❻ 2019年8月20日 シャアボーン・パーク・エステート - コッツウォルズの旅 / Sherborne Park Estate - Cotswolds Trip, 20th of August, 2019

私と夫Rは、2019年8月、コッツウォルズ旅行をしました。
I and my husband R made a trip to the Cotswolds in August 2019.

散歩道 

グロスター州シャアボーン村 / Sherborneに、ナショナル・トラストが管理しているシャアボーン・パーク・エステート / Sherborne Park Estateがあります。

短い散歩道を自由に歩けます。

そのための駐車場は、
雌羊小屋(メスヒツジゴヤ) / Ewe Pen Barn (地図参照) にあります。

シャアボーン村を車で通過後に、そこへ寄ってみました。

Footpath

The Sherborne Park Estate managed by National Trust,

is located in Sherborne, Gloucestershire.

You can freely walk the short walking path.

There is a car park for this purpose at Ewe Pen Barn (see a map).

After passing through the  Sherborne village by car, we stopped by there.

入り口 / Entrance

おそらく、ナショナル・トラストの管理者の家ではないかと思います。
可愛い家です。

Probably the home of the admin of the National Trust.
It is a lovely house.

ちょっと、観光を意識したデザインに感じます。
I feel a little bit that the design is conscious of tourism.

散策 / Take a Walk

倉庫、または、家畜小屋、馬小屋でしょうか？
Is it a warehouse, shed for animals, or a stable?

'な〜んにもない' ととるか、'た〜くさんある' ととるか。
あまり時間がないのはわかっていましたが、
ゆったりとした気持ちになりたかったので進むことにしました。
のんびりとRと歩く....短くても豊かな時間。

Do you feel "Nothing is here" or "Here are many things"?
I knew we didn't have much time, but I wanted to feel relaxed, 
so I decided to proceed.
A leisurely walk with R .... A short but rich time.

セイヨウトチノキ

セイヨウトチノキは、英語で、 

"ホース・チェスト・ナッツ/ Horse-chestnut (ウマグリ)"

と呼ばれることを

英国のバースに留学したばかりの頃に知りました。

バースの公園にこの木があったからでした。

英語の別名は、コンカー・ツリー/ Conker Treeです。

英国には、トチの実は、客間や玄関に飾ると
クモが入ってこないという迷信があります。

実はRは英国の家の玄関の床にトチの実を置いています。
効果はいかが？   ??? (Who knows?)

Horse Chestnut

'Seiyo-tochino-ki' in Japanese.

I came to know it is called "Horse-chestnut" in English

 when I had just started studying overseas in Bath, Britain.

This was because there were several of these trees in a park in Bath.

Another name in English is "Conker Tree".

There is a superstition in Britain that when conkers are displayed

 in a guest room or by the entrance, spiders would not come in.

In fact, R has put a conker by the front floor of a British house.
Does it work? ???  (Who knows?)

名前の由来は、栗の仲間だからでなく、馬の胸(咳)の治療に使われたからだと、
今回、知りました。
この木がちょっと病気のようです...。

This time, I found that the origin of the name was not related to the chestnut family.
The name came from horse-chestnuts having been used 
to treat the chests (coughing) of horses.
This tree seems a little sick ...

シャアボーンハウスと聖メアリー・マグダレン教会

"シャアボーン・ハウス / Sherborne House" と

"聖メアリー・マグダレン教会 / St Mary Magdalene Church" には、

寄らず、シャアボーン村を去ってしまいました。

散歩の途中で見ることができたのはラッキーでした。

シャアボーン・ハウス は、イングリッシュ・ヘリテッジが管理し、

イギリス指定建造物の2級に指定されています。

"聖メアリー・マグダレン教会" もイギリス指定建造物の2級に指定されています。

Sherborne House and St Mary Magdalene Church

We left Sherborne village without stopping by "Sherborne House"

and "St Mary Magdalene Church" .
We were lucky to see them during our walk.

Sherborne House is managed by English Heritage and

is designated as Grade II* listed building.
"St Mary Magdalene Church" is also designated

as a Grade II* listed building.

2つは隣接しています。/ The two are adjacent.

There is something in the lower left shadow!

子鹿の彫像
周囲とよく馴染んでいます。

Fawn Statue
It blends well with the surroundings.

コースを全部回ると1時間半から2時間かかると地図に表示してありました。
次のロッジ・パークのことがあるので、ここで引き返すことにしました。

It was displayed on the map that it would take one
and a half to two hours for the entire route.
We decided to turn back here because we had another plan, "Lodge Park".

帰り道で... 
往路では気がつきませんでしたが、木の根元に何かありました。

 On the Way Back
I did not notice it on the way out, but there was something at the foot of the tree.

男性の木彫が！ / Men's Wood Carving!

男性と犬でした！
誰かを待っているのでしょうか？
待ち人(彼女)がくると良いですね。

It was a man and a dog!
Are you waiting for someone?
I hope she will come.

"しょうがないな〜..."
犬です。わかりますか？
ワンちゃんはあきらめ顔してます....

"I cannot help it..."
It's a dog. Do you understand?
The dog seems to have given up ...

こちらから見ると犬は見えません。
故意的にそう作っているのでしょうか？
素朴な木彫です。

I can't see the dog from here.
Was the creator intentionally making it that way?
This is a rustic wooden carving.

松ぼっくり、好きです。
 I like pine cones.

セリ科の花は大好き!
すでに数え切れないほど撮影しているのに、また撮ってしまいます。

I love Umbellifer flowers!
I have already taken countless photographs, but I will take them again.

1本の木
彫刻のようです。
