向かったつもり....でも間違えてオススメ近くの駐車場へ行ってしまいました。
そこはオススメの駐車場よりも多少高かったのかもしれません。
英国のほとんどの駐車場は先払いです。
自分が何分、何時間駐車するかを最初に決めて、駐車券発行機でチケットを購入し、係員に見えるように、車のフロントガラスに置きます。
Rもそのようにしたのですが、車のドアを閉めた時に、そのチケットが床に落ちたらしく、散策から戻ったら、駐車違反の罰金の通知が車のフロントガラスに置いてありました。
係員を、見つけたので、日時が印刷してあるチケットを見せましたが、キャンセルできるシステムはなく、取り仕切る機関にメールで連絡する方法しかありませんでした。
後日、そのチケットの写真や落ちてしまった様子の写真を添えてその機関にメールで提出しましたが、ばさっりと拒否され、結局、Rはしぶしぶ何日後かに支払いました。
R、お疲れ様でした。Arigato!

| 駐車場近くの大木 実を発見して、松であるとわかりました。 Big Tree Near Car Park I found cones and noticed it to be a pine. 
松ぼっくり
クリスマスデコレーションに使用されるような強大な松ぼっくりです。 同じ木なのに、色々な松ぼっくりがあります。 これは同じ松ぼっくりだけれど、 成長によって色も形も変化するということでしょうか？ Pine Cones There are huge pine cones like ones used as Christmas decorations.

Yesterday, I and my husband R left our house in Wimbledon and arrived at the B & B : Brandon Lodge in Hereford and have stayed there for 2 nights.
Hereford is the county city of Herefordshire.
Hereford Cathedral is well known for having the Hereford Mappa Mundi.
Today we would explore the town of Hereford.
Since our B & B is a bit far from the centre, we had moved to a walkable distance car park.
The B & B' owner told R his recommended car park, so we were going to go there ... but we accidentally went to a car park near the recommended one.
It may have been a little more expensive than the recommended car park.
Most British car parks are prepaid.
First decide how many minutes or how many hours you want to park, buy a ticket from the parking ticket machine and place it on the windshield in your car so that the attendant can see it.
R did the same, but when he closed the car door, the ticket seemed to fall to the floor, after returning from the walk, there was a notice of parking violation and fine on the windshield.
We found the clerk and showed the ticket with the date and time printed, but there was no cancellation system and there was no other way, so R should contact the governing organ by email.
At a later date, he submitted an email to the institution with photographs of the ticket and what had fallen, however, it was rejected quickly and eventually R paid reluctantly several days later.

川の風景が好き！
塔はヘレフォード大聖堂に違いありません。 I like River Scenery! The tower must be Hereford Cathedral.
Cross the river Wye into the city centre.

川の中の水生植物は、"ムジナモ" (貉藻、狢藻) と言います。
The aquatic plants in the river are called "Musinamo" in Japanese.
(Waterwheel plant or Aldrovanda vesiculosa in English).
 根があるように見えますが、実は、ないのです。 They look like having roots, in fact they do not.  日本では、牧野富太郎 (マキノ トミタロウ / 1862 -1957)氏 によって発見され、名付けられました。 牧野氏の「雑草という名の植物は無い」という言葉は有名ですね。 In Japan, it was discovered and was named by Tomitaro Makino(1862 -1957). Makino is famous for saying, "There is no plant named weed." |

成長すると、まだら模様はなくなり、白の胸と灰色の羽をもつ鳥です。

ワイ川は、自然保護とレクリエーションで有名なのだそうですが、行く時には川で遊ぶ人は見かけませんでした。
ですが、帰路では、下の写真の通り。
The River Wye is famous for its nature conservation and recreation, but no one was playing on the river on our way into town.
However, on the way back, as shown in the photographs, below.

マグの絵はビールのパインとグラスの中でカヌーを漕いでいます。 ジョークを効かせた絵は英国の方がよく見る気がします。
ちょっと自虐的ジョーク(ユーモア)が多いのかも？

I think the pictures with the joke look better in Britain.
Maybe are there many self-deprecating jokes?

| The Den ネットで調べたら、このカフェ・レストランが評判は良く、 駐車場にも近いので、夕飯の候補にしていました。 お茶をしつつ、Rの食の問題をクリアーできるかを 確かめに入りました。 結果は、できないようでしたので、ここで夕飯は食べませんでした。 When I checked it online, this cafe restaurant had a good reputation
and it was close to our car park, so here was one of possible dinner places.
While having tea, we started to see
if they could solve the problem of R's problems of food. The result did not seem to be possible, so I didn't eat dinner here. |

評判が良いことが納得できます。
The atmosphere in the store was wonderful.
We can understand that reputation is good.

| 珍しく、外の席に座りました。 まだスモーカーもいず、お日様の光と綺麗な空気が楽しめました。 Unusually, we sat outside. There was no smoker yet, so we enjoyed the sunshine and the beautiful air.  |

| "Left Bank" の建物 隣の建物を見ると川とリンクしたデザインでした。 ワイ橋から撮影した建物を思い出し、 その建物の裏に当たるのがここなのだと気がつきました。 Building of "Left Bank" Looking at the building next to it, it was a design linked to a river. I remembered taking a photograph of a building from the Wye Bridge and realized that this was the back of the building.

左の建物 (Left Bank)の裏にカフェの私達の席はありました。
Left Bank は、アート・ギャラリー、野外イベントスペース、カフェレストラン、バー、
主に結婚式に利用されるレンタルスペースなどがあります。
このロケーションですから、そこからの景色は良いことでしょう。

Behind the building : Left Bank on the left was our cafe seat.
Left Bank has an art gallery, outdoor event space, cafe-restaurant, bars,
and rental space, mainly used for weddings.
From this location, we can imagine the views from there will be good.

| 裏通り ; "Gwynne Street" (グィン・ストリート)
カフェには表通り(Bridge Street) から入りましたが、
出る時は裏通りを選びました。
時々、路地は魅力的、時々路地は危険です。
ヘリフォード大聖堂へ向かいます。

We entered the café from Bridge Street,
although when leaving we chose the back street.
Sometimes an alley is attractive, sometimes an alley is dangerous.
Head to Hereford Cathedral.
