2月14日が私達の結婚記念日、私と夫Rは
"結婚10周年アートの旅" をしました。
このセクションは主に屋島 (ヤシマ) についてです。

6th -12th of February 2023
February 14th was our wedding anniversary, 
and my husband R and I had 
 a "10th wedding anniversary art trip".
This section is mainly about Yashima, 
Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture.

1) 乗換 / Transfer

岡山駅(岡山県)で乗った 'マリンライナー25号' は、高松駅(香川県)に12:07に到着しました。

正確に覚えていませんが、マリンライナーは、5番線に到着したように思います。

できれば、12:10発の '高徳線 (コウトクセン) 普通三本松行' (1500形気動車) に乗りたいと思い、小走りをしました。

高徳線は、高松駅- 徳島駅間を結ぶ路線です。

私達が乗ったのは、途中の三本松駅 (サンボンマツエキ) までですが、私達の下車駅は、屋島駅 (ヤシマエキ) なので、問題ありませんでした。

1500形気動車
出発時間ギリギリで、撮影しました。
時間があれば、手すりを避けて撮影したのですが...。
1両だけであることにちょっと感動！
ワンマン運転です！

1500 Series Diesel Railcar 
I took this photograph just before the departure time.
If I had had time, I would have avoided the guard-rail
and taken the photograph...
I was a little impressed that there was only one carriage!
It's a one-man operation!

Transfer

The 'Marine Liner  No. 25' we got on at Okayama Station in Okayama Prefecture arrived at Takamatsu Station in Kagawa Prefecture at 12:07.

I don't remember exactly, but I think our Marine Liner arrived at platform 5.

We wanted to catch the 'Kōtoku Line Local Train towards Sanbonmatsu' departing at 12:10, so we jogged off.

The Kōtoku Line runs between Takamatsu Station and Tokushima Station.

We got the train towards Sanbonmatsu Station, one of the stations before Tokushima Station, our get-off station was Yashima Station which is before Sanbonmatsu Station, so it wasn't a problem.

整理券売機
高徳線の停車駅の半分近くが無人駅です。
なので、車内に整理券売機があるのですね。
昨年、指宿枕崎線 (イブスキマクラザキセン) に
乗った時にもありました。

Numbered Ticket Vending Machine
Nearly half of the stations on the Kōtoku Line are unmanned.
That's why there are numbered ticket vending machines
 on the train.
When I got the Ibusuki Makurazaki Line last year,
 they also had numbered ticket vending machines.

運賃表

私達の乗車券は鎌倉駅から屋島駅なので、

必要ありません。

Fare Table

 Our train tickets were from Kamakura Station to 

Yashima Station, so we didn't need numbered tickets.

We arrived at Yashima Station.

'特急うずしお'!
最初は、'特急しまんと'! (下の写真) と思ったのですが、
'特急うずしお' でした。
'うずしお' は、鳴門海峡 (ナルトカイキョウ)の
渦潮 ( ウズシオ) に由来します。
正式車体名は、'しまんと'と同じJR 四国2700系2714ですね。
オレンジポールの鏡に、私達が乗った電車が写っています。

'Uzushio Express'!

At first I thought it was the 'Shimanto Express'! (see photo below), 

but it was actually the 'Uzushio Express.

'Uzushio' comes from the whirlpools in the Naruto Strait.

Uzushio means strait in Japanese.

The official name of the train is the same 

as the 'Shimanto', JR Shikoku 2700 Series 2714.

The train we were on is reflected

 in the mirror on the orange pole above and below.

愛称は、'しまんと'、正式名はJR 四国2700系2714で、
特急形気動車 (トッキュウケイキドウシャ)です。
'しまんと' は、四万十川 (シマントガワ)からです。

 Limited Express 'SHIMANTO'

(At Takamatsu Station, today) 

Its nickname is 'SHIMANTO', 

its official name is JR Shikoku 2700 Series 2714, 

and it is a limited express diesel railcar.

''SHIMANTO'' comes from Shimanto River.

時計が私達の到着時間を示しています。

The clock shows our arrival time.

自動券売機
切符の販売機というよりも、食券販売機のような印象です。
色は寒色系ですが、暖かみのある可愛らしい印象を
与える販売機です。

Automatic Ticket Vending Machine
It looks more like a food ticket vending machine
than a ticket vending machine.

