鎌倉山神社 / Kamakurayama Shrine 

随分前に、ご近所のHさんから、鎌倉山住人有志で、鎌倉山神社の

世話をしていると聞いていました。

Hさんもその有志の一人です。

鎌倉山神社があることを初めて知り、それは比較的我が家からも近くで、私はすでに神社周辺へは散歩で行っていることがわかりました。

外出好きな夫Rはすぐに場所を確かめたようですが、私は知らないままでいました。

最近、Rが神社が綺麗になっていたと言うので、近いうちに見に行こうと二人で話しました。

1月8日は、寒いけれど、晴れ渡り、空気も清々しい日でした。

出不精の私ですが、今日、鎌倉神社を見に行きたいと思い、Rと共に出かけました。

偶然、道でばったり、Hさんにお会いし、私は、心の中で、今日は、鎌倉神社へ行く日だったのだと確信しました。

彼女と少し世間話をし、

「実はこれから鎌倉神社へ行くのです」

と話すと彼女は

「まあ！ぜひ！」

と喜んでくださいました。

青空と雲が素敵！

Kamakurayama Shrine 

A long time ago, I heard from H San, my neighbourhood that volunteers resident in Kamakurayama are taking care of Kamakurayama Shrine.

H San, is one of the volunteers.

When I heard that there is a Kamakurayama shrine and that it is relatively close to my house, and I had already taken a walk around the shrine at that time.

My husband R , who likes to go out, seems to have confirmed the location immediately, but I didn't know.

Recently, he said that the shrine had been cleaned up, so we talked about going to see it soon.

The 8th of January was a cold but sunny day with a refreshing air.

I'm stay‐at‐home, but I wanted to go to visit Kamakurayama Shrine today, so I went out with R.

We happened to meet H San, as we set off, and I was convinced in my inside that today was the day to go to Kamakurayama Shrine.

We talked a little with her and

"Actually, we are just going to Kamakurayama Shrine now."

She said

"Oh! Yes! Please do!"

and was pleased.

ビュー・ポイントの1つです。
This area is one of the viewpoints.

江ノ島が見えます。
I can see Enoshima Island.

江ノ島灯台も見えます。
I can also see the Lighthouse of Enoshima Island.

最近、江ノ島灯台のことを
"江の島シーキャンドル"
と呼ぶのだと知りました。

Recently, I found out that the Enoshima Lighthouse is called
 "Enoshima Sea Candle".

一直線に伸びているものは何かな？と思い、カメラズームを使用しました。
おそらく、モノレール?

I wondered what is it that stretches in a straight line? and I used the camera zoom.

Probably the monorail?

なだらかな登りが続き、結構、足が辛い....

日頃の運動不足を感じつつ、歩きます。

The gentle climb continues, and my legs are quite painful ....

I walk while feeling the lack of exercise on a daily basis.

山だな〜と思います。
I think it's a mounta~~in.

ここがRが最も好きなビュー・ポイントです。
なぜなら、富士山が綺麗に見えるから。
電線で邪魔されずに富士山を見ることができる貴重な場所です。

This is R's favourite view point.

Because Mt. Fuji looks beautiful.

It is a valuable place where we can see Mt. Fuji 

without being disturbed by cables.

富士山の頭は雲に隠れています。

The summit of Mt. Fuji is hidden in the clouds.

この道は脇道に当たります。
角には鎌倉山神社の表示(下の画像)がありますが、
見落とし安い気がします。

This road is a side road.
There is a sign for Kamakurayama Shrine, below on the corner,
 but I think it's easy to overlook.

'カラスウリ'と思いましたが、小さすぎますね。
アオキでしょうか？

'I thought it was Trichosanthes, but it's too small.

この先かな？と歩いているとRに引き止められました。

この道の左手に神社への階段があります。

ここからではわからないでしょう？

Is it ahead? when I was walking, I was stopped by R.

There are steps to the shrine on the left side of this road.

You don't know from here, right?

神社にしてはあまりに狭い階段で、見過ごしました。

Small Entrance
I overlooked the steps, which seem too narrow for a shrine.

左には、"クマのプーさん"を思わせる
木のウロ (樹洞 / ジュドウ) があります。

On the left, there is a tree hollow reminiscent of
 "Winnie-the-Pooh".

右には神社の説明があります。

There is a description of the shrine on the right,
only in Japanese.
I try to translate its summary, below.
"Here the "Mountain God" was the guardian of the farmers 
in Fueda, Kamakura and also the God of maritime protection
for the fishermen of the former Tsu village, Kamakura.
Along with the construction of Kamakurayama
as a residential area, the shrine was rebuilt in 1935 (Showa 10),
and the name was changed to 'Kamakurayama Shrine'."

正式な鳥居があるとは思わなかったので
少しびっくりしました。

I was a little surprised
because I didn't think there would be a formal Torii : shrine gate.

