1) 古民家 / Old Houses
石垣やいま村
Ishigaki Yaima Village
'Ishigaki-Yaima Village' is an open-air museum, mainly old houses of
Yaeyama Islands Japan's southernmost and westernmost theme park.  |
石垣やいま村 は、ラムサール条約登録湿地・名蔵アンパルに隣接しているため、木道に沿ってマングローブを間近に見ることができます。
けれども、私たちは、時間がなく、そこまで行くことはできませんでした。
また、'リスザル園 (リスザルの森)' も人気があるようですが、私たちは興味が薄く、そこも限られた時間をリスザルのためには使いませんでした。

Because Ishigaki-Yaima Village is adjacent to the 'Ramsar Convention' registered 'Wetland・Nagari Amparu', people can see the mangrove closely along the wooden path.
However, we had no time so we could not go there.
Also, 'Squirrel Monkeys Garden' seemed to be popular, but we were not interested and we did not use our limited time for squirrel monkeys.

喜舎場邸 / Kishaba Residence  石敢當 (イシガントウ / ピッチリ) は、 "石敢當などの文字が刻まれた魔よけの石碑や石標。 石敢当、泰山石敢當、石敢東、石散當、石散堂、石厳當と書かれたものもある。 中国で発祥したもので、日本では主に沖縄県や鹿児島県で見かける。"

Fisherman's House : Uminchu-ya
According
to the Explanation Board,
"Uminchu
means fisherman in Okinawa dialect.
in year
33 of Meiji
Era (1868 -1912).'King of the Sea', which is a pronoun for Okinawa and Itoman fisherman, they moved to Ishigaki, built houses, and made small communities
This
marks beginning of the Yaeyama fishing industry.
You
will find many stuffed crustaceans
and
some fishing tackle inside of this house."

もちろん、剥製でしょうけれど。

ヤシガニ
私は初めて"ヤシガニ"を見ました。世の中には、面白い生き物がいるものです。

ヤシガニ は、
"陸棲甲殻類のみならず陸上生活をする節足動物全体から見ても最大種である。
日本ではヤシガニのその名前や言い伝えから、
「ヤシの木に登りヤシの実を落として食べるカニ」
としてのイメージが定着している。
実際には、ヤシガニの食性は口に入るものなら腐敗した死肉でも食べる雑食性で、
必ずしもその主食にヤシの実があるわけではない。
ヤシの実を食すことは確かだが、実を切り落とすために木に登る習性も
確認されておらず、上記のイメージは口述伝承から生まれた誤解である"

名蔵湾 / Nagura Bay  竹富島か西表島か、崎枝半島か？ 竹富島 (タケトミジマ) には、同日行きましたし、西表島 (イリオモテジマ) は翌日行きました。 Taketomi Island ? or Iriomote Island? or Sakieda Peninsula? We went to Taketomi Island on the same day and went to Iriomote Island the next day. |

保護ケージ

カンムリワシは、八重山市の鳥であり、国指定特別天然記念物でもあり、 国内希少野生動植物種として種の保存法によって保護されています。 ここでは、交通事故などにより保護されたカンムリワシの リハビリを行っています。
翼がもがれて痛々しい...。
傷が癒えても、この鳥は自然へ戻ることはできません...気の毒に...。

国内でも石垣島と西表島など八重山諸島にのみ生息しており、200羽程 (2014年)しかいないとされているカンムリワシですが、交通事故による死亡事例が後を絶たたず、市は安全運転を呼びかけています。

is a bird of Yaeyama City,

is protected by the species preservation law
as domestic rare wild animals and plants.
Here,
they are conducting rehabilitation of 'Crested
Serpent Eagle'
injured by traffic accidents.
The
wing is plucked and painful ....
Even
if the wound heals, this bird can not return to nature ... sorry ....
