夫Rはフルーツが大好きです。
よくフルーツサラダを作ってくれます。
いつもありがとう！

My husband R loves fruits.
He often make fruit salad.

庭はRが主に世話をしています。

コロナのために在宅が強いられるようになってからは、より一層、

彼の庭にかける時間は増えました。

庭の世話は、彼の精神も助けてくれているように思います。

私も庭の世話は好きですが、彼ほどの時間を庭のために費やすことはできませんが撮影はよくしていました。

ですが、来年の個展に向けて制作が始まってから、庭の撮影がめっきり減りました。

今日は、珍しく庭を撮影しました。

庭のキャンドル、ミニシクラメン
キャンドルの明かりを思わせます。
キャンドルの灯が気持ちを明るくするように、
庭のキャンドルも気持ちを明るくしてくれます。

Garden Candles, Mini Cyclamen

They are reminiscent of candlelight.

Just as the candlelight brightens my feelings,

 the Garden Candles also brighten my feelings.

Pots

The garden is mainly taken care of by R.

After being forced to stay home because of Corona, he spent more time in the garden.

I think that the care of the garden also helps his mental.

I also like taking care of the garden, but I can't spend as much time on it as he does, but I did photograph often.

However, since I started making works for next year's my exhibition, the number of photographs in the garden has decreased.

Today, unusually, I photographed the garden.

ビオラまたはパンジー
ビオラかパンジーの区別は曖昧です。
一般的には花の大きさで区別されているようです。
Rにとっては全て、'パンジー'らしいです。
彼にとっては、スミレがビオラ。
ここではパンジーと呼びます。
パンジーは春夏の花というイメージが私にはありましたが
このパンジーは冬に咲く品種のようです。

Viola or Pansy

The distinction between Viola and Pansy is ambiguous.

Generally, it seems to be distinguished by the size of the flower.

For R, everything seems to be 'Pansy'.

For him, Violets are Viola.

Here it is called a Pansy.

For me, there was an image of Pansies as spring-summer flowers, 

but this Pansy seems to be a variety that blooms in winter.

ペチュニア
切り戻しをして若芽ばかりになりました。
寒くなったので、花が咲くのかはわかりません。

Petunia

I cut it back and it became only young shoots.

It's getting cold, so I don't know if the flowers will bloom.

ポインセチア
3年前のクリスマスにピンクのポインセチアをいただきました。
翌年からピンクにはなりませんが
元気にしてくれているだけで嬉しい。
緑の葉だけでしたが赤い色が少しつき始めました。

Poinsettia

We were given a pink poinsettia for Christmas three years.

It won't turn pink from the following year, 

but I'm glad that it's doing well.

It was only green leaves, but a little red colour started to appear.

B. 地植え / Ground 

Rのためにいつもよりも苗を多く購入しています。

現在の鉢の数を増やしたくないので、鉢で元気に育った植物のいくつかを地植えに変えました。

地植えへの作業はRが行いますが何をどこへ植えるかは二人で相談します。

また新しい苗をどの鉢に入れるかも相談します。

ゼラニウム
このゼラニウムは比較的乾燥した土壌が好きです。
なので軒下に植えました。

Geranium

These Geraniums like relatively dry soil.

So they are planted under the eaves.

Ground 

I buy more seedlings than usual for R.

I don't want to increase the number of current pots, so I changed some of the plants that grew well in the pots to ground planting.

R does the work for planting the ground, but we have discussed what to plant and where to plant it.

We  also discuss which pots to put the new seedlings in.

都忘れ
都忘れは、何年かぶりに複数の花を咲かせました。
ずっと病気のようでしたが、昨年、今年と治療の薬を与えたのが
功を奏したように思います。
好きな花が回復して嬉しい！

Miyakowasure

"Miyakowasure (Aster Savatieri)" has bloomed several flowers 

for the first time in several years.

They had been sick for a long time, 

but I think it's been successful to give them

 a remedy last year and this year.

I'm glad that my favourite flower has recovered!

白いランタナ
白いランタナは鉢植えの時、とても元気に咲いていました。
他の方の庭で、道沿いに広い範囲で咲いているのを見かけます。
なので、道沿いの斜面に植えてみました。
根付いてくれると嬉しいのですが....。

White Lantana

The white lantana was in full bloom when it was potted.

In other gardens, we can see a wide range of flowers 

along the road.

So R planted it on the slope along the road.

I (we) hope it takes root ....

ミニトマト

ミニトマトは、夏の間、鑑賞としても食用としても

楽しませてくれました。

実のシーズンはほぼ終了。

ですがまだいくつかは実をつけています。

4鉢のミニトマトは、庭の空きにそれぞれ植えかえました。

Mini Tomato

Mini tomatoes were entertaining both for appreciation and for food 

during the summer.

