このマークはかわいいだけでなく、その内容を上手に表しています。

何気ない建物ですけれど、好きだったので撮影しました。

A. 運河のクルーズ / Canal Cruise
ブリュージュの地名は '橋'に由来します。
中世の街並みや歴史的な建物が点在するので、'天井のない美術館(博物館)' と呼ばれ、ユネスコの世界遺産に登録されています : ★。
また、昔、商業交通の為に使用された運河が街を行き交っているので、「北のベニス」とも呼ばれます。

It is one of the tourist highlights in Bruges, but we did not use it.

Canal Cruise
The
place name of Bruges comes from the word for 'bridge'.
The medieval town is dotted with historic buildings, so they say the "Town itself is the Museum without a ceiling", and it is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site : ★.
Also, as the canals used for commercial transport go back and forth across the city, it is also called the "Venice of the North".

B. 風車 / Windmill
ブルージュは13世紀以来、城壁に囲まれ、その外側にはお堀があって外敵の侵入を防いでいました。
城壁そのものは今日失われていますが、残っている4つの門によって、城壁の姿を察することができます。
街の東にある'十字の門'
('Kruispoort') は、4つの門のうちの１つです。
'十字の門' は、1294年から1304年にかけて、ふたつ目の城壁が建設されたときに作られました。
以降、門は3回作り直され、現在残っているものは、1400年に建造された二つの塔を持つ門です。
門の近くに、目指す風車があります。

白い三角は、ボートのためのものでしょうか？
From a Bridge
We walked on from Burg Square along Hoogstraat Street to a Windmill near 'Kruispoort' : Cross Gate.
Are the white triangles for boats?

Windmill
Bruges
had been surrounded by the walls since the 13th Century and a
moat on the outside to prevent invasion of foreign enemies.
The
walls are lost today, but with the remaining four gates you can see
the appearance of the wall.
The
'Cross Gate' ('Kruispoort') to the East of the city is
one of the four gates.
''Kruispoort'
was made when the second wall was constructed from 1294 to 1304.
Since
then, the gate has been recreated three times, and what is left is
the gate with two towers built in 1400.
Our
aim was the windmill near the Gate.

I photographed this from the outside of the town.
The bottom left is the moat part, or the canal.
The red balustrade belongs to the drawbridge.

この跳ね橋は、船が通過する際には橋が上がるので、車も自転車も人々も、船が通り過ぎるのを待たなければならないそうです。
運河の多いブルージュでは、このような跳ね橋が今もたくさんあり、時には車のエンジンを止めて待つことが日常なのだとか....

They say that the bridge will rise when the ship
passes, so cars, bicycles and people
have to wait for the ship to pass.
In
Bruges with many canals, there are still many such bridges, it is everyday life to stop the car engine and wait ....
街の中心地から、'十字の門'まで歩いたらへとへとで、
目当ての風車近くまでゆく体力と気力がありませんでした。
へたれな私はこの写真をとって終わり！(苦笑)
このあとは、バスでブリュージュ駅まで戻りました。
When
walking from the centre of the town to 'Cross Gate',
I did not have enough physical strength and energy to go close to my target, the Windmill.
So I just photographed this. (Wry smile)
After
this, we returned to Bruges station by bus.

風車
16世紀頃は30以上もあったとされる風車は、今では、たったの4基で、
街の北東に位置しています(下の地図参照)。
1700年代に作られた
"シント・ヤンスハイス"
/ "Sint-Janshuis Mill" : ㊵は、
中を見学できるそうです。

It
is said that by the 16th Century, there were more than 30,
nowadays
there are only four windmills which are located
in
the northeast of the city (see map below).
It seems we can see the inside of the 1700s "Sint-JanshuisMill: ㊵".  |

聖母教会 の塔
(写真はマリア通りから)
聖母教会 は、13世紀から15世紀にかけて建造されました。
世界で2番目に高いタワー。
ベルギーで最も高い115メートルの尖塔もありますが撮影していません。
Tower of the
Church of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk)

The
Church of Our Lady built from 13th Century to 15th Century.
The tower is the second highest in the world.
The
highest spire in Belgium at 115m is a landmark, although I did not photograph.

内部には、ブルゴーニュ公国の君主マリー・ド・ブルゴーニュの墓やミケランジェロ (1475 - 1564) の"聖母子像"、アンソニー・ヴァン・ダイク (1599 -1641) の"十字架上のキリスト"が置かれています。
残念ながら、私たちは外から見ただけで、中は見学していません。
Inside are the tomb of the monarch of Maury de Bourgogne, the principal of Burgundy, "Statue of the Virgin and Child / Madonna of Bruges" by Michelangelo (1475 - 1564) and "Christ on the Cross" by Anthony van Dyck (1599 -1641).
Unfortunately, we just saw the outside, we did not visit inside.
聖ヨハネ病院
聖母教会と向かい合っていて、有名な聖母教会に目を奪われがちですが、
まあ、私達もここを通り過ぎたのですけれどね。
現在はここは美術館やエキジビションセンターなどの複合施設になってるようですが入り口は反対側にあるようです。
Saint John’s Hospital
It is opposite the Church of Our Lady, so the famous Church of Our Lady seems to capture more attention than Saint John’s Hospital, however,
the Hospital has an eight hundred-year-old history of caring for pilgrims, travellers,
the poor and the sick.
Well, we just passed here, too.
Nowadays, it seems that it is becoming a complex such as an art museum and an exhibition centre, but the entrance seems to be on the other side. 
ただ良い風景だな〜と思って撮影しましたが、のちになって、
これは聖ヨハネ病院の一角であったとわかりました。
I thought that it was just a nice scene and I photographed however,
later I found out that this was a corner of St. John's Hospital.

