今日も、園の前から撮影したり、動物園のデザインが施されている
マンホールやタイルを撮影したのみでした。

In front of the Zoo
Ever since I had lived in Kobe, I've wanted to visit Ōji Zoo, but I've never been there.
Today, I only took photographs from in front of the zoo and of a manhole and a tile that are decorated with the zoo's designs.
2) タンタン / Tantan

2000年に中国から王子動物園へやってきました。
2020年に中国への返還が決まっており、動物園では、返還前に、
'ありがとうタンタン' キャンペーンを行っていましたが、コロナ禍 (2019 ~)によって中国との輸送問題が起こり、帰還期日が延長されました。
2021年にタンタンの健康問題がおこり、日中双方の専門家によって治療がされました。
治療中、観覧中止、再開が繰り返されました。
私が園の前を歩いた時が、この時期になります。
【追記】 2025年3月11日
タンタンは、2024年3月31日に死亡しました。
王子動物園は、タンタンの死亡まで、日本で唯一ジャイアントパンダとコアラを同時に見ることができる動物園でした。

Tantan
Tantan (1995 - 2024) was a female giant panda.
(I don't know English pronunciation for 旦旦, so I just use Japanese pronunciation, Tantan)
She came to Ōji Zoo from China in 2000.
It was decided that Tantan would be returned to China in 2020, and the zoo ran a "Thank you Tantan" campaign before the return, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, transportation issues with China occurred and the return date was extended.
In 2021, Tantan developed health problems and was treated by experts from both Japan and China.
During treatment, viewing was suspended and resumed repeatedly.
This was the time when I walked in front of the zoo.
【Postscript】 11th of March, 2025
Tantan died on 31st of March, 2024.
Until Tantan's death, Oji Zoo was the only zoo in Japan where you could see giant panda and koalas at the same time.

| 工水空気弁 ロシア・アヴァンギャルド (アート) を思わせるデザインだな〜 と思い、撮影しました。 マンホールは知っていましたが、(工水) 空気弁というものが あることを初めて知りました。 Industrial Water Air Valve I thought the design reminded me of Russian avant-garde art, so I took a photograph of it. I knew what a manhole was, but this was the first time I'd heard of something called a water air valve. |
下記、栃木県企業局水道課のサイトより
"空気弁とは配管内にあって、空気を抜いたり空気を入れたりする
役目を果たす弁です。
水道管の凸部及び頂部には、管内に混入した空気が溜まりやすく、
空気が溜まることで通水能力が低下します。
また、水圧によって空気の体積が変化し圧力が変動することで管路事故を引き起こすこともあるため、空気弁を設けて管内の空気を逃しています。"
The following is from the Tochigi Prefecture Waterworks Department website : (translated by me)
"An air valve is a valve located inside pipes that lets air in and out.
Air that has got inside the pipes can easily accumulate at the convexities and tops of water pipes, which reduces the pipe's water flow capacity.
In addition, water pressure can change the volume of the air, causing pressure fluctuations that can lead to pipeline accidents, so air valves are installed to allow the air inside the pipes to escape."