The fruit season is almost over.

But some are still bearing fruit.

Four pots of mini tomatoes were replanted 

in empty spaces of the garden.

冬のパンジー
冬のパンジーを複数購入しました。
全てを鉢に植えることができず、いくつかは最初から地植えです。
寒さに負けず、咲き続けてほしいです。

Winter Pansies

We bought a few Winter Pansies.

Not all can be planted in pots, 

some are ground planting from the beginning.

I hope they keep blooming without being lost to the cold.

毎年、葉が品よく赤くなりますが、
木の名前がわかりません。
この木は、私達が住む前からありました。

Every year, the leaves turn red elegantly, 

but I don't know the name of the tree.

This tree was there before we moved in.

3) アップルケーキ / Apple Cake

紅玉をたくさん購入できたので、アップルケーキを作りました。

今まで幾つかのレシピでアップルケーキを作ってきました。

今回は、初めてのレシピを利用しました。

今までのアップルケーキと最も違うところは、リンゴをスライサーで薄く切るところです。

かなり食感が違いました。

焼き上がりにシナモンをふりました。
I sprinkled cinnamon on the baked.

Apple Cake

I could buy a lot of Jonathan apple, so I made an apple cake.

I've made apple cakes with several recipes so far.

This time, I used my first recipe.

The biggest difference from the apple cake so far is that the apple is sliced with a slicer.

The texture was quite different.

ほとんどがリンゴのケーキです。
The cake is mostly apple.

食べます！

ミルクフォーム入りのカフェオレ、Rの誕生日プレゼントの
和光のチョコレートと一緒に食べました。
お皿は私の磁器作品です。
美味しいアップルケーキでした。
また作りたいです。

Eat!

We ate the cake with cafe au lait with milk foam, 

and R's birthday gift, Wako chocolate.

The plates are my porcelain work.

This was a delicious apple cake.

I would like to make it again.

1) ラスター焼成 / Lustre Firing 

ラスター焼成開始
(11月5日)
主に、'ラスター金茶' を使用し、'金' も少し使用しました。

Lustre Firing Start 
(5th of November)
I mainly used 'Lustre Kincha : Golden Brown'
and also used a little 'Gold'.

(11月6日)

Finished Lustre Firing Start 
(6th of November) 

白地の場合
焼成後の金茶ラスターの作品を洗うと、
白地にはサーモンピンクに仕上がってきます。
私の施し方ではこの色になります。
前回の個展の時もリングのいくつかはこの色で仕上げました。
今回の個展では、このリングの出番があるのかは
まだわかりません。
バックは手ぬぐいで、水玉は手ぬぐいの柄です。

White Background Case 
If I wash the piece with 'Lustre Kincha : Golden Brown' after firing,
 it would be salmon pink or orange on a white background.

My method of application makes this colour.

At the time of my previous exhibition, 

some of the rings were finished in this colour.

I'm still not sure if this ring will show in my next exhibition.

Behind is a Tenugui : washcloth, and the polka dots are 

the pattern of the cloth.

"月と太陽"
ラスター焼成後は、夫Rにあげる言っていたテストピースです。
金のラスターを豪快に使っていました。
ですがヒビが入ってしまい、彼の手元でなく、
ヒビ作品のボックスへ行きます。
今回はヒビ作品のボックスを作っています。
ヒビの入った作品を何かに使いたいな〜と思っています。
私のスタジオにはロクロはありません。
丸い作品でも私はロクロでなく、たたら作りの手法なので
多作はできません。
原始的な方法です。

"Moon and Sun"

This is a test piece that I told my husband R 

'I would give you this after Lustre firing'.

I was using Gold Lustre daringly.

However, it got cracked and it will go to the box of the cracked work

 instead of his hand.

This time I have a box of cracked works.

I want to use the cracked work for something.
There is no potter's wheel in my studio.
Even if it's a round work, I can't do prolific work
 because I do not use a potter's wheel,
I use a slab-building method.
It's a primitive method.

お皿の外側にも金のラスターを施していました。
いつも、金のラスターは伝統工芸品と違う使い方を試しています。
(まあ、伝統工芸品のような使い方は、私にはできません<笑>)

There was also Gold Lustre on the outside of the plate.
I always try to use Gold Lustre in different ways
from traditional crafts.
(Well, I can't use it in a like traditional craft way, ha ha.)

作品にヒビが入ってしまうことを私はあまり嘆きません。

私の代わりにRが非常に嘆きます。

「君の労力と時間といろいろなものが無駄になった」

と言って...。

ですが、多くの場合、磁器のヒビは大変美しいラインで入り、そのカケラはとても美しいのです。

もともと、私のオブジェ作品は、'カケラ'にヒントを得て、破壊と創作または再生のテーマで作り始めたのです。

I don't mourn the cracks in my work.

