1) ステンドグラス / Stained glass
A. グレート・イースト・ウィンドウ / Great East Window
グレート・イースト・ウィンドウは聖堂の最奥にあたる主祭壇のバックにあり、1350年頃に制作されたステンドグラスがはめ込まれています。
高さは22m、幅は12mもあるステンドグラスには、聖母マリアとその子であるイエスをはじめ、12使徒のイラストが描かれています。

前回から引き続き、グロスター大聖堂についてです。
グレート・イースト・ウィンドウは聖堂の最奥にあたる主祭壇のバックにあり、1350年頃に制作されたステンドグラスがはめ込まれています。
高さは22m、幅は12mもあるステンドグラスには、聖母マリアとその子であるイエスをはじめ、12使徒のイラストが描かれています。

K ; 聖母礼拝堂 / Lady Chapel

Great East Window
Continuing from the previous section, about Gloucester Cathedral, mainly stained glass and Lady Chapel.
The Great East Window is at the back of the main altar, at the far end of the cathedral, and is fitted with stained glass made around 1350.
The stained glass, which is 22m high and 12m wide, contains illustrations of the 12 apostles, including the Virgin Mary and her son Jesus.

B. クリストファー・ウォール / Christopher Whall
クリストファー・ウォールの作品以外にも、大聖堂には多くのステンドグラスがあります。
ステンドグラスもそれぞれの様式に合わて制作されたと思います。
クリストファー・ウォールのステンドグラスは、19世紀、アーツ・アンド・クラフツの作品です。
また、20世紀後半になっても、新しいステンドグラスが追加されています。
本当にこの大聖堂は、色々な様式が混ざり合っています。
実際に見ている間に、最近の作品は、明らかに違うので、わかりましたが、クリストファー・ウォールの作品は、わかりませんでした。
大聖堂の説明によると、聖母礼拝堂の北側のステンドグラスがクリストファー・ウォールの作品です。
ウォールの作品は、他のステンドグラスと比べると、白い場所が多い聖歌、軽い感じに仕上がっているように思います。
また、かっこよくておしゃれな感じがします。

Lady Chapel
大聖堂の説明によると、聖母礼拝堂の北側のステンドグラスがクリストファー・ウォールの作品です。
ウォールの作品は、他のステンドグラスと比べると、白い場所が多い聖歌、軽い感じに仕上がっているように思います。
また、かっこよくておしゃれな感じがします。

Christopher Whall
Gloucester Cathedral has many stained glass : ★ which were designed by Christopher Whall (1849 – 1924).
Besides Christopher Whall 's work, there are many stained glass in the Cathedral.
The Cathedral began in the late 7th century, the foundation of the building was built in Norman architecture in the late 11th century, after which every style of Gothic architecture was added.
I think that the stained glass was also produced according to the then current style.
Christopher Whall's stained glass was in Arts and Crafts style in the 19th - 20th centuries.
In addition, new stained glass is added even in the late 20th century.
Indeed, this Cathedral is a mixture of different styles.
While I was actually looking, I understood that the latest works were obviously different, but I could not notice Christopher Whall's works.
The Cathedral says, the stained glass north of the Lady Chapel is Whall's work.
Compared to other stained glass, Whall's work seems to be finished in a light feeling with a lot of white spaces.
It also looks cool and fashionable for me.
2) 聖母礼拝堂 / Lady Chapel
聖母礼拝堂 / Lady Chapel は、大聖堂の最も奥にあります。
私達は2階を見た後に、行きました。
そこへ行き着いた時には、かなり、疲れてしまってい、見ることに集中もできず、撮影に対する意欲もあまりありませんでした。
クリストファー・ウォールのステンドグラスがそこにあると知っていたなら、撮影もしたのですけれど...。

北側のステンドグラスは、 K 上の部分です。

Lady Chapel
Lady Chapel is at the far end of the Cathedral.
We went after seeing the first floor.
When I got there, I was pretty tired, I couldn't concentrate on looking, and I wasn't very motivated to photograph.
If I knew Christopher Whalll's stained glass was there, I would have photographed it ...

聖母礼拝堂
1465年に聖母礼拝堂は建てられています。
身廊の天井より、グッと装飾度がましています。
Lady Chapel
Lady Chapel was built in 1465.
The Vault ; arched ceiling is Gothic architecture.
The decoration is much better than the ceiling of the Nave.
