を読み、この作家に興味を持ちました。

『タタール人の砂漠』は、映画にもなっており、彼の代表作かな？と思い、選びました。

一般的には、幻想小説と呼ばれているようですが、私には、通常の小説に思えまました。

そして長い間、このような小説らしい小説？を読んでいなかった自分を感じたほどです。

主人公は、少尉(少佐)として砂漠が前方にある砦に配属されます。

幾人かはその砦を見限って去り、幾人かはタタール人の侵略を期待しつつ、日常の生活につかり続けます。

主人公は、初期には前者であることを望んでいましたが、時とともに後者の一人になってゆきます。

波瀾万丈の真逆な人生がそこにはあるのでした。

最後に待ち望んでいた事がおきるのですが........。

誰しも、自分の人生に大きな出来事を期待をしたり、夢想したり、します。

そして大きな事柄や、夢想がおきなかった場合、ある人は心に傷を作りながらも、平気なふりをし続け、ある人は期待や夢を描いたことさえもなかったように、自分をもごまかしてしまいます。

私は読んでいる間に、主人公が精神を病むのではないかと心配し続け、はらはらしていました。

この本は若い人が読むべきなのかもしれませんが、人生を半分は過ごした人の方が多くの事を感じるのではないかと、また、苦い思いもするのではないかと思います。

とても良い本だと思いますが、自分が元気な時でないと読み返すことはしないでしょう。

この本と『シチリアを征服したクマ王国の物語』には作者の共通した思想が感じられます。

ブッツァーティは、人が堕落した環境に落ち込んでゆくことを責めたてることはしませんが、許しもしないのですね。

彼の人生は悲しいことがいっぱいあったのでしょうか？

When I read "LA FAMOSA INVASIONE DEGLI ORSI IN SICILIA / The Bears's Famous Invasion of Sicily", I became interested in this author, Dino Buzzati (1906 - 1972).

"The Tartar Steppe / Il deserto dei Tartari" became a film, so I thought the book must be his most famous and so I selected it. 

Generally this book is classed in 'Fantasy Literature', although for me, it is a normal novel.

I felt that I hadn't read a standard novel like this for a long time.   

The main character, a young man,  became a Second Lieutenant, and  he was ordered to go to a fort on the edge of a desert.

Some soldiers gave up and left the fort.

Some soldiers stayed, waiting for the invasion by the Tartars, and become absorbed in their daily routines.

To begin with the officer was frustrated with this posting, although in time, he too became accustomed. 

His life is the opposite of a dramatic life. 

Finally they are coming, however,.....

Everybody hopes to have big events or dreams in their lives. 

If they do not have them, some people could be mentally injured and they pretend they are fine, some people could even deceive themselves that they are happy. 

While I read the book, I was worrying about the character who might become mentally sick, so I couldn't relax. 

I think young people should read this book, although people over half-way through their life  can feel much more than the young or even feel bitter. 

This book is very good, however, only when I have a lot of energy could I read it again.  

I feel  Buzzati's common thoughts in this book and in "LA FAMOSA INVASIONE DEGLI ORSI IN SICILIA / The Bears's Famous Invasion of Sicily".

He did not blame people who fall into a rut, although he could not forgive them either. 

Did his life have a lot of sadness?
