友人Mと食事をしたレストラン: Matsushima は北野にあります。

実際の住所が北野町でなくても、その周辺は、'北野'として認知され、呼ばれるように思います。

私達は、北野から海側へ、ウィンドー・ショッピングをしつつ向かいました。

途中、友人Mの好きなお店も紹介してもらい、入店もしました。

Kitano

After tasty lunch has filled my stomach, I should be a little active...

I had lunch with my friend, M in a restaurant, 'Matsushima' which is in Kitano.

❺2017年11月26日 - 1) 関西旅行 - Mとランチ / Kansai Trip - LUN...

Even if the actual address is not Kitano Town : Kitano-chō, its surroundings would be recognized as 'Kitano' and I think that people would call there Kitano.

From Kitano-chō area towards the seaside, we went window-shopping.

On the way, M introduced her favorite shops which we popped in.

神戸ムスリムモスク（回教寺院）: ★

日本で最初のモスクです。
誰でも見学できるそうですが、この日は外から撮影のみ。

Kobe Muslim Mosque
Built in 1935
This was the first mosque in Japan.
Everyone seems to be able to visit,
though on this day I only photographed from outside.

二人とも傘を用意してこなかったのに、雨がパラパラ降ってきて.....、Mがすぐにコンビニで傘を購入しました。

決断と実行が早い！

私は若い時よく、女性の友人たちに

「coonieが彼氏だったら良かった...」

と言われましたが、Mもそんな感じです。

Although neither of us had an umbrella, it began to sprinkle, M immediately bought an umbrella at a convenience store.

Decision and execution are quick!

When I was young, often my women friends said

"I wish coonie were my boyfriend ..."

I feel M is also such a person.

2) 北野工房のまち / Kitano Meister Garden

A 体験工房 / Experience Studios
"北野工房のまち"は、1998年に、旧北野小学校の「校舎の面影を極力残す事」をコンセプトに、リニューアルしてオープンされました。

Experience Studios

"Kitano Meister Garden" was opened in 1998, refurbished with the concept : Leave as much of former 'Kitano Primary School' building as possible.

お店が約20軒ほど入っていて、うち10軒ほどが物作りが体験できる工房です。

There are about 20 shops and about 10 of them are workshops (studios)
where you can experience making things.

11月17日には入賞者の発表があった(★)ので、
これらの作品はサンプルで展示されているのだと思います。

There were announcements of winners (★) on 17th of November,

so I think these works are being exhibited as samples.

B. 自撮り棒 / Selfie Stick

Mが自撮り棒を持参、これが便利品でした。

自撮り棒は、1980年代初頭に日本で発明、開発されましたが、当時は「無駄な発明」として揶揄され、自撮り棒は発明から30年後、21世紀に世界に広まりました。

実は私は、自撮り棒は東南アジアのどこかの国の発明品だとばかり思っていました。

というのも、英国でも日本でも、自撮り棒を使用しているのは、東南アジア系の人々で日本人はあまり見なかったからです。

"北野工房のまち"内で、Mが
「なんでもっと早く買わなかったのかと思う。便利品でしょう？、ほらっ」
と言って、私達を自撮り。

自撮りで興奮し、館内でほとんど自分のカメラで撮影しませんでした。

Rが撮影してくれる時、彼の撮影がとても遅いので、私はいつもムッとした顔で写っていますが、この日の彼女と一緒の写真は、すごく幸せな顔をした自分が写っていました。
(残念ながら、その写真はお見せできませんが...)

とはいうものの、私の携帯はガラケーですし、私が自撮り棒使用を始めるのは、まだまだ先になります。

Selfie Stick

M has a 'Selfie Stick', this is a convenient item.

'Selfie Stick's were invented and developed in Japan in the early 1980s, although they were made fun of as a "Wasteful Invention" at that time, 'Selfie Stick' spread to the world in the 21st Century 30 years after invention.

Actually I was thinking that 'Selfie Stick' was invented in some other country in Southeast Asia, because in both Britain and Japan, 'Selfie Sticks were used mostly by Southeast Asian people and I did not see Japanese who used them much.

In "Kitano Meister Garden", M said

"I wonder why I didn't buy this much earlier than I did."

while she took a photograph of us with her 'Selfie Stick'.

I was excited by this 'self-taking' and almost did not photograph with my camera in the building.

When R photographs, his taking is very slow, so my faces in his photographs are always bad-tempered, however, my faces are very happy in photographs with her on this day.
(I can not show that face photo ...)

Although yes, yes, my mobile phone is Garakei : flip phone : feature phone, I will not be able to start using a 'Selfie Stick' yet.