Although the colours are cool, the vending machine gives off 

a warm and cute impression.

C. 屋島 / Yashima

Rは、四国を訪れるのが初めてでしたので、もちろん、屋島に来たのも初めてです。

私は、四国をおとずれたことはありましたが、屋島は初めてでした。

四国村 ( シコクムラ) が屋島に来た目的で、それ以外の屋島については何も知りませんでした。

駅のホームにも、駅舎内にも、駅前にも、屋島観光についての案内があり、少し知ることができました。

屋島は瀬戸内海国立公園に含まれます。

Yashima

It was R's first time visiting Shikoku and, naturally, his first time at Yashima.

I had been to Shikoku before but not to Yashima.

My reason for coming to Yashima was to visit Shikoku Mura, but 

I knew nothing else about Yashima.

There was information about sightseeing on the station platform, inside the station building, and in front of the station, so I was able to learn a little about Yashima.

Yashima is within the Setonaikai National Park.

案内図 / Guide Map

屋島の名称は屋根のような形状に由来します。

屋は、屋根、島は、文字通り、'島'の意味です。

The name Yashima comes from the roof-like shape of the Island; Yashima.

Ya means roof and shima literally Japanese means 'island'.

島？

屋島は江戸時代までは、島でしたが、江戸時代から始まる塩田開発
と干拓水田は、後の時代に埋め立てられ、陸続きになったと
Wikiでは説明されています。
相引川 (アイビキガワ) は、屋島の南を巡り河道の両端に河口を
持ち、島を本島(四国)から分けています。
地図を見ると、屋島は、今でも、'島'に見えます。

Island?

Yashima was an island until the Edo period, but Wiki explains 

that the salt field development and reclaimed rice fields that

 began in the Edo period led to it being filled in later 

and becoming connected to the mainland ; Shikoku.

The Aibiki River runs around the south of Yashima, 

with mouths at both ends of the river channel,

separating the island from the mainland.

Looking at a map, Yashima still looks like an 'island'

"源平合戦 (1185年) の時代には屋島と四国本土はかなり離れていた。

江戸前期までは海であり、満潮時には海水が東西から満ち、干潮時には東西に分かれたことから「相引の瀬」と呼ばれたという。

生駒氏統治時代 (1600年 - 1640年) の寛永14年 (1637年) 、

生駒高俊 (イコマタカトシ/ 1611 - 1659) が堤防を築かせ、屋島と

四国本土は陸続きになったが、松平氏統治時代（1642年 - 1871年）になって、古来の名跡を惜しんだ初代藩主

松平頼重 (マツダイラ ヨリシゲ / 1622 - 1695)の命によって1647年

 (正保4年) に水路が復元され、現在の相引川の形が完成した。"

"松平 頼重(マツダイラ ヨリシゲ / 1622 - 1695)は、江戸時代前期の

大名。

讃岐国高松藩の初代藩主。

高松松平家の祖。

水戸藩2代藩主徳川光圀（水戸黄門）の同母兄、同3代藩主徳川綱條の実父。"

According to Japanese Wiki about Aibiki River, (translated by me)

"At the time of the Genpei War (1185), Yashima was quite far from the mainland of Shikoku.

Until the early Edo period, there was the sea, and at high tide seawater flowed in from the east and west, and at low tide it separated into east and west, so it was called 'Aibiki no Se : Match-making Tide'.

In 1637, during the reign of the Ikoma clan (1600 - 1640), Ikoma Takatoshi (1611-1659) had a levee built, connecting Yashima to the mainland of Shikoku. 

During the reign of the Matsudaira clan (1642 - 1871), the first feudal lord Matsudaira Yorishige (1622 - 1695), who was reluctant to lose the ancient name, ordered the restoration of the waterway in 1647, completing the current shape of the Aibiki River. "

僧兵
地図、右下に、弁慶 (ベンケイ/ 1155? - 1189) らしき
僧兵 (ソウヘイ) が描かれています。  

Sōhei
In the lower right corner of the map, it depicts a Sōhei,
a warrior monk who appears to be Benkei (1155 ? - 1189).

According to Wiki about Benkei,  

"Saitō Musashibō Benkei, popularly known by the mononym Benkei, was a Japanese warrior monk (sōhei) who lived in the latter years of the Heian Period (794 - 1185). 

Benkei led a varied life, first becoming a monk, then a mountain ascetic, and then a rogue warrior. 

