1) 木のエスカレーター / Wooden Escalators
木製のエスカレーターがアントワープにあると知り、ぜひ使用してみたいと思い、

:
'聖アナ・トンネル'
: 'Pedestrians' Tunnel
/ St. Anna's Tunnel'
: ★へ行くために設置されています。
トンネルは、歩行者と自転車専用です。
トンネルへの入り口
左は、自転車専用のエレベーター、右は歩行者の入り口。
トンネルは、1933年に開通されました。

knew that wooden escalators are in Antwerp, I wanted to use them and
I looked for them.
The escalators are for 'Pedestrians' Tunnel
/ St. Anna's Tunnel' : ★ which
is under the Scheldt River.
The tunnel is for walkers and bicycles only.

足元はメタル
木製といってもすべてが木ではなく、
可能な限り、メタル部分を木で覆っているという感じです。
メタル部分にも十分にレトロ感覚はありますね。
Stapes are Metal
Even
if it says wooden, not everything is wooden,
however, metal parts seem to be covered with as much wood as possible.
The metal parts also have plenty of retro feeling, don't they?

2) 川底のトンネル / Tunnel under the River
地元では、1874年から、アントワープ市のスヘルデ川によって、分けられている右岸と左岸の連結方法として橋の設置が提案されていました。
1931年に、ようやく、橋ではなく、トンネルの設置が決まりました。
57年間も検討されることに、驚きます。
トンネルは、1935年に開通され、当時からほぼ変化なく使用されているそうです。
納得ゆくまで検討され(放置された期間もあるようですが）、一度決定されたものを末長く用いるという姿勢が素晴らしいな〜と思います。
聖アナ・トンネル / St. Anna's Tunnel
トンネルは長さ572m、深さ31.57mです。
The St. Anna Tunnel is 572m long and at a depth of 31.57m.

Tunnel under the River
Locally, from 1874, the installation of bridges had been proposed as a way to connect the right and left banks, divided by the Schelde River in Antwerp city.
In 1931, finally, the installation of a tunnel, not a
bridge, was decided.
I was surprised that it could be debated on and off for
57 years.
The tunnel was opened in 1935, and it seems that it has
been used almost unchanged since then.
I
think their attitude is wonderful, that they had considered enough
until deciding, then after having determined their choice, they have
been able to use it for a long time.
演奏
ヴァイオリンの演奏が単調なトンネルの道のりを楽しませてくれます。
私達も感謝の気持ちで、小銭をバイオリン・ケースに入れました。
Performance
The violin performance could entertain us along the monotonous tunnel.
With thanksgiving feeling, we put coins into the violin case.

中心を示す絵 (★) があるようなのですけれど、見過ごしました。

3) 対岸から / From the Other Side
右岸の入り口は、都会の喧騒の中にありますが、左岸の入り口周囲は、公園や遊歩道などがあり、ゆったりとしています。
The entrance on the right bank is in the bustle of the city, although the entrance on the left bank has parks and promenades and there is spacious.
