| マグマの存在 地面からの温泉の湯気に驚きます。 ここは、火山の地下のマグマを熱源とする火山性温泉 と聞いています。 地下のマグマの存在をしっかりと感じます。 それでもなおかつ、不思議さが消えません。 Presence of Magma I was surprised by the hot spring steam rising from the ground. I've heard that here is a volcanic hot spring that uses the magma beneath the volcano as its heat source. I can feel the presence of underground magma. Even so, the wonder remains.  |

| 夕方の景色 夕方も綺麗....。 朝焼けは嬉しさを感じ、夕焼けは哀しい気持ちになります。 どちらの景色も、どちらの感情も好きです。 Evening Scenery Evening is also beautiful.... The sunrise makes me happy, and the sunset makes me feel sad. I like both views and both feelings.  美しい景色の中に電線がないのが嬉しい。 in the beautiful scenery. |

| 1日ここで過ごしても、地から煙が立つ景色が 珍しいものに感じます。 Even though I spent a whole day here, I still felt the uniqueness of the view of smoke rising from the ground. |

| 屋久杉 本館入り口に屋久杉 (ヤクスギ) の一部 (幹？) が 展示されています。 推定樹齢2500年です。 Yakusugi Cedar A part (trunk?) of Yakusugi is displayed at the entrance of the main building. Their estimate is that this is 2,500 years old.  屋久杉と聞くと、屋久島へ旅行したことを思い出します。 When I hear Yakusugi, it reminds me of my trip to Yakushima Island. |
According to Wiki about Yakusugi,
"Yakusugi refers to "Japanese cedar" on the island of Yakushima, typically growing at altitudes 500 meters and higher.
The term also extends to the lumber taken from the logging of these coniferous trees.
In the strict sense, the term Yakusugi is reserved for trees aged 1,000 years or more, and younger trees are referred to as kosugi ("small cedars")."

| まじめなのか、ジョークなのか？ 達磨像 (ダルマゾウ) がありますが、私にはその理由はわかりません し、ここにこの像を設置するセンスもわかりません。 Serious or Joking? There is a Daruma statue : Bodhidharma statue, but I don't know why, and I don't know the sense of putting this statue here. |

金の鹿の彫像がいくつか敷地内にあります。
夕飯時にその理由を知りました (下記)。

Ever since the third-generation owner declared that he would not let an axe in, they have faithfully inherited the intention.  |
私達は、9月30日と10月1日、 "百年杉庭園" を散策しました。
9月30日は、朝食後、昼間の光の中を、10月1日は、朝食前、朝日の中を歩きました。
撮影は主に、30日にしました。
On 30th of September and 1st of October, we strolled through the "100 Years Old Cedar Garden".
On 30th of September, we walked in the daylight after breakfast, and on 1st of October, we walked in the morning sun before breakfast.
Most of the photographs were taken on 30th.

| 参道 ちょっとこの階段に気持ちが怯みましたが、 時間制限がないので、マイペースで登りました。 Approach I was a little daunted by these steps, but there was no time limit, so I climbed at my own pace. |

| 可愛らしい手水舎 Pretty Chōzu-ya Chōzu-ya is a Shinto water ablution pavilion for the ceremonial purification rite. It is a place where you wash your hands and rinse your mouth at a shrine. Moreover, the act makes purification of your spirit, officially. |

| 御神木 注連縄 (シメナワ)、紙垂 (シデ) があるので、どの木が 御神木かわりますが、なければ、わかりません。 この御神木には、専用の鳥居まであるので、驚きました。 Go-shinboku : God Tree There are Shimenawa and Shide, so I know which tree is the sacred tree, if they are not there I can't tell. I was surprised to find that this sacred tree even has its own torii gate.  可愛らしい鳥居 根元に鳥居がある御神木を初めて見ました。 お賽銭箱まであります。 Cute Torii Gate It was my first time to see a sacred tree with a torii gate at its base. There is even an offertory box. |
According to Wiki about Go-Shinboku,
"A shinboku (神木) is a tree or forest worshipped as a shintai –
a physical object of worship at or near a Shinto shrine, worshipped as a repository in which spirits or kami reside.