He later came to respect and serve the famous warrior 

Minamoto no Yoshitsune (c. 1169 - c. 1232) , also known as Ushiwakamaru. "

ホームの案内板の端にこの絵がえがかれていました。
何かと？興味を惹かれて、撮影だけしました。
のちに、屋島に源平合戦の史跡があることを知り、
きっとこの絵は、那須 与一 (ナスノヨイチ/ 1169頃 - 1232頃) だと
思いました。
それとも義経 (ヨシツネ/ 1159 - 1189) でしょうか？

I found this picture on the edge of the guide board on the platform.

I was intrigued, so I just took a photograph.

Later I found  that there was Historic Genpei-Yashima Battlefield,

and I thought the picture must be of 

Nasu no Yoichi (c. 1169 - c. 1232).

Or maybe Minamoto no Yoshitsune (c. 1169 - c. 1232)?

According to Wiki about Nasu no Yoichi

"Nasu no Yoichi  was a samurai who fought alongside the Minamoto clan in the Genpei War (1180 - 1185). 

He is particularly famous for his actions at the Battle of Yashima in 1185. According to the Heike Monogatari : The Tale of the Heike, the enemy Taira clan placed a fan atop a pole on one of their ships, daring the Minamoto warriors to shoot it off. 

Sitting atop his mount in the waves, his target atop the ship rocking as well, Nasu nevertheless shot it down with only one shot."

3) 四国村へ / Towards Shikoku Mura

屋島駅から、四国村 ( シコクムラ) へ徒歩で向かいました。

途中、'古高松忠魂社' (フルタカマツチュウコンジンジャ) 前を通りました。

神社前から撮影のみしました。

From Yashima Station, we walked to Shikoku Mura.

On the way, we passed in front of Furutakamatu Loyalty Shrine.

I only took photographs in front of the shrine.

古高松忠魂社
住所 : 〒761-0104 香川県高松市高松町９１−６
四国攻め [1585 / 羽柴秀吉: 豊臣秀吉 (1537 - 1598 ) と
長宗我部 元親 (チョウソカベ モトチカ / 1539 -1599 )との戦争]
の際に、討死した城兵(白地城の兵)と、
明治以降の国難に殉じた古高松区戦没者二百八十人(柱)
が祀られているそうです。
古来より、地元の戦没者を祀っているのですね。

Furutakamatu Loyalty Shrine

Address : 91-6 Takamatsu-cho, Takamatsu City, 

Kagawa Prefecture, 761-0104

The soldiers of Shiroji Castle who died during 

the Invasion of Shikoku [1585 ; War between

 Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537 - 1598) and 

Chosokabe Motochika (1539 - 1599)], 

and also the 280 soldiers from the Furutakamatsu district who died 

in the national crisis after the Meiji era are enshrined here.

Local war dead have been commemorated here 

since ancient times.

The stone monument shows the shrine's origins and other details.
I just took a photograph without reading it.

実際は、赤い実が眩しいくらいだったのですが、
写真では暗くなってしまいました。

Red-berry Tree
In reality, the red berries were dazzling,
but they appear dark in the photograph.

屋島(山)の頂上を見上げます。
この山の山麓に四国村はあります。

Looking up at the peak of Mt. Yashima.
Shikokumura is located at the foot of this mountain.

サンポート高松からの屋島
前述しましたが、屋島の名称は屋根のような形状に由来します。
この写真から、その由来がよくわかりますね。

 from its roof-like shape.

You can see the origin of the name clearly from this photograph.

4) 到着 / Arriving 

四国村入り口
山麓にあるので、登りが続きます。

Entrance of Shikoku Mura
It's at the foot of the mountain so there's a lot of climbing to do.

四国村は、四国四県から江戸時代から明治時代の民家を中心とする、33棟の建物を移築復元した野外博物館です。

1976年 (昭和51年) に開館しました。

次のセクションから、複数のセクションで、四国村を載せます。

四国村見学の後、カフェにも
うどん屋のわら屋にも行きました。

After visiting Shikoku Mura, we went to a cafe and
also to a udon restaurant called Waraya.

Shikoku Mura is an open-air architectural museum that has relocated and restored 33 buildings, mainly private homes from the Edo to Meiji periods, from the four prefectures of Shikoku.

It opened in 1976 (Showa 51).