R mourns very much on my behalf, he says 

"Your effort, time and much more wasted."

However, in many cases, the cracks in the porcelain enter in a very beautiful line, and the pieces are very beautiful.

Originally, my objet work was inspired by 'Kakera' : Pieces and started with the theme of destruction and creation or rebirth.

テストピース
磁器2種、透明釉2種、青ガラス釉に
金のラスターを施しています。
透明釉は自作、青ガラス釉は市販のものです。
薄さにも挑戦しています。

Test Pieces

Gold Lustre is applied to 2 types of porcelain, 

2 types of transparent glaze, and blue glass glaze.

The transparent glaze is self-made, 

and the blue glass glaze is commercially available.

I am also challenging thinness.

2) 素焼 / Biscuit Firing 

素焼開始
(11月7日)
珍しく、赤と黒の下絵具 (シタエノグ) を用いています。
上のお皿は違う種類の磁器と赤の下絵具を
用いたテストピースです。
皿の形成時に不安な気がしたのでいろいろなことを
試すテストピースにしました。

Biscuit Firing Start
(7th of November)  

Unusually, I use red and black slips.

The upper plate is a test piece with different types of porcelain 

and red slip.

I felt uneasy when forming the plate, 

so I made this test piece to try various things.

この素焼きでは赤、黒、青2色、茶壷の5色の下絵具を用いています。

今まで気がつきませんでしたが、この過程を私は素焼き前にしていますが、日本のやり方は、素焼き後にしています。

これを '絵つけ'と呼び、私のやり方は、'化粧'と呼ぶのだと知りました。

今もって、英国流と日本流の違いに翻弄されています (苦笑)。

ちなみに本焼後(釉薬焼成後)の絵付はエナメル：上絵具 (ウワエノグ)でします。

この過程は、日本では上絵つけ (ウワエツケ) と呼び、絵付後の焼成は、ラスター焼成と同時にできます。

素焼終了
(11月9日)
素焼の段階では、殆ど割れないしヒビも入りません。
それでも窯を開けるまでは、心配です。

Finished Biscuit Firing
(9th of November)  
At the biscuit stage, there are almost no breaks or cracks.
Still, I'm worried until I open the kiln.

In this biscuit firing, I did slip paint with five colorus :  red, black, two blues, and Chatubo; Brown Green.

I didn't notice it until now, but I do this process: slip painting before biscuit firing, but the Japanese way is afterwards.

I found that this was called 'Etsuke ; painting' and my method was 'Keshou ; makeup' in Japanese.

I'm still at the mercy of the difference between the English and Japanese styles (Wry Smile).

By the way, if paint is applied after the glaze firing, the third firing is known as enamel  firing.

(Enamel is called Uwa-Enog in Japanedse, this paint is called Uwa-Etsuke in Ja

This process is called overpainting in Japan, and firing for each painting can be done at the same time as Lustre firing.

3) リトグラフと磁器

リトグラフ・磁器リング
(11月7日)
この組み合わせは随分前からしています。
リングがマット(釉薬なしで本焼成)なところが新しい。
リングはまだ接着していません。
今後、このままの形で、1つの作品になるかはわかりません。

Lithograph and Porcelain Ring
(7th of November)
This combination has been around for quite some time.
The new thing is that the ring is matte (fired without glaze).
The ring has not been glued yet.
I don't know if it will be one work in the future as it is.

カラーインク・リトグラフ・磁器のリング
ほぼ上の作品と同様の状態です。
違う点は、2点。
1つ目、カラーインクのドローイングにリトグラフのプリント、
2つ目、リングに釉薬が施されています。

This is almost the same as the work above.

There are two differences.

First, lithograph printing on colour ink drawings,

1) 版とプリント /  Plates and Prints 

前々回、版を制作し、前回、寒色系でプリントしました。
今日は、暖色系でプリントしました。

I made a plate two weeks ago,
and last time I printed from it in cool colours.
Today, I printed in warm colours.

前回、制作した版。
今日は真ん中版を使用しました。

These plates were made last time.
I used the middle one today.

いろいろな紙を試しています。
I'm trying out various papers.

2) 実験 / Experiment

メディウム
リトグラフのインクとしてのメディウムとは違う使い方を
知ったので、自分で試し始めました。

Medium
I found how to use lithograph ink  Medium differently, 
so I started trying it myself.

Y先生からメディウムを厚盛りすると
半年から1年くらい乾かないと教わりました。
この実験の結果は、来年4月の個展の作品には
活かせないようです。

I was told by Y Sensei that it wouldn't dry
for about half a year to a year if the medium was thickened.
It seems that the results of this experiment cannot be used
in the works of my exhibition in April next year.

