Roman Fort in Reculver

(ルクルーバーのローマン要塞)

 この旅行で、'ローマン要塞 : Roman Fort 'を'カストラ: Castra' とも呼ぶことを知りました。

'カストラ: Castra' はラテン語読みです。

私の環境下の英国では 'Roman Fort '(ローマン要塞)と呼ぶことが多いし、'イングリッシュヘリテッジ/ English Heritage'でもこちらの表示です。

ローマが英国を支配した時代をブリタニア/ ブリタンニア(ラテン語読み): Britannia or Roman Britain と呼び、その時期は43 - およそ410年です。

その時代の遺跡が多く英国には残られているように感じます。

それは多くのその地点が防塞の要所であるので、各時代の権力者達がそこを改良しつつ利用したからだと思います。

とくに、ケントは大陸のヨーロッパに面しているので、多いのかもしれません。

Roman Fort in Reculver

In my environment in Britain, most people refer to 'Roman Fort' and also English Heritage uses this description. 

In this trip, I found out that the Latin word  for Fort is 'Castra'.

The Roman Empire dominated Britain, which they called Britannia or Roman Britain, the time was from 43 to about 410.

I feel the country has many ruins from this period.

I think the most of the sites have been important for protection, so the powers of every period have used and improved them.  

Kent faces towards Continental Europe, so especially there might be more.

満潮時にどこまで水がくるのか、わかりますよね。
We can see a water line when there is at high tide, can't we?

行くべきか↑?、引き返すべきか↓ ?
根性なし、時間無し(トイレタイム:苦笑)の私達は
引き返しました。

Should we go↑or return ↓?
We are weak and did not have time (for toilet, wry smile),
then we returned.

過酷な環境そうなところにも花が咲く〜！感動！
The environment looks hard, however, it blossoms!
I am impressed!
