英国は(西洋は？）、結婚式と同様に、同窓会にカップルで参加が一般的なようです。
日本の同窓会は、伴侶を連れて参加というのは、特別な会の時だけで、通常の同窓会は本人のみ参加ですし、また、なんとなく、伴侶連れは嫌がられるような雰囲気があるように感じます。
Rの同窓会は、学年や学部を主体としたものでなく、仲良し寮生のグループに近いものでした。
彼らの大学はシェーフィールド / Sheffield にあり、リッチフィールドは比較的近く、短期の観光に向く都市のために選ばれたようです。
同窓会は2泊3日の企画でしたが、私達は途中参加で、1泊2日、リッチフィールドで過ごしました。
リッチフィールドは、シティ (cathedral city) かつ行政教区 (Civil Parish)で、リッチフィールド大聖堂があります。

R's Old Boy's Association
My husband R's old boys and old girls university association reunion was held in Lichfield, Staffordshire, Britain, and I attended with him.
In Britain (in the Western countries), it seems that couples are common in old boys and old girls associations, like weddings.
Japanese old boys or girls associations are meant to be attended with their partners only on special occasions, and the ordinary associations are only attended without the partners, and somehow I feel there is an atmosphere that prefers to avoid partners.
R's old boy's association was not about the grade or the departments, but they were friends in halls of residence.
Since their university was in Sheffield, it seems that Lichfield was decided as a nearby city and suits for short sightseeing.
The association was planned for 2 nights and 3 days, but we participated halfway and spent 1 night and 2 days in Lichfield.

大聖堂ホテル
同窓会の参加者のほとんどがこのホテルに泊まりました。 個人で泊まることはないホテルだと、私は、思います。
が、便利な立地あるので、ここが選択されたのは妥当に思いました。

Most of the reunion participants stayed in this hotel. I don't think we would stay individually.
However, I thought it was reasonable to select this
because it is conveniently located.

リッチフィールドに到着後、同窓会の時間まで、少し時間があったので、リッチフィールド大聖堂 / Lichfield Cathedralを見に行きました。
リッチフィールド大聖堂は、3本の尖塔があります。

リッチフィールドに到着後、同窓会の時間まで、少し時間があったので、リッチフィールド大聖堂 / Lichfield Cathedralを見に行きました。
リッチフィールド大聖堂は、3本の尖塔があります。
3つの尖塔は、しばしば "ベールの女性" と呼ばれます。
イギリスには3つの尖塔を持つ大聖堂は、3つしかありません。
13世紀から14世紀初頭から存在する、3つの尖塔を持つ、リッチフィールド大聖堂は、唯一の中世からの大聖堂です。
他の2つは、エディンバラの聖マリア聖堂 / St Mary's Cathedral (19世紀後半)と
コーンウォールのトゥルーロ大聖堂 / Truro Cathedral (19世紀後半〜20世紀初頭)です。

Lichfield Cathedral
The Cathedral is dedicated to St Chad (? - 672) and Saint Mary.
Its internal length is 113 m, and the breadth of the nave is 21 m.
The central spire is 77 m high and the western spires are about 58 m.

Three Spires
After arriving in Lichfield, we had a little time until the reunion, so we went to see Lichfield Cathedral.
Lichfield Cathedral has three spires.
The three spires are often referred to as the "Ladies of the Vale".
Britain only has three cathedrals with three spires.
Dating from the 13th century to the early 14th century, Lichfield Cathedral is the only such medieval cathedral.

リンカン大聖堂
14世紀から16世紀の間には、リンカン大聖堂 / Lincoln Cathedral にも
3つの尖塔がありました。
1549年に中央の尖塔が崩壊する前は、
238年間、ギザの大ピラミッドを抜き、世界で最も高い建物でした。
その後再建はされていません。
Lincoln Cathedral Between the 14th and 16th centuries, Lincoln Cathedral also had three spires.
For 238 years it was the tallest building in the world
and the first building to hold that title after the Great Pyramid of Giza.