C. 二宮金次郎像とスマホ・ゾンビ

旧北野小学校関連品の展示

二宮金次郎像があり、時代を感じさせます。

Exhibits related to former Kitano Primary School
The statue of Kinjiro Ninomiya makes me think of those times.

二宮金次郎 [(ニノミヤキンジロウ / のちに尊徳 ( タカノリ/ ソントク/ 1787 -1856)]は、江戸時代後期の経世家、農政家、思想家です。

二宮金次郎像は、薪を背負いながら本を読んで歩く姿が勤勉を象徴し、日本各地の小学校に建てられました。

2010年代に入って歩きスマホの危険性が社会問題になり、最近の二宮金次郎像は坐像だそうで、ちょっと笑えます....。ですが、最近でもこの像を建てるのかと驚きもします。

私が時代を感じたのは、私が小学校から遠い世代になったからなのかもしれません。

歩きスマホは、英語で 'スマホ・ゾンビ' / smartphone zombie'と呼ぶ事を知り、そのシニカルなネーミングに西洋(ドイツ語が語源)を感じました。

こころなし、この金次郎君はモダンです。
さすが神戸の金次郎君！(笑)

Somehow this Kinjiro is modern.
Indeed, in Kobe! (Laugh)

Statue of Kinjiro Ninomiya and Smartphone Zombie

Kinjiro Ninomiya [ later Sontoku Ninomiya (Takanoori Ninomiya / 1787 - 1856)] was
a prominent 19^th Century Japanese agricultural leader, philosopher, moralist and
economist.

The statue of Kinjiro Ninomiya shows him walking and reading a book while carrying firewood, which symbolizes study and diligence, so his statues were often in primary schools and others in Japan.

The dangers of focusing on smartphones while walking : smartphone zombie became a social problem in the 2010s, recent statues seem to be seated images....which makes me laugh ..... however, I am also surprised at how recently they can still make statues of Kinjiro Ninomiya.

Perhaps I felt the times because my generation has become far from a primary school time.

In Japan, we call 'Aruki Smaho' which means 'walk as well as using smartphone', though I found 'smartphone zombie' in English, I felt Westerners' cynical naming.

3) トアロード / Tor Road

A. トアホテルとトアロードホテル

実際、"北野工房のまち"は、トアロード(★)沿いあります。

トアロードは、旧居留地と山手を南北に結ぶ坂道で、その道路名に知名度があります。

私がトアロードホテル山楽 (下の写真) を撮影したのは、私の勘違いからでした。

トアロードの名前の由来が、トアホテル (東亜ホテル/ Tor Hotel) (下の絵葉書)であったという微かな記憶があり、そのホテルがこのホテルに移行していったのだと、
トアロードでこのホテルを見た時に思ったのです。

実際は、トアロードホテル山楽は、トアホテルとは全く関係ないのでした。

Tor Road Hotel Sanraku : ★
One of Sanraku Hotel chain.

Tor Hotel and Tor Road Hotel

Actually, the "Kitano Meister Garden" is along Tor Road.

Tor Road is on the slope connecting the former 'Kobe Foreign Settlement' and Yamate : Up town to the north and south, the road name is well known.

It was from my misunderstanding that I photographed Tor Road Hotel Sanraku, above.

I had thought when I saw this hotel on Tor Road, that the origin of the name of Tor Road came from Tor Hotel below, and that the Tor Hotel had transferred to this hotel.

In fact, Tor Road Hotel Sanraku is located just along the Tor Road however, it is not related to Tor Hotel.

トアホテルは、イギリス人の富豪F・J・バーデンズの屋敷 "The Tor" (トールの家)があった場所に建てられました。
['トールの家'と聞くと、英語の岩山よりも北欧神話のトール神 (Thor) を私はイメージしてしまいます。]

その場所(神戸市中央区北野町4丁目15-1 )には、現在、神戸外国倶楽部があり、そこはトアロードの最北端にあたります。

ちなみに前述した神戸ムスリムモスクの竣工祝賀会は、1935年にトアホテルによって開催されました。

'Tor Hotel' was built in a place where there had been a mansion, "The Tor", built for a rich British man, F. J. Burdens.
(If I listen to the sound of Tor, I would have an image about Thor, rather than its meaning in English of a rock mountain or a high hill.)

That place is 4 Chome, Kitano-chō, Chūō, Kobe City, which is the northernmost tip of 'Tor Road' and currently the Kobe Club is there.

By the way, the celebration for the completion of the Kobe Muslim Mosque above-mentioned, was held in the Tor Hotel in 1935.