小さな祠 (ホコラ) が見えました。

I saw a small Hokora.
Hokora is a miniature Shinto shrine either found on the precincts
of a larger shrine and dedicated to folk kami,
or on a street side, enshrining kami  : god not under
 the jurisdiction of any large shrine.

大山津見命 (オオヤマツミノカミ) が祀られています。
大山津見命は、国産みの神、
伊邪那岐命 (イザナギ) と伊邪那美命 (イザナミ)
との間に生まれました。

Ōyama-tsumi God is enshrined.
Ōyama-tsumi God was born
between Izanagi God and Izanami Goddess,
who created Japan in Japanese mythology. 

<<大山津見命>>

大山津見命は、別名、酒解神 (サケトケノカミ)で、初めて、穀物から酒を作って神々に献じ、酒造の祖神とされています。

酒造の祖神が鎌倉山住人の守護神で、私は嬉しい！のですが...。

Wikiには、

"神名の「ツ」は「の」、「ミ」は神霊の意なので、

「オオヤマツミ」は「大いなる山の神」という意味となる。"

とあります。

酒解神であることよりも、"山の神" であることによって、この神様がここに祀られているのです。

そして、山の神は一般に女神であるとされているので、私達の守護神は女神なのですね。

(自分の妻のことを「山の神」という表現が、この考え方から生まれたそうですが、最近は妻のことを「山の神」という人はあまりいないように思います)

<< Ōyama-tsumi >>

Ōyama-tsumi God is also known as Saketoke-no-kami, and is said to be the ancestor of sake brewing by making sake from grains and offering it to the Gods for the first time.

I'm glad that the ancestor of sake brewing is the guardian deity of Kamakurayama residents!... However,....

According to Japanese Wiki about Ōyama-tsumi God,

"Since the god name 'tsu' means "Of' and 'mi' means 'God's spirit', so Ōyama-tsumi means the God of the Great Mountain. "

This God is enshrined here by being a "Mountain God" rather than being a 'Sake God'.

And since the Mountain God is generally considered to be a Goddess, our guardian deity is a Goddess, isn't she?

神社を訪れてもお参りしない時もあります。
ここは、きちんとお参りしました。
鎌倉山住人の守護神ですものね。

Even if we visit a shrine, we may not always worship.

Here we worshiped properly.

Here is the guardian deity of the residents of Kamakurayama.

すっきりした空間と綺麗な空気を感じます。

I feel a lucid space and clean air.

前の状態を知りませんが、綺麗に掃除してあります。

R曰く、以前はかなり鬱蒼としていたそうです。

規模は小さくても、きちんと管理されていることが感じられます。

Hさん達、ボランティアのおかげですね。

I don't know the previous condition, but it has cleanly been cleaned.

R, said it used to be very overgrown.

Even though the Shrine is small in scale, it feels well managed.

後ろに小さな箒が置かれているところが好きです。
この箒の存在が、'愛情と信仰' を表すからです。

I like the place where a small brush is placed behind.
This is because the existence of this brush expresses
 'love and faith'.

これはカメラのズームを使用して撮影しています。
茅ヶ崎の海らしい...

神社の周囲に家が建ち、電線や電柱が廻らされて、神社からの景色はかなり犯されています。

神社に人が住んでいないので、おそらく神社からの眺めに考慮されることなく、設置されたように思います。

(人は住んではいませんが、鎌倉山住人の守護神・大山津見命はいるはずなのです)

昔は見晴らしがきく場所であったと推測できます。

富士山方面
撮影はなるべく電線を避けています。

To Mt. Fuji
I avoid cables as much as possible when photographing.

Houses are built around the shrine, electric wires and utility poles are laid around, and the scenery from the shrine is considerably violated.

Since there are no people living in the shrine, I think it was installed without considering the view from the shrine.

(People do not live here, but there must be Ōyama-tsumi God, the guardian deity of Kamakurayama residents.)

It can be inferred that it used to be a place with good views.

いつも神様と一緒に過ごしている感じですね。

ドラマティックな形をしています。
They have dramatic shapes.

夜は動いているのではないかと...?
Maybe they are moving at night ...?

白くて太い幹が珍しいです。
何の木のでしょうか？

White and thick trunks are rare.
What kind of tree is it?

白い苔なのでしょうか？
Is it white moss?

恐竜の足のように見えます。
Looks like dinosaur's paws.

ダメージを受けた幹や枝が集められている形が
オブジェのように見えます。

The shape of a collection of damaged trunks and
branches looks like an object.

帰ります。
We are going home.

散歩で近くに行きましたら、お参りしたいと思います。

ここでのお参りが散歩のモチベーションにつながればいいな〜....

I would like to visit the shrine when I take a walk and come near.

I hope that the chance to worship here will motivate me to take a walk.