地図でもわかるように、ワル広場は小さいです。
ちょっと道がひろくなったという感じ。
ブルージュで唯一の醸造所、デュ・ハルヴ・マーン/ De
Halve Maan は、この広場にあります。

As
you can see on the map, Wall Square is small.
It just seems to be a wide road.
The
only brewery in Bruges, 'De Halve Maan' is here.

B. シモン・ステーヴィン広場 / 'Simon Stevinplein' Square

'Simon Stevinplein' Square
多方面で、いろいろな発見をしました。
その内容を理解するのは、私にはチトむづかしいのです。
シモン・ステヴィンは、天才と呼ばれる人だったのかもしれません。
広場の中心には、シモン・ステヴィン 像があり、周囲のお店には、有名なチョコレート店：デゥモン/
Dumon や若者に人気のアバンギャルドなチョコレート・ライン/
Chocolate Lineがあります。
行きたいと思っていた2店のお店がここに一緒にあって、ラッキーでした。

The
name of 'Simon Stevinplein' Square comes from
a Bruges-born genius Simon
Stevin (1548 - 1620) who produced the decimal fractional
concept.
He
was a mathematician, a physicist, an accounting scholar and a Dutch
military chief officer.
He
made various discoveries in many areas.
Understanding
that content is difficult for me.
Simon
Stevin may have been a genius.
There
is a statue of Simon Stevin in the centre of the square, and among the surrounding shops a famous chocolate stop : 'Dumon' and the avant-garde 'Chocolate Line ' popular among young people.
C. マルクト広場と鐘楼 / Grote Markt and Bell Tower
ここで、ランチ〜！と思っていました。
珍しくRがお店の候補をあげていたので、そこへ行きました。
ランチ時間は終わっていたので、予約もせずに、席が確保でき、私達にしては大変珍しいことに、外の席を選びました。
"Grote Markt" / "Great Market Square" was the goal point on my plan.
Here,
lunch ~! I thought.
Unusually
R had a recommended restaurant for our lunch, so we went there.
Because
the lunch time was over, we could get a table without having made a reservation and we chose to eat outside to be very unusual for us.
I
will put that restaurant in a separate section, below.

鐘楼
マルクト広場にある、高さ 83mの鐘楼は、ブリュージュのランドマーク。
13世紀から15世紀に建造されました。
47個(48個？)の鐘が組み込まれたカリヨンがあり、
定期的に無料コンサートを行っています。
366段の階段ると遠くフランドルの平原まで見晴らせると聞きましたが、
私達は最初からギブアップ....
以前プラハの鐘楼を登って息が上がった経験があります。
世界遺産登録の"ベルギーとフランスの鐘楼群に含まれる鐘楼"の中の1つです。
Bell Tower
The
83m high bell tower in Grote Markt is the landmark of
Bruges.
It
was built from the 13th to 15th Centuries.
I
heard that you can look far across the plains of Flanders
if you climb the 366 steps.
We
gave up from the beginning .... We have had the experience of
climbing
the bell tower in Prague and being out of breath. |
古くから商工業で栄え、市民が強い力を持った自治都市が多くありました。
鐘楼はその自治、すなわち市民の自由の象徴だったのです。
高ければ高いほど、鐘の数が多ければ多いほど、その街の豊かさを物語ると言われています。
There
have been many autonomous cities that prospered from commercial and industrial activities for a long time.
A bell tower was a symbol of that autonomy, the civil liberty.
The
higher the bell and the greater the number of bells, we can see the
richness of the city.

西フランデレンの州政府のための元会合所です。
アントワープの市庁舎も多くの旗がはためいていました。
ここはブルージュ市庁舎もその周辺も旗が配置されています。
ベルギーの人は、旗が好きなのですね〜。

It is the former meeting place for the provincial government of West Flanders.
This
building in neo-Gothic
style and was constructed in two phases (1887-1892 and
1914 -1921).
There
were also many flags flapping at the city hall of Antwerp.
Here,
plenty of flags are decorating Provinciaal
Hof and
its surroundings.
Belgians like flags, don't they? |
二人の英雄
マルクト広場の中心には、ヤン・ブライデル(13世紀にブリュージに生まれる -?)と
ピーター・デ・コーニンク(? -1333年頃死亡)というフランダース地方の英雄の銅像があります。
また、この戦いを歌にしたのがフランデレンの地域歌「フランデレンの獅子」である。"

Two Heroes
There is a bronze statue of the heroes of the Flanders district, Jan Breydel (born in Bruges in the 13th Century -?) and Pieter de Coninck (? - died 1332 or 1333) in the centre of Grote Markt.
They say that in the "Battle of Gold Spurs" (1302), they commanded the militia infantry that fought against the French army of knights and led to victory,
protecting the independence of Flanders.
According to Japanese Wiki (translation by me)
"In Belgium, the independence of Flanders was preserved by their victory in this Battle and July 11 has become a National holiday : Golden Spur Day.
Moreover, the Battle was celebrated in a song, becoming Flander's regional anthem " De Vlaamse Leeuw ".

ブルージュ市庁舎は、14世紀に建てられ、オランダ全土で
最も古い市庁舎の一つです。
屋内見学もできるそうですが、私達は外側のみ見ました。
Stadhuis / Bruges City Hall : ★
The Bruges City Hall built in the 14th Century which is one of the oldest city halls
in the entire Netherlands region.
I heard that we can see inside, although we only saw outside.
