禄剛埼灯台   / Rokko Point Lighthouse

狼煙は多くの文化の中にありますね〜。

The lighthouse's nickname is Noroshi Lighthouse
which means Smoke Signal.

Yamabushi mountain is south of this point which was used for smoke signals. 

The village below the lighthouse was called "Smoke Signal Village".

Smoke signals are in many cultures, aren't they?

能登半島の先にある"禄剛埼灯台"(ロッコウザキトウダイ)は、

英国人リチャード・ブラントン (1841-1901)により設計され、

初めて日本人によって建てられ、そのことによって明治天皇 (1852-1912)より、

菊の紋提示が許されたというか、贈られた？のです。

設計者のブラントンは日本滞在中(1868-1876)"26の日本の灯台"(★)を
設計しており、"日本の灯台の父"とされています。

ブラントンが帰国(1876)後建設されているためか、

"26の日本の灯台の中にこの灯台はカウントされていません。

"禄剛埼灯台"は、彼の仕事というよりも、日本人の仕事であるという方が
強く、ゆえに日本で唯一、菊の紋がある灯台なのでしょう。

1863年が江戸開城で1867年が大政奉還、その約20年後、この灯台の点灯。

灯台を設計することも建てる技術者もいなかった江戸時代から、

たった20年で日本(人)は、ここまできた....

近代化が急速に進んだことが感じられますし、

明治天皇の喜び様もわかるような気がします。

近代化の灯が日本人によって灯されたような、

そんな象徴が"禄剛埼灯台にはあるのですよね。

Opened : 10th of July, 1883
 "Rokko Point Lighthouse" (★) at the tip of Noto peninsula.
It was designed by a Briton, Richard Henry Brunton (1841 -1901) and
 it was the first time a lighthouse was built by Japanese, 
so Emperor Meiji  (1852-1912) gave it the Imperial Chrysanthemum Crest

While Brunton stayed in Japan :1868-1876, 
he made "26 Lighhouses"(★) , he is called "Father of Japanese Lighthouse" ."Rokkosaki Lighthouse" is not in this list :"26 Lighhouse", 

I wonder if it is because it was built after he left Japan.
I guess officially they thought it is important it was built by only Japanese 

rather than Brunton's work, therefore it is the only one with a Crest in Japan.
Japan changed from Edo period : Tokugwa Shogun to
  Meiji Period:  Emperor Meiji (1852-1912)  in 1868 and 

this lighthouse was built about 20 years later. 

Japanese could not design and build a lighthouse in Edo period, 

however, after only 20 years, Japan reached here, 

I can easily imagine how pleased Emperor Meiji was.  

Here, the lighthouse is symbolic of the 

Japanese lighting the lighthouse of modernization.

実際どこかはわかりません。
でもロシアのどこかでしょう？...

I heard Vladivostok, however, I did not know exactly where it is,
probably somewhere in Russia, isn't it?

赤い部分の南にある都市
Google Map で"Vladivostok"を記入してようやくわかりました。

The city is the south in a red part.
I put "Vladivostok" in Google Map, then I found it
and understand where it is now.

こんな碑を見つけました。

そうなんだ〜！

I found the stone monument of "Here is the Center of Japan",

I was surprised!

余談 / Digression

灯台は駐車場からかなり登ったところにあります。
降る道で狼煙漁港と珠洲岬(金剛崎)が見えました。
そして、干し柿だと思って撮影したら、玉ねぎでした。

The lighthouse is on the top of the hill.
Walking down to the coach I looked at Noroshi fishing port and 
the tip of Suzu (Kongou).
I thought I found hanging drying Kaki; persimmon, and then I photographed,
actually they were onions.