Haiku and poems written by famous guests of the past are placed in stone monuments or framed in several places.

| ミツマタ ミツマタ (三椏) と聞くと、和紙の原料であるとまず思い、 興味が沸きます。 実際に、ミツマタと知った上で、この植物を見るのは 初めてでした。 綺麗な植物だと思います。 Oriental Paperbush : Mitsumata When I hear the word Oriental Paperbush, the first thing that comes to mind is that it is a raw material for Japanese paper, and it sparks interest. Actually, it was my first time to see this plant after knowing it was an Oriental Paperbush. I think the plant is beautiful.   |

| ノササゲ? この植物には名札がありません。 ノササゲかしら？ Nosasage? This plant has no name tag. I wonder if this is Nosasage ; one of Vigna, scientific name 'Dumasia truncata Sieb. et Zucc'.  黄色い花 緑とアースカラーの中で、黄色い花が目に 止まりました。 Yellow Flowers Among the green and earth colours, yellow flowers caught my eye. |

| ユズリハ ユズリハ (楪 / 交譲木 / 譲葉 / 杠) の葉は、 お正月のお飾りで毎年使用しています。 ユズリハの木を見るのは初めてでした。 Yuzuriha : Daphniphyllum Macropodum I use Yuzuriha : Daphniphyllum Macropodum leaves every year for New Year's decorations. It was my first time to see its tree.   |

| ヒメシャラ ヒメシャラ (姫沙羅 / 赤栴檀) は、小ぶりで椿に似た花が 咲くようでした。 だから、ヒメ (姫) が名前につくのだと理解しました。 Stewartia Monadelpha : Himeshara Stewartia Monadelpha : Himeshara seemed to bloom with small, camellia-like flowers. That's why I understand that Hime (princess) is attached to the name.   |

キノコ栽培 これを撮影したときは、これらの丸太がなんのためなのか わかりませんでした。 杉庭園でこのセットを複数見ました。 夕食時に、レストランのスタッフからキノコ栽培の ためのものだと聞きました。 Mushroom Cultivation When I took this photograph, I had no idea what these logs were for. I've seen a few sets in the cedar garden. During dinner, we heard from the restaurant staff that they are for mushroom cultivation. |
レストランで夕食をとっている時に、キノコの匂いに誘われ、野生の鹿が姿を現しました。
そのときのことは下記。
ホテル側の意向は分かりませんが、キノコ栽培は、野生の鹿を呼ぶためのものだと私は理解しました。

Below is what happened then.
I don't know the intentions of the hotel, but I understand that mushroom cultivation is for attracting wild deer.

| '龍馬の散歩道' この先が'龍馬の散歩道'と名付けられています。 杉庭園から出る近道という印象でした。 がんがん、自分の道を進む龍馬のイメージなのかもしれません。 Ryōma no Sanpo-michi' : 'Ryōma's Walk' Ahead here is called Ryōma no Sanpo-michi' '. I had the impression that it was a short cut from the cedar garden. I may feel an image of Ryōma, who is no doubt moving forward on his own way. |
私達以外には殆ど人を見ませんでした。
ゆっくりと散策できました。
不思議な雰囲気がした '別当・華林寺跡' の杉山とは、まったく違う杉山の印象を持ちました。
華林寺跡については下記。
ここの杉山は、斧はいれずとも、確かに人の手が入った、整理された雰囲気がしました。
ここは、庭なんですね〜。
I don't remember seeing any other people.
We were able to take a leisurely stroll.
I had a completely different impression of this 'Cedar Mountain' compared to the strange atmosphere of 'Cedar Mountain' at the 'Site of Betto Kerin-ji Temple'.
About 'Site of Betto Kerin-ji Temple', below.
Here in Cedar Mountain, 'even without any axe', it certainly had an atmosphere of being hand-crafted and organized.