3) 帰り道 / On My Way Back

リトグラフ工房を出ると日暮れが近くなっていました。

大町から見た夕暮れの雲が美しかったので撮影しました。

最近、i-phoneしか持って出ないので、遠景はうまく撮れません。

ちらっとニコンのカメラを持ってこないことを悔いました。

でもね〜、リトグラフ工房へは、いつもスケッチバックを持って出るので他の荷物を持ちたいくないので、結局i-phoneだけを持って出るのです。

On My Way Back

When I left the lithograph studio, nightfall was near.

The clouds at dusk seen from Omachi were beautiful, so 

I photographed.

Recently, I only carry my i-phone, so I can't take good pictures of distant views.

I regret not bringing my Nikon camera for a moment.

But, I always bring my sketch bag to the lithograph studio, so I don't want to carry anything more, so I only end up taking my i-phone.

4) ワインと作品 / Wine and Works

リトグラフ工房へ行く前に花屋さんで、友人の母娘 

(SさんとMちゃん) のお誕生日のブーケを花屋さんで注文しました。

ブーケはお店に置いて私は去りましたが、後に夫Rが引き取りに行きました。

彼はそのまま、友人にブーケを届けに行きました。

その友人から、友人の友人が経営しているワイナリーのワインをもらってきました。

ありがとうございました。

家でワインを撮影した際に、ワインのそばにあった絵は、友人のイラストレイターのSatomiちゃんが描いたものでした。

偶然にもブーケを注文した花屋さんの看板はSatomiちゃんが描いたものでした。

Wine and Works

Before going to the lithograph studio, I ordered bouquets for my friends : a mother and daughter (S San and M Chan) in a flower shop.

I left the bouquets in the shop, and later my husband R went to pick them up.

He went straight to deliver the bouquets to the friends.

From them, we were  given a wine from a winery run by the friend's friend.

Thank you very much!

When I photographed the wine at home, the picture near the wine was drawn by my friend illustrator Satomi Chan.

By chance, the flower shop's signboard was also drawn 

by Satomi Chan.

今日はリトグラフ工房へ行く日です。

リトグラフ工房の前に、由比ガ浜の花屋・リリーズ (Rirys) へ行きました。

前回は、お悔やみのための白いブーケを作ってもらいましたが、今回は友人のお誕生日のためのカラフル・ブーケを2つ注文しました。

Flowers Shop

Today is the day to go to the lithograph studio.

Before the lithograph studio, I went to the flower shop Rirys in Yuigahama, Kamakura.

Last time, I asked her to make a white bouquet for condolences, but this time I ordered two colorful birthday bouquets for my (our) friends.

2) 道沿いの花々 / Flowers Along the Roads

時間と気持ちに余裕があるときは、リトグラフ工房へ行く道筋で、目に止まった風景やモノを撮影します。

この日は、いつもよりも花に目が止まりました。

最初に花屋さんに行き、いつもよりも花に興味が集中しているのかしら？と思いつつ歩きました。

When I have plenty of time and feelings, I photograph landscapes and things that catch my eye on the way to the lithograph studio.

On this day, flowers caught my eye more than usual.

While I walked, I wondered if it was because I went to the flower shop first, so today I was more interested in flowers than usual?

店先 / In Front of Shops

安養院の石蕗
鎌倉では、ツワブキ (石蕗 / 艶蕗) をよく見ます。
我が家にも植えてもいないのに、たくさんのツワブキが咲きます。
たくさんすぎて他の花の成長を邪魔するほどで、
間引き対象にもなります。
ですが、上手にツワブキを利用している場所もたくさんあります。
安養院 (アンヨウイン) はツツジで有名ですが、それは初夏です。
今はツワブキがメインの花になっているようです。

Leopard Plant of An’yō-in Temple

In Kamakura, we often see Leopard Plants.

Many Leopard Plants bloom in our garden,

even though we haven't planted them.

We have too many Leopard Plants, which hinder the growth of 

other flowers, and Leopard Plants become our target of thinning.

However, there are many places which can use Leopard Plant well.

An’yō-in Temple is famous for azaleas, but it is early summer.

It seems that Leopard Plant is their main flower now.

石垣の上 / Above Wall

青い空と黄色の花のコントラストが綺麗です。

The contrast between the blue sky and 

the yellow flowers is beautiful.

一般のお宅
素敵にツワブキが用いられています。

General House
Leopard Plant looks lovely.

白いサザンカ
この時期に咲いているので椿でなく、
サザンカ(山茶花/ 茶梅)だと思います。
どの色の花も美しいと思いますが、
なぜだか、白い花には特別な思いがあり、惹かれますます。

White Camellia Sasanqua

Since it blooms at this time, I think it is Camellia Sasanqua, 

not Camellia Japonica.

I think flowers of all colours are beautiful, but for some reason,

 white flowers have a special feeling and are attractive for me.
