皆治浜 (カイジハマ) をミニバスで出発すると、土砂降りの雨！
When we left Kaiji Beach by minibus, it started raining heavily!
コンドイ浜
コンドイ浜は、トリップアドバイザーによる2017年の
"日本のベストビーチ トップ10"で第6位に選ばれています。
ミニバスは、コンドイ浜を窓から見られるように走ってくれましたが、
美しさはわかりませんでした。
Condoi Beach
Condoi Beach was ranked 6th of "Best Beaches of Japan, Top 10 in 2017's"
by the Trip Advisor.
Our mini bus drove on as it let us look at Condoi Beach from the window,
but I could not see the beauty.

Water Buffalo Carriage Stop is the same place as Taketomi Tourism Centre.
There is a souvenir shop and toilets.

竹富観光センターでは、沖縄の自然を紹介しています。
水牛車の順番を待っている間に、見ました。
Taketomi Tourism Centre introduces us to Okinawa Nature.
While we waited for our turn on a Water Buffalo Carriage, I looked at them.
ヤンバルクイナ
自分ではヤンバルクイナを撮影できないので、
ポスターを撮影しました(笑)。 Yanbaru-kuina
I can not photograph a Yanbaru-kuina (Okinawa Rail) myself,
so I photographed this poster (Laugh).

Yanbaru-kuina
Japanese name 'Yanbaru' is a designation that refers to the northern part of Okinawa Island which is named Yanbaru.
Yanbaru-kuina was designated as a Natural Treasure in 1982 and also was designated as Domestic Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora in 1993.
It was judged to be Endangered IA (CR) in 2017, Red Data of Okinawa Prefecture.

イリオモテヤマネコのポスター
イリオモテヤマネコは、1965年に西表島 (イリオモテジマ) で発見されました。 国の特別天然記念物。 私達のツアーには、西表島も含まれています。 詳しいことは、のちのセクションに載せます。

In 1965, Iriomote Cat was discovered in Iriomote Island.
The Cat is designated a Special Natural Monument.
Our tour also includes Iriomote Island.
I will refer to the Cat in a later section.

Dwarf Wood Scorpion
Their explanation come from Japanese Wiki, so I show you English Wiki, below.
"Dwarf Wood Scorpion is a species of scorpions belonging to the family Hemiscorpiidae."
キシノウエトカゲ
頭胴長は14 - 17.2cm、全長は30 - 38cmで、最大全長は40cmになる
日本のトカゲでは最大種。
名前は、漁業生物学者、岸上鎌吉 (キシノウエ ケンキチ / 1867 - 1929)
に由来します。
Kishinoue's Giant Skink
Kishinoue's Giant Skink is Endemism, only lives in Miyako Islands
and Yaeyama Islands.
The head body length is 14 - 17.2 cm, the total length is 30 - 38 cm
and the maximum total length is 40 cm.
It is the largest species of lizards in Japan.
The name came from a Japanese fisheries biologist, Kamakichi Kishinouye (1867 – 1929). |

| アーパー君 私達の水牛車を弾いてくれたのは、アーパー君です。 Arpar Kun It is this Arpar Kun, who pulled our water buffalo car.  オーストラリアからやってきて、2011年からここで働いています。 この角の形の水牛が元来、竹富島で働いていました。 たくましい体です。 He came from Australia and has worked here since 2011. Water buffalo with the shape of this horn were originally working in Taketomi Island. He has a strong body. 
この角度からの撮影は、なかなかできません。
私の人生で一度きりかも？

| 水牛は雨が好き！ 雨でも水牛車は動いています。 水牛は雨の方が嬉しいそうで、晴れの場合は、ホースで水をかけると聞きました。 Water Buffalo like Rain! Water Buffalo Carriages move even in the rain. I heard that a water buffalo is more pleased with rain and in case of sunshine, they are hosed with water. |

| レキオ君 北海道出身、北海道の水牛はツノがくるんと丸いのだそうです。
羊や牛の区別が私には今までつきませんでしたが、
水牛の顔は個性が強く、私にも違いがわかります。
Lekio Kun He came from Hokkaido, originally water buffalos which come from Hokkaido have rounded horns.
I haven't ever judged the distinctions between sheep or between cows,
however the faces of water buffalos have strong personalities,
so I can understand their differences.
 レキオ君は私達のあとの水牛車でしたが、元気いっぱいで 私達の水牛車に追いつき、非常に近くまでやってきました。 若いスタッフはずっと心配そうにしていました。 それは、彼女はレキオ君をまだ、 うまく制御できないからかもしれません。 ですが、お客さんを乗せているときは、彼女の笑顔は見られました。 Lekio Kun was after our carriage, he cheerfully caught up with our carriage and came very close. The young staff seemed to be anxious for a long time. It may be because she still can not control Lekio so well. However, when her carriage was holding customers, I could see her smile. |

あまりにレキオ君が近づくので、
一番端に座っていたRは、 「お客さん、足に気をつけてください」(私が訳しました） と御者さんに言われ、外に出していた足をひゅっとひっこめました。 Because Lekio was too close,
and R was sitting at the very end, so our driver said to R
"You, please take care of your feet"(I translated to him),
he pulled in his leg which was out.

北海道出身の '富ちゃん' だと思います。
私達が戻ってきたときに、スタンバイしていました。
ルキオ君と同じクルンとした角を持っていても、
ルキオ君とちがって、のほほ〜んとしています。
I think 'Tomi Chan' is from Hokkaido.
When we came back, he was on standby.
Even 'Tomi Chan' has the same round horns as 'Lekio Kun',
Tomi Chan' seems to be carefree which is different from 'Lekio Kun'. |
水牛の表情がみな違って、おもしろかったです。
All the buffalo's expressions were different, it was fun.

| お役目御免されて、くつろいでいるように見えました。 He seemed to be relaxing after retirement.   退職後、生かされていることにほっとします。 I am relieved that he is alive after retirement. |
